I've recently came across a site that sells a bypass unit that would allow me to bypass the DRL brightness adjustment settings to "Full" brightness even when the headlights are on. Instead of the "dim" mode when the headlights are on.
View 14 RepliesOn my 2007 GS350 I have an annoying (or) normal problem where the Nav screen has to warm up a little, like an old tube radio, to full brightness when I start up the car on a colder morning. It takes about 15 to 20 seconds. My Lexus dealer first said it was normal but eventually gave up and replaced it. It still seems to be about the same.

View 14 RepliesI have a 2013 GS350 F-Sport. Every so often (maybe once every other week), I'll observe the VSC indicator appear after I slow down to a complete stop, such as at a traffic light. The indicator light remains on while I'm stopped. Once the traffic light turns green and I take my foot from the brake pedal to the accelerator, the car hesitates for a moment, as if trying to figure out how to gain traction, but I then get going, and the VSC light disappears and that's the end of it (usually until it happens again a few days or a couple weeks later). Whenever this happens, the road is flat and dry, so traction should be normal and no problem.
The only other piece of information that might be relevant is that I now believe I can reproduce similar behavior: if I'm at a traffic light, or even just parked, and I simply step down hard on the brake pedal, I observe that the VSC indicator light appears. Perhaps this is simply what is happening in the instances I have observed this when stopping at a traffic light. Still, I don't understand why pressing down on the brake pedal with a little extra pressure when parked would cause the VSC light to appear. Is this normal behavior? Only the VSC light appears in these instances, no other indicators or warnings appear.
Where the power steering reservoir is located on an ES 350 (2013)? I am looking to change the fluid out since my steering wheel is making some noise at full lock. I have been looking under the hood for 2 days now and cannot seem to locate it. I have located the brake fluid reservoir which was flushed out today...night and day difference in braking btw. Now this power steering is bugging me but i cant locate the reservoir.
View 8 RepliesI am going to install a coolant filter on my 2004 6.0 E350 van. I have read threads about bypass filters and full flow filters and I started asking myself "Why use a bypass when I can filter all of the coolant?"
Is there any reason why someone should use a bypass filter? I bought the van used knowing I would eventually have to do most if not all of the 6.0 repairs. IPR sells a complete coolant filter.
I talked with the people at FICM repair and they suggested I do my research but leaned towards the IPR cooler. Ed spent a good 30 minutes on the phone answering all my questions and never asked if I wanted to buy anything. If anything, he was trying to stop me from throwing money at the van until I isolated what needs to be repaired.
I already bought the Sinister Kit and requested a return.
I have a 2000 Buick Regal LS. This problem used to be intermittent but has gotten to the point that I never see a "normal" operating state from my HVAC controller unit, so I need to get it fixed. The problem is that when I turn my car on the controller comes up completely blank except the 4 red lights on the passenger side climate control. The heater then (at the same time) turn on FULL BLAST and is stuck in the 90 degree setting (hottest possible). I got to the point that I pulled the high fan fuse just so I didn't die of overheating...
Today I tried to replace the actual controller unit with a refurbished unit I bought off of ebay. Unfortunately, I had the same result with the new controller...No display at all, but all red lights light on the passenger side climate control. My thought is that the issue is much deeper than a vacuum line (although I haven't checked them yet) or even the controller unit. I've checked all the related fuses and they all seem to be fine. Could this be a computer issue? If so what is the fix?
I have the Non-Nav with just Display Audio. I have noticed that the display tends to fade in & out. Even at night when the lights are on- I keep the dash on the bright side- the DA/radio info fades. It's still legible but wondering is there a way to fix this? I couldn't find anything in the manual about adjusting the brightness.

Anyway, noticed that the XM radio sound is louder than, say, FM/AM?
On my old car I had a pioneer head unit where you could adjust the input sound levels, based upon the FM levels. (ie, XM input is +2 vs. FM, and CD is -1, etc.)
I can't find this in the sound menu (seems very basic to be honest).
Where about is this filter located? is it the cabin filter in the glovebox?

View 1 RepliesI recently purchased a '13 FX4, i love the truck, the Ecoboost power is incrediable. Recently while passing someone it made a horrible grinding sound, the dealer advised that it was known turbo issue that should have been corrected before we took delivery of the truck. When we took it in the dealer called and said they have Ford corporate involed because when the truck reaches WFO the four wheel drive tries to engage. Said it might be soem sort of vacuum issue.
Specs : 2013 Ecoboost Screw FX4 short bed. No mods, 6500 miles.
Just bought my new ride last week and already noticed strange clunk sound when braking. It doesn't happen all the time but seems to happen when I make full stop, like at a stop sign or stop before turning.
View 1 RepliesI've read all about the 2013 model having issues with the gas gauge being off...where it would only stay on "full" for a few miles and then quickly go down. I'm having the opposite problem. My gauge is staying on "full" for forever. Right now I've driven about 80 miles and it's still on "full". I accidentally reset the "tripometer" today and then I suddenly had even more miles to empty!!!! I went from 220 to 291 MTE!! Meanwhile my gauge is still on "full"...... Only 600 miles on the car so far......

View 14 RepliesI have a 1997 Lexus LX450. I just had the AC unit replaced. On the way home from the repair shop, the oil gauge did not work. Then some antifreeze leaked out of the bottom of the front end below the radiator. Now it looks like there's antifreeze in the oil since the dip stick fluid level is an inch or two above "full" and the oil has an orange tint to it? Did the mechanic screw something up?
View 2 RepliesThe air-con unit has caused the car to vibrate (only way to describe it) quite badly.
It started in January (which is winter in the UK) so I switched it off and it stopped - hence my diagnosis that it was the ACU at fault.
As spring approached and the temperature started to rise, I put it back on and it appeared to work fine no vibration and plenty of cool air.
Occasionally (one or twice over many 1000's of miles) it would do it, but cycle it off/on and it went.
I figured it was probably the serpentine belt that needed replacing - which happened on the service last month, they advised it was worn so I was right to replace.
Yesterday the vibration came back with a vengeance, and my suspicion is that perhaps the belt-tensioner should also have been replaced as these have a limited life so was slipping due to the extra load of a hot day and me switching the ACU on.
A small edit after submitting - I'm assuming it HAS an automatic belt tensioner that is based on some spring mechanism - can't believe you'd have to adjust these manually?
On occasion the navigation unit will not let me enter a new address. I have the car turned on, in park, and the screen has the address option grayed out. It will let me enter previous destinations but not new addresses. This has been occurring more frequently recently. If I drive for a half hour or so,the address then becomes available again (sometimes it does not). It is not the disk, I have tried a new one with the same results.

View 6 RepliesSo I got some burned cds stuck in the unit just like everyone said would happen. the unit was full with 6 disks at the time. i removed the unit, removed the cds from the unit, and reinstalled it. once reinstalled i disconnected the battery for 20 minutes to clear any memory and when i tried to use the changer once more the error code 3 returned and the unit still reads full. I am guessing I was supposed to manually move the trays back to the empty position prior to reassembly because I dont hear them attempting to move at all. Even after I cleared the memory the car never read the disc trays as empty so that's my best guess.
