Normally my head light turn off automatically when I turn off the engine and open the driver's door. Now, it works randomly which caused my battery to be drained.
I feel that the sensor on the door does not trigger to tell the car to turn off the lights.
First problem is, for the first 6 months or so I had my 08 460, the headlights would automatically turn off when I opened the door, now it doesn't. I have to manually click back the light switch inside. It's more annoying because I'm used to just leaving the car and they turn off when opening the door so I didn't notice they were on when I left the car during the day only to come back hours later to a dead car. Needed a jump. Not sure if there a way to change the settings for this that I might have changed?
Second issue is ever since I got my car every single time I start my car my mirrors are in a different position, they're almost always way too high so I can't see cars in the lanes and end up readjusting them while I'm driving which becomes annoying when you have to do that every day, I've set the mirror settings on my memory for all 3 settings, and if I hit memory before driving they'll go to that, so I don't know why they change. The mirrors function properly with the controls so they're not broken.
It's strange because it doesn't happen over every bump and sometimes doesn't go off over pot holes, but switching lanes and going over the lane reflectors on the road will set it off. It happens only on the driver's door. I tried a DIY and while it doesn't happen as often as it use to, it still goes off from time to time.
Car is an 08 GS350 RWD.
I recently purchased a 2006 GS 300 AWD from a friend with about 90k miles. After getting accustomed to this vehicle, I began to notice that the driver's side door handle does not automatically unlock the door as I know it should.
I've troubleshooted and changed the settings for each door handle through the key fob to unlock every door instead of just the drivers door. Every other door handle sensor works, besides the drivers door. I can lock and unlock doors with every other door handle but can not lock or unlock from the drivers side door sensor or the button on the door handle.
I've changed my key fob battery as I read that that might have something to do with it, but alas, no luck and I doubt that was the problem since the other doors have worked fine since I've gotten the car.
Do the sensors on these door handles go bad? Is there a way to replace them and are parts/labor expensive?
When I bought my 2003 20th it was completely stock, except for a pos blow off valve had been installed, and get this, the diverter valve was left on, and just capped off. I installed a no name CAI, and the check engine light came on, i had it turned off and when i start the car, or rev the engine high at all, triggers again.
View 4 RepliesI wanted to know where the door trigger is located and how exactly do i wire it to the viper system. After some research, i think that the door trigger wire is located about the kick panel at the bottom left connector, which would be a white/red wire. I have always tried this and never had luck.
Second question is when I actually do find the correct door trigger, which wire on the viper harness do i connect it to, The door trigger negative or the door trigger positive.
I'm still trying to get a feel for the car and I've noticed that I have to slam the hatch door in order to get the sensor to turn off. I'm hoping I can adjust the sensor or latch. Thought I'd post this while I'm free to do so. its not really a big deal. I'm just curious what others have to say about it since I'm new to Passat wagons.
View 5 RepliesI have a 2010 sonata GLS which just turned a year old today. About a month or so ago I bought a 8000K HID kit. Its been working fine but the other night i went to leave a friends house and my headlights would not turn on at all. I replaced the fuse and still nothing. All the wiring is fine on the kit and inside the harness and the headlight. I don't know what to do. I have 2500K yellow high beams and I've been driving with them for the last few days but they blind people and i hate driving with them on. This didn't start until the day i took the car to the dealer for an oil change. what should i do?
View 1 RepliesI recently acquired a 2006 V-8 and am enjoying it greatly. It will be quite a while before I learn all the things this terrific automobile can do. One apparent disappointment, however, is that it seems that the headlights (except for daylight) do not turn off automatically after the ignition is turned off. In other words if I absent-minded fail to notice the reminder "dinging" I could be out of luck. Is this correct? It seems odd to me given that by 2006 many sub-premium cars had auto-turnoff.
View 5 RepliesOk been having some electrical issues. Im a disabled war vet and cannot afford overpriced mechanics so me and dad try to fix everything. Started weeks ago while driving if I flashed my high beams on I would lose power which made me think it was the altenator at first. Car left me stranded so had it towed to dads where we are trying to track down the problem on a 96 lexus es300. Now the car wont turn over although I do hear a clicking from the relay upfront. The headlights wont come on and door locks and security system no longer work.
Battery is new and good so we thought it was the ignition. Replaced today after tearing apart most of the dash to get to it . It fired up and cranked once then ceased to turnover yet again. When it turned over headlights and all power worked to door locks again. Fuses all seem good but seems there is an intermittent problem somewhere. Checked the 40amp fuse and it looked slightly blackish but intact and checked with volt meter and it tested fine. Im not sure where to go from this point. Maybe the integration switch or starter relay??
I'm wondering if it's possible to turn on the foglights without the headlights on the 2013+ LS460. I understand it's not possible without modification on 2007 - 2012 models, but I'm wondering if anything's changed.
Ideally, I would want to run the foglights as "daytime running lights", preferably without modifications.
Should the garage door opener buttons (1 through 3) light up at night with the headlights, etc. on...? I
'm thinking they should and I'm missing a "turn on" somewhere.
They are very hard to see in the dark.
I have a 2007 and I've just developed my first problem since I purchased the car new in 2007. While driving, my headlight(s) will turn off by themselves.
Sometimes it's the right one, sometimes it's the left one, and sometimes they will both stop working. Turning the headlight switch off and then on brings them back to life.
What part in the headlight system is causing this?
I have a 2006 Dodge Caravan, on two separate occasions the headlights turned off and we could not get them on for several minutes. And on one occasion we couldn't turn them on. Now they seem to be working fine right now. The bulbs seem to be okay, I was thinking maybe a relay but I can't find a relay for the headlights. What it could be?
View 3 RepliesJust had both my low beam D4S headlights replaced at an auto shop. Once I turn the car on or flick the low beam headlights on, they turn on for about 10 seconds and then the driver followed by the passenger low beam headlights turn off. Why this is happening as both bulbs are brand new. Before I had the bulbs replaced only one bulb worked so I elected to get both replaced.
View 2 RepliesThe passenger side door of my 08 Accent Hatchback got frozen after cold icy rainy night. I forced it open after few try, and found the rubber seal underneath the door was ripped off (ice in it). I put it back in, but after turn the engine on, the airbag light is on.
After some google, I think I damaged or disconnected the sensor in the passenger side door panel. How to fix it?
Strangest thing just happened. Went to go open my door as I always do, and when I touched the handle sensor it beeped several times (more than the 2 times it does to unlock), and it didn't unlock. I would use my keyfob to hit unlock, but again when I tried to pull the handle open it was locked and kept beeping.
The passenger side seemed to work. Eventually I used the physical key to unlock the driver door and it worked. Didn't happen again after I locked/unlocked. Was there an issue with the electronic locking/unlocking mechanism?
I ran into this problem on my 2006 GS 430. It was caused by the lights beginning to wear out. It started on my left bulb and then both started doing it. The info was a great as originally I thought it was the ballasts. These are very expensive and hard to change.
One other word of caution, make sure the car is off for at least an hour so the high voltage in the ballast dissipates. These bulbs operate at something like 50,000 volts and that will definitely stand your hair up.
Where are the door sensors located?
The ones that turn the light and off when you open and close the doors.
It use to be switches on the old trucks and cars.
But on my 2006 F-250 I can find anything that seems to do that function, nor is anything mentioned in the repair manuel.
My Gs350 headlights are HID's I'm not sure if I'm suppose to change the bulb or the ballast itself... It does it on both lights and they both go out randomly or at the same time...
View 14 RepliesSo I've been taking apart my 06 GS430 for about a week now. Dealing with all the small kinks I'd like to get out of the way.
One major and possibly costly fix are my headlights. Since I purchased the car back in 2012 the headlight lenses were slightly cracking on the inside but not so bad. Though now it's more noticeable than ever and it's really bugging me. I've never had an experience taking headlights apart nor do I have the talent to do so. I'd probably go to a friend that does this type of stuff..
My question before I end up spending an arm and a leg on new headlights. Can these be restored in any way?
