what are some methods to have the original chrome pieces such as the front grill and window trims painted into glossy black. I called my paint guy and he told me chrome pieces are not 'paintable' and that I shouldn't go that route.
View 8 RepliesMy RC-F has like 8k miles on the odo. I first noticed it at around 6K miles and I thought my RC-F had picked up some "small pieces of wet tissues or some white paint from road construction". But upon closer examination it is the black paint across the black bumper behind the massive grill peeling the black paint thereby revealing its original white paint.
My front end looks like a Dalmatians dog with black and white spots.
I did not hit anything. Dealer is fixing it under warranty. So will wait and see.

My 2013 ES350 is 3 months old, treated like a baby, and today I noticed paint peeling on the left front rim in two places (white areas on photo below). I never hit a curb (or anything else), and there is no dent or scratch associated with this.

It is not terrible, but like keeping car nice, would be nice if covered under warranty. Been this way for awhile, maybe should have taken it in, haven't even mentioned it to Hyundai.

The last month temperatures have been around 10 degrees but no snow. Will take to dealer next time in Spokane. But would like to know how to prevent this in the future.

View 14 RepliesI have a 2002 SC430 with 130K+ miles. I have recently noticed that after some spirited driving the front of my car smells strange. I can even smell it outside of the car in the front where the radiator is. The smell is coming from the engine and through the front grill.
If I set my climate control to pull air in from the outside then the smell will get pulled into the cabin.
I checked to see if the exhaust evap hose got disconnected but it has not (can also cause smell around the car). The check engine light is not on and the temperature gauge appears normal. I've noticed my windows seems to fog up easily too now (I run the heater all the time since it's winter here), perhaps some antifreeze is getting into the climate control system? I'm hoping it's not my heater core starting to go, since that's an expensive repair.
Perhaps this could be a sign that the radiator is leaking? I got the car used and believe I have the original radiator in there.
Several times it would have been nice just to pull the plastic grills off and clean out the bugs. What are the details on how you can do this?
Using a tube to vacuum tube through the grill holes can result in bending the fins. Attached is an example hack at a coin op on a road trip. Need a better way.
Black paint flaking off the mufflers. I was hosing the car off I hosed the black part of the mufflers and paint started coming off. Looks like hell now. I plan on cleaning them up and putting a few coats of flat black grill or high temp paint on them.

View 5 RepliesSo it looks like my truck has a new issue. I thought I had picked up some white paint from the road, and somehow kicked it up onto the black underside of my driver's door. When I looked closer to see how I could clean it up, I realized it is actually the black coating peeling off of the white paint. What I have is exposed white body paint in a stripe on the bottom of my door. I checked it a little more closely, and there are several other areas on the door where this is starting to happen as well.

There was a shiny spot in the middle of the dash, so I took some Dawn dish washing liquid and a micro fiber towel and gently tried to remove the shiny spot. Well, after I wiped it with clean water, it dried as a whitish spot now, as if some of the dye came off! Any remedy for this mistake I did?
View 14 RepliesI got a P0430 code. My fuel trims are over 20% on both banks. A few days back I got a P0174 code but after disconnecting the battery it cleared and hasn't come back. Are these codes related in any way?
I'm a bit confused because I removed both cats and put O2 spacers in on both sides. I never get a P0420 code. Is one of the spacers not working correctly? I sent Toyota an email about the 430 code and they want to know which of the cats were removed - front or back. I didn't even there were front AND back ones! I thought there were just 2 side by side.
When I analyze the O2 readings on Torque they look pretty similar for both banks although I admit I'm not the best person to judge. Both rear O2 sensors are fairly new.
Unfortunately living in the middle of Africa I can't get hold of a smoke machine. I'd love to look for a vacuum leak, as from what I've read about the subject this might well be the cause of my problems.
One mechanic wants to put a new fuel pump in but I'd like to postpone that because it's a pricey item.
Haven't driven the 2013 ES 350 very much yet but my Nav map has suddenly turned to black and white instead of the initial multiple colors, even during the day. What happened ... can't seem to find on the system how to revert back without going thru 900+ page book. Also, the map is showing some roads/hwys. with tiny circles (attached to each other) instead of the previous thick lines?
Radio, don't have the XM service but when listening to std. issue radio, sometimes and lasting maybe for 8-10 seconds or so, the radio suddenly sounds very "echoey" and more emphasized, it seems, from the back speakers. Then it reverts back to "normal" - only to do it again within the same 20 min. drive-time.
Have 33K miles on a 2013 f sport. Great car.
Yesterday I noticed a chirping noise when I had my window down. I could not hear it when it was up. It sounds a bit like the squeal of brake pads, but it's continuous even when not braking (it does change tone with speed, direction and braking). to compound things at times I don't hear it at all.
Could this be brake pads? My front ones are coming due. I thought they only made noise when braking.
Just purchased a 2013 Lexus GS 350 Luxury with 22,000 miles. I took it to Lexus service for a recall and the rear window shade was not closing on one side. Service declined to cover it under warranty because they claim it was broke by a child or person. I purchased the GS 350 at Manheim using me dealer friends incense. The inoperable rear window shade was in the condition report but I never thought Lexus would not repair it under warranty....
View 6 RepliesI have a '98 Camry. The windshield and side window rubber gaskets/molding is cracking, and there's paint peeling on the roof. I have 166k on it and it runs fine. Do I need to do something about these issues? I'm concerned about water leaks (not yet), but don't care about it cosmetically.
