I just had my front passenger window replaced due to an attempted break in, and I noticed now that my window sounds very harsh rolling up and down versus my other three windows. The window goes up and down at the same speed as the other windows that wasn't touched, but now its just not as quiet as the others; which to me now is more of an annoying sound.

View 14 RepliesI am a new RCF owner. I have one small complaint - water on the side windows after rolling them down then up again. If I wash my car by hand or get a car wash or it rains, I can't roll my windows down and then back up without a crazy amount of water on them.
Of course when that water on the windows dries it ruins my otherwise clear car. And its not like I am rolling the window down right away. Its hours later or the next day at it still comes back up wet. Its basically to the point where I don't bother rolling my windows down because of the wetness.
I have checked to make sure the bottom drains on the door are clear. As an experiment I took my girlfriends Hyundai Elantra to the car wash and then rolled the window down and up...nothing, no water at all. I don't get it.
So I've noticed an annoyance with my car lately. I've noticed when I turn either right or left upon starting my car, that i hear a small sound, as if a marble is rolling along the inner windshield but it never runs the entire length of the car to the other side. I have noticed when I make a right turn, it occurs on the right corner of the windshield. When I make a left turn it occurs on the left corner of the windshield. Never runs all the way across the windshield like something is actually rolling along the windshield edge or behind the dash.
View 4 RepliesSqueaks, rattles and anything else that makes noise (other than the stereo and especially my wife) You can imagine my total horror when I went around a corner and I heard what sounded like a marble rolling through the roof or dash of the car. I've been able to replicate it a few times but I have to be cornering pretty hard to get it to do it. I have had 1/2 of the top apart.....3/4 of the dash apart, under the hood, in the glovebox and console as well as underneath the frame and I cannot for the life of me find the source of the noise.
View 4 RepliesI have an 01 Passat (old body style) and I know that there is a function on the door that if you use the key to unlock the car you can roll down all the windows that way. The key lock on my door is broken though and has been since I go the car 2 years ago.
For some reason all the sudden now ever time I open my door all the windows roll down. I'm not sure how to stop it or turn off the system. Luckily it hasn't happened in the rain, yet, but I would like to fix it before that happens.
I have had my '16 4 dr S for about a month now, and have had only one issue, well two if you count the fact that my LG G4 will not connect to AndroidAuto. Even when it is dry out and hasn't rained for days, both sides of my windows will be wet after rolling them down and back up. It is almost like the rubber seals act like sponges and coat the windows with water as the window passes through. It is not enough moisture to drip down the windows or cause a musty smell or anything, but it is aggravating.
View 10 RepliesThis is a 2013 Santa Fe Sport. This started as intermittent, but the windows for passenger side have stopped responding to the switches. I can hear the relay in each of the windows click when we hit the buttons but the motor doesn't engage. Sadly I couldn't reproduce before the 60k warranty went up and they won't cover it. They have said its the master control switch, but I don't believe that being that I can hear the individual relays engage on each of the windows when the buttons are pressed. They want $500 to do the master control switch.
View 7 Replies I have a 99 B5 stock with 114,000 on it. On Saturday my wife and I went out for a ride, she had to get something form the trunk so I unlock the doors and she gets out when she gets back in the car I notice the trunk lid light is on and i tell her to close it she said she did so I get out and close it. I noticed when i went to close it the latch wouldn't engage. I turn the car off and try to use my key to lock the trunk, I noticed the alarm doesn't engage when I try to lock it. I then try to start up the car and it wont start.
I pop the hood everything looks good I try it again no luck after about twenty minutes of testing, I decide to disconnect the battery. The car starts right up but while im driving i notice the trunk lid light comes back on and my doors keep trying to lock, then my windows go down for no reason...What is going on, I have heard that some passats have a real bad electrical problem with time but what causes it and is this something Im going to have to bring to the stealership to get fixed.
When I drive with windows down I can hear a whirring from the motor. Its like if it is low on power steering fluid. Its not constant with RPM. I am pretty sure the steering is electric but WTH can it be? I am dreading winter cause I will have windows down all the time then and I will have to crank the stereo to block it out.
View 12 RepliesA little over a month ago, I was headed to the car wash for a final detail before trading my '06 GS300 in for a newer model LS460 the following day. Some dim bulb with no insurance t-bones me, but t-bone might give the impression that the hit was harder than it was. I swerved as far as I could, but he still managed to hit the passenger side rear quarter to the tune of $4500.
I get the car back today, and as I'm checking things out with the body shop (gas door open, trunk open, ps rear door open, factory gaps, blends, details, etc. After we get the gas and trunk to open, I'm content, and I leave. I'm driving down the highway, and I realize that only the DS window will go down. I toggle the window lockout, nothing. I physically reach behind & roll the DS rear window down, then it starts going up & down with the button, like the front DS window. I try the same thing on the passenger side, no workie.
Is there anything obvious I should check? Honestly, I would rather take it to the dealer than take it back to the bodyshop- they pooched many aspects of the repair.
Parked my car at work today and around 4:00 a few people stopped by my office to let me know that all of my windows were down in my car. I was like ..that weird. So I went outside and lo and behold all of the windows were down and the sunroof was open. That is odd I though. So I closed them all and no further problems.
Did I perhaps sit on my FOB and press the buttons a certain way that made all of the window go down?? My office is 2 doors down from the outside of the building where my car is parked, so the signal from the FOB would have to have traveled pretty far?
Other than that, my car has 73K miles and has been flawless!!
Got this weird vibration I noticed today. Car is in D. Stopped in place. Close all windows, and hold the window switches for an extra second.
I hear something in the engine compartment get a little louder, and the car vibrates a little..... until I let go of the window switch. What is it?
The last couple of days I've noticed a strange sound that come on under boost accelerating at highway speeds. It's a harsh ssshhhh sound that rises in frequency with engine RPM, sort of between a wood lathe and a bench grinder. happens under mid to WOT. It almost seems like I am loosing a little HP as well but I can't confirm that. It's loud enough to hear it in the cabin and with the windows down I can definitely hear it. It's not really fluttering, that I'm used to being on my 3rd tuned 2.0T

Now I know I know....dealership can set the settings for my unlock button to automatically set my windows down and sunroof back. But as we all know going to the dealership for anything is so annoying. That being said.... How to set/program it?

View 2 RepliesHaving a sound from my exhaust. Basically when the car is rolling along around 25 MPH or so, and my foot is not on the gas, as soon as I gently touch the gas pedal, I get a soft "thump" sound. This basically tends to happen in 5th or 6th gear only.
The previous owner had done a muffler delete on the stock exhaust so I figured there was some sort of back pressure issue because of this.
Finally out of frustration, I sprung for a new Borla Catback exhaust system, hoping to eliminate this issue. While the thump sound is slightly less, it still happens!
About a week ago I started hearing this creaking sound from the front end when rolling slowly, in or out of gear, but not all the time. Today I heard it all through the stop and go traffic in NYC, and louder than ever (even my wife admitted that it existed!) but later, traffic eased up, and during and after about 40 mins. of 60 mph, the sound was gone, even when we re-entered town traffic. We parked briefly during the noisy period this morning, and I was able to reproduce the sound when pushing the front end down. Now, after the highway driving, no sound! Nothing else seems to be wrong. What the heck could this be? CV joint? Tie rods? control arms? The steering?
View 3 RepliesI have 2013 Elantra GS which recently was hit in the rear. The damage was not major but the strike seemed significant.
All body work has been finished and we have yet been unable to identify the rolling sound coming from underneath the driver seat or to the rear of the seat.
The sound can be reproduced when lurching the car forward after a heavy brake and then when returning to drive, the sound happens again somewhat like something is rolling back into position.
I bought a 2010 GLS 4cyl and within the first week started having shifting issues. Initially it was only when it was colder than 30 degrees outside and would only shift harshly between 1st and 2nd. Once I had driven a few miles and warmed the car up, everything was OK. It's still an intermittent issue, but now it will do it when outside morning temps are in the 50's and 60's.
I've read the TSB for 6cyl 09's and saw a post in the Santa Fe forum that sounded identical, so at least I'm not the first to experience this.
I took it back to the dealership knowing it probably would not shift badly when they test drove it because we had run out of cold mornings. I picked the car up after they reset adaptive learning and said there were no updates available for the computer. (And also being told I had bad gas in the car. Another story for another time...)
Until it starts doing it at fairly regular intervals, there isn't any use taking back to the dealership as it's very inconvenient for me to get there.
I checked the link that had TSB's and didn't see anything for the 2010's. Also, is there any place where I could check and see when software updates come out and what issues are addressed?
i drained the 30000 mile fluid two weeks ago because it was harsh downshifting when coming to a stop... I was curious if others noticed a lot of metal sludge sticking to the magnetized drain plug???..
