I have a '07 GS350 RWD with 121k miles. I had my transmission fluid drained and refilled at 90k miles.
Every time I go into reverse, there's a clunk noise. But all my gears shift smoothly.
I just got a 2009 lexus gs 350 everything is perfect except when i go into reverse and back up slowly the brakes make a loud squeaking noise!! Its really annoying and embarrassing. I got the rotors resurfaced and nothing.

View 1 RepliesNo codes, transmission makes a slight grinding noise when putting it into reverse only. Has a slight bump from 1st to 2nd. I flushed 16 quarts of the sp3 through it. Been researching and see a lot of talk about the output and input sensors. Not my car but my sisters. Needs axles, timing belt water pump, ps return hose, plus have champions in there and old ass hyundai wires.... thing does idle rough, motor mounts are new.
View 1 RepliesThe other day I had my windows open while backing up and noticed that the brakes make a clicking noise when I initially apply them while in reverse.
This happens every time I'm in reverse and I apply the brakes.
The clicking is only when I first step on the brake, but it happens every time I first step on the brake in reverse.
Maybe this is unique to the LS600hL (2008)? Are brakes on my LS different from brakes on LS460 / LS460L?
2009 Sonata 2.4 AT 111,000 miles and at start up sometimes I hear a squealing noise from the transmission for a few minutes and then it goes away...

View 14 RepliesLast week when I had my car at Lexus dealership for the air bag recall, they took it upon themselves to do an inspection and came up with a few "recommendations".
The one that intrigues me is "found transmission mount worn/loose" recommend "replace transmission mount".
I will take car to my friendly local repair shop this week (never go to Lexus dealership unless it's free).
I'm no mechanic but I've been around cars for a long time and I've never heard of this before: besides the car only has 50000 miles on it.
Am I possibly being scammed or is this legit?
Accidently ejected my map dvd...located just under my Nav screen under a piece that has Lexus on it. It slides right up and the dvd came out. Cant get it to stay in now. Only makes clicking sound! So frustrated. How do I get the dvd player out? Removing the dashboard? My dvd player isn't in the dashboard though!
View 1 RepliesI got a 2006 3.3l v6 sonata and for the past 6 month I have no had reverse which sucks let me tell you but I've looked into my codes it's throwing out. Anyway when I throw it in reverse it doesn't lock on it just spins making a kind of whining sound,
And when I'm driving it I take my foot off the gas or I slowly push the break it will jump down to third gear and get stuck I'll be doing 40mph at 4K RPMs, what this could be or what I should do?
I have been wanting to get the new GS. My friend/coworker bought one a few months back and I have been going out to lunch with him many times over the past months. The only two things that kept me holding my breath forever are: (1) wood trim my wife would NOT say yes to a car with wood trim in it! Don't ask me why. And I don't feel like ignoring wifeys opinion. I can only tell her that if she wants a Lexus or a Benz, start getting used to wood ASAP (2) the new GS engine's idle noise seems to be a lot louder than any old GS and LS. Every time I get into my friend's car, I hear this ringing noise. It's actually louder than a lot of other Toyota-made or Honda-made cars. Of course once I get into the GS, I can't hear no noise at all which is great. But on the outside, it sounds like a car that needs serious valve adjustments done.
I mentioned the noise to a Lexus dealer two months back when I test drove a GS. He said the noise is from the new direct fuel injection mechanism. So it is a side effect of a feature, not a bug. The noise sounds like a very fine high pitch valve tapping noise. Imagine tiny pieces of metal ringing somewhere in the wheel well. Gen 3 GS owners, can you confirm what I am hearing? Is that noise normal? Do the other non-Lexus fuel injection cars exhibit the same symptom?
Having issues with brake noise when only in reverse? I have extremely loud break noise only when I reverse out. Could this just mean I need to get a break change?

View 10 RepliesI own a 2005 Sienna CE with about 100,100 miles. In the past couple of weeks, I noticed that when I go into reverse, the car makes a whistling noise. At first I thought it was when I press on the brakes but it appears to make the noise even when not braking. It does not do this all the time; only sometimes. It appears to do it more when reversing and going down a slope.
I tried googling this but couldn't find anything. Some people say the brakes which were all replaced a couple of months ago.
Not sure if it is related but the car also makes low chirping noise when driving about 40 miles per hour.
2002 f150 fx4 ... I changed both front cv shafts cause they were making noise and the u joints and I still have a clicking noise in reverse if I turn my wheel at all to the right ...
View 1 RepliesMy 2006 AWD LTD 500 has about 52000 miles on it; a slight rattle/clunking noise is intermittently heard on driver's side in engine compartment. Took it in to dealer who says motor mount is cracked and front stabilizer bar joints are worn and both need replacing. Car has only been driven on highways or for short trips (3-4 miles) and has had no impacts nor been driven over rough roads or run over any potholes or such. Should the motor mount be damaged? At 52K miles?? Never heard of such a thing. Ditto, the stabilizer bar joints: worn out in under 60K miles? What can I do about this? Who seek relief from? Ford warranty is, of course, over, and supplemental warrenty will only cover motor mount replacement but not stab bar. Are these parts routinely wearing out at such an early date that repair shops can reap the rewards???
View 4 RepliesSometimes when my car as sitting at an idle in either drive or reverse the motor starts to make a knocking noise from the back of the motor towards the firewall side on the top of the motor. I have a video. The car has 114k I just changed the oil I thought maybe it's low but it's not and hasn't moved since it was changed.
View 4 RepliesI remember seeing a post a while back stating that the reverse sensor would make a clicking noise (when you're ear is up against the sensor) when working properly, I only had one working but I figured I'd replace them all since the 4th one was sure to go out . Fast forward to using two different sets of sensors, and not a single has worked or made that clicking noise like I would assume it should be. Can an aftermarket head unit cause these sensors to not work properly or have I just gotten two bum sets?
View 3 RepliesMy manual transmission has been making some funky ringing type sounds when cold. Pretty sure it's the trans since pressing the clutch in stops it. It always happens around 2k and is worst when engine breaking. When I just start the car there is a very very faint ringing that goes away as soon as I press the clutch even a tiny bit.
The car has about 45k miles and the clutch itself feels strong and shifting is absolutely fine, I changed the oil to Redline the past summer. Maybe throw out bearing?
I have just changed my transmission because the old one failed me and i notice that it makes a buzzing noise. It only makes this noise while in drive or reverse but when parked the noise goes away. My car runs perfectly normal but doesn't seem to "sound" as if it did. Its a 2000 lincoln ls. V8 4d sedan....

Hearing a "clunk" lately when switching into reverse in the AM after starting the car. The transmission seems to drive completely normal otherwise. So I checked the trans fluid and it's fine. Then I started looking at mounts. Upper engine mount has about 1mm of play, lower mounts don't budge. Then I went to the transaxle mount and found that there seemed to be almost 2cm of space (can easily fit my fingers in there) between the stopper and the transaxle crossmember (picture attached). When I have someone put the car in reverse while I am underneath (obviously we have the brake / parking brake engaged so I don't get run over) I see this stopper move upward and can see the entire drive shaft move upwards also. Not just a few mm, but on the order of centimeters. I could not get the clunk to occur to see if I can hear where it comes from.
Is this space and movement in the stopper and drivetrain normal?
If it's not normal, could this cause the clunk to happen?
It it's not normal, should I have it repaired on this vehicle? Is it hurting anything / worth it long term?
If it's normal, any other advice on sorting out the clunk? It does it about 75% of the time I shift into reverse, but seems less likely when the car is warm.
