So, I think the glovebox lid, with the integrated air bag, is too heavy. My dash squeak around the glove box, particularly near the latch. I think the lid is too heavy and pulls on the latch, and this is causing some of the adhesive behind the trim to squeak. The noise stops if I (or the passenger) pushes on the area or if I open the glove box.

View 5 RepliesThis is a known issue with Lexus. Bring your Lovely RX to the dealer so they can replace the Steering wheel column, so it will stop the "Squeak" noise.

View 10 RepliesThe glove box on my wife's '13 elantra keeps popping open. I guess the little plastic latch that keeps it up is not going into the hole far enough when it's closed, so after a while it slides out.
Would rather avoid a trip to the dealer (not even sure if it would be covered under warranty anymore, the car is over 3 years old).
When closing my glove box, it will open back out. That's if I slap it on and let go. I noticed that there are 2 notches sliding out of the glove box. If I push them in by hand, they slide out slowly. So I tried to close the glove box and keep my hand on it for a couple of seconds for the notches to slide. It stays closed this way. I'm suspecting this is tied to the cold weather we're having lately. I hope I don't have to take it apart to re-lube it or anything like that.
View 2 RepliesWith only 4000 miles, the dash lights on our ES350 will go out and stay out until you restart the car. This problem is intermittent which makes it super hard to pin point.
View 6 RepliesI just bought my ES350.Every time i start my car, i get a message on my dash "checking system" for about the first 5-6 seconds. Is this normal? Another issue I have, might not really be an issue, but i hear a noise that something is rubbing when I'm turning my steering wheel when the car is parked. When i turn it slowly, I hear no noise.
View 7 RepliesI'm a brand new owner of a 2013 GS350 that I've had for just a few days and so far I am in love. I noticed I have this blue light at the top center of the dash that keeps fading in and out day or night. Any setting somewhere that I can make this either go away completely or atleast stop the fading effect?? On a side note, I'll be coming up on a 30K mile maintenance within the next 6 months or so and my local Lexus dealer quoted me roughly $525 or so.
View 9 RepliesI have a 2002 Silverado 2wheel 1500 that has developed an unusual noise that seems to come from behind the dash (near the glove box). There is a roller type sound (creaky likes it's stretching something) that usually ends with a clunk. I'm pretty sure it does it whether the AC is on or not and it doesn't seem to affect the AC at all. I just had the thing in for maintenance so, I hesitate to take it back. I did have the blower control replaced about 10,000 miles ago (wouldn't come on until Speed 3) and I did have the cabin filter replaced recently.
View 2 RepliesI have a 2013 GS, RWD. 33k miles. This is my third Lexus. Wife owns an 05 GX that we will drive till it dies. Had a 2010 RX also. The problem I'm about to describe occurred on the RX and now this GS which makes me crazy. The bottom line is that I have an intermittent noise that comes from the center of my dash. It sounds like someone is clicking a PC mouse very, very fast. It sounds like it is coming from behind the navigation. I've had it to the dealer multiple times and gone all the way to corporate.
The problem is that I have a Murphy's Law situation in that it doesn't occur on demand. I've even sent them a video of the noise but since they don't hear it themselves they won't touch my dash to fix it. Since it had this same noise now on two different vehicles I know it is a manufacturer problem and not just one vehicle. Both cars have navigation.
Key icon on dash at times = low fob battery? No low battery warning print lit up. Also so happened a couple times on my GS.
View 2 RepliesI bought my ES in January of this year, and almost from the get go I've had an intermittent problem with a squeak in the dash... I really think this is a cool weather issue because last weekend it was in the mid 70;s here and not a single noise... this morning temps dropped into the upper 40's and there was that damn squeak again...
It's located right over the speedometer about 2 to 3 inches in from the edge ( just beyond my grandson's right hand in the pic below... Took it to the dealer a week or two back but because it wasn't making any noise, they told me there was no point in leaving it... but this morning they said bring it buy and we'll put you in a loaner....
I've heard of this being an issue on some IS models but not on any ES models... anyway according to what I've read the fix was to remove the screws on the bottom side of the dash 'hump" and then insert some felt in there... hope this works, because even though it's just a squeak and nothing mechanical.
My 2014 ES350 is making a constant clicking noise from under the dash. Sounds like relay going on and off. When I shut off the air handling system the clicking completely goes away. Car is the Ultra Premium package and has about 13k miles on it.
Also, not sure if related but recently while the car was not running I noticed the car whining from rear wheel area the other night, I went back in the house and got my keys. Tried unlocking and re-locking but finally had to start the car and shut it off again the get the noise to stop. The car had been off for at least an hour or more but it sounded like fuel pump was running all by itself or some other system. I've owned 25 cars and never had that happen before. Otherwise I love this car!
In my 2013 Elantra, sometimes I hear the squeaky fan noise coming from under the glove compartment when i turned on the heat and it sounds like a cricket. It started around 1 week ago.. Also, rattling problem on the passenger side near around seatbelt.

View 14 RepliesMy 2013 ES 350 has stains and pitting on the temperature display and the dash surrounding it. I clean my car myself and use standard cleaning products, so I'm baffled as to what caused this. It could be ArmorAll, air-freshener, leather/vinyl cleaner, or any number of products I've used to clean my car. I took it to the dealer and they declined, noting that that other customers have not reported the same problem. The clincher is that they want $1900 just for the part. Apparently you can't just replace the plastic display cover, but it's part of a larger piece of the dash that has to all be replaced.
View 8 RepliesSo the blue light indicating eco mode on the dash has become permanent despite turning to sport, or normal mode. Bought it used a few months ago but could have sworn it would turn red for sport when I first brought it home. Have tried just about everything short of unplugging the battery. I can't imagine the red light would be burnt out already and the blue light should not stay on when I change to normal mode either. Maybe my car is trying to tell me to always stay in eco...since I did come from a corolla
View 5 RepliesSuper excited still just picked up a 13 cpo fsport awd, obsidian and cabernet. Playing with the set up and seeing some of the posts on here a couple questions I had.
#1. There's a DIY thread for changing the puddle light. I couldn't find in the settings how to turn those lights on. When I lock the doors or unlock, they don't turn on.
#2. In the phone settings, there's an option to show contact pictures for the caller ID. I tried a couple calls, but the picture doesn't show on the dash screen, but does on my phone.
I bought the 2013 GS 350 F-sport thinking it would be a long lasting reliable car.... I've had brake squeal since day one. My car now has 45k miles on it, all miles driven with the insanely loud brake squeal. It's been to the dealership many times but they've change the brake pads only once and refused to resurface or swap the rotors. After I called Lexus corporate and filled a case, I finally got the managers attention. (1800-25lexus for those in need)
The manager tells me that the brake squeal can be caused by the drivers driving pattern. He basically said that if you don't drive hard enough or maybe even drive too hard, the rotors will glaze over and you will get squeal. -so let me get this right, I have to drive a certain way all the time so I don't get brake squeal? - Long story short, he asked me to come in again so he can see the squeal himself.
Aside from the brake squeal..
-My front and rear passenger side shocks blew out and were replaced at 20k miles.
-I've had a rattle in my passenger side dash since 10k miles that the dealer refuses to fix. They say trying to fix it will cause more rattle.
-My back up camera is now pointing too low. Every time I go in for a fix it just ends up happening again after the fix.
-My rear view mirror is loose.
I can deal with the small things but that damn brake squeal is so loud that it actually pierces my ears when I brake next to a car with my windows down.. Brake squeal has now started on my sisters 2014 is350 f-sport as well. How I can fix the brake squeal so I can sell the car?
