Where the this ecu is located. I believe it's behind the glove box, but I want to be sure before I take it out again, wasn't sure which connector it belonged to. 2006 GS300.
View 2 RepliesWhere is the camera for the back-up screen located? Occasionally we have gotten splashed and when I put the car in reverse, it is very difficult to see because the splashes are obscuring the view. If I knew the location of the camera, I could try to clean it.
By the way, had my first opportunity to drive our 450h In the snow. The snow was coming down hard, it was night time, back roads in New England, taking our daughter back to boarding school. The roads were very dark, not yet plowed. I was so focused on seeing the road ahead that I didn't even notice how steady the car had been (no skidding or 'fish-tailing') until we got back to our hotel.
Is there anyway to view the backup camera when the car is not in reverse? During driving, while stopped, etc.?
View 14 RepliesJust bought this 11 gs350 and car is great except that the reverse camera does not activate when the car is put in reverse. The side mirrors tilt down and the rear shade will lower when put in reverse but the screen just stays on the navigation screen no flicker or black screen.. What could be the problem?
View 7 RepliesMy reverse camera goes over the mirror, its a mirror when not in use and a camera when in reverse. The way this one is set up, the camera taps switched 12 volts at the rear of the car (tapped trailer connector for these) and the video signal runs forward (ran under headliner to center console to mirror). The monitor needs 12 volts, ground, and + 12 volts when I shift into reverse. I just read a half dozen threads where people suggested tapping into a black wire with pink stripe in the driver's kick panel. Just checked, no such wire on mine. I do not want to run a wire back from the taillight, this seems backwards since the power goes from the front of the truck to the reverse light in the taillight I just need to find the right wire. I checked the reverse relay and the fuse in the fusebox and they are both 12 volts when the truck is on, so they must be prior to the reverse switch.

View 2 RepliesI got in my car this morning to drop my sister off to school and when I put the RX in reverse nothing happened for a second or two and then all of a sudden it jerked back. I continued to reverse off the driveway thinking what the heck just happened. When I put the car in drive the reverse camera stayed on as I drove off.
When I noticed this, I pulled over to the side and put the RX back in park and turned it off. I then turned it back on and the area on the dash that shows what gear your in, never turned on. My sister was getting late so I dropped her off and came home.
I turned the car off and waited 30 seconds before turning it back on. This time the reverse camera didn't engage in reverse and the small screen that displays what gear your in, displayed no image. Then a few seconds after that, the check engine light came on and so did the symbol of a car and squiggly lines under it. My RX350 is a 2010, and has just under 85k.
Two random times I put the car in reverse and the back up camera showed a blank black screen. I have to turn the car off and restart It for it to work.
View 6 RepliesMy trailer has surge brakes so I need to tap into the reverse light circuit to convert the 4 wire trailer harness to 5 wire. The reverse light wiring runs in the lower cargo area anywhere...trying to avoid having to trace it from the hatch into the headliner.

View 2 RepliesNot sure what happened but my back up camera angle changed . It's picking up a bit of license plate and trunk now. Maybe wife slammed the trunk or something like that even though I said many times to be gentle with the trunk when closing. Is the camera adjustable?
View 6 RepliesSo when I got my car a couple months ago there was this problem where the backup camera wouldn't come on every now and then when I shifted into reverse so I decided to get it fixed under warranty. the dealership said the problem had to do with the whole infotainment system or something so they gave me a whole new center console and navigation screen for some reason but after I got my car back a couple days ago it was working fine up until today where the back up camera won't even come on at all anymore. I've driven the car about 5 different times today and the backup camera never came on once.
View 3 RepliesI have a 2012 camry hybrid that had the stock push button radio and I wanted to add a backup camera. So I picked up a 2013 camry entune display head unit to replace the stock one without a display.
The backup camera does not work when the car is in reverse and I see that the mpg and other data does not update on the radio display, although all of the same data is displayed on the instrument cluster.
I own a 2015 passat, yesterday in ny it rain the whole day. I went to reverse and the screen told me "the rear view camera not available" the first time it has happen to me, now it's working fine.
View 6 RepliesI looked in the trunk of my GS350 when my car was parked in the garage and it looked pretty dark in there. I shut off the garage lights and the trunk was just as black as everything else.
Is there supposed to be a trunk light in this car? Every car I have ever owned, Hondas, Nissans, and my other Lexus had trunk lights, so I think this is pretty weird if they didn't include a trunk light.
If there is a trunk light then where it's located so I can check it out?
I bought a DVD player for my 2010 corolla,everything is ok the only problem is I can't see reverse image automatically when I reverse my car.

View 6 RepliesI just got back from being gone awhile to find that my rear view camera has stopped working. I get a message that says "rear view camera system is currently unavailable" when I put the car in reverse.
The camera does come out like it should so I'm guessing it's something to do with wiring maybe a short or something. I have a 2014 RCD-510 with the camera input...
So I completed the install of the OEM reverse camera with ECS wiring harness. I followed the wiring diagram, tapped into power at the back of the head unit according to this thread but nothing works. Neither the hatch lever nor the camera. I have to open the hatch manually from the inside.
I double checked the wiring diagram and everything is correct. I also plugged the old hatch wiring harness directly into the new camera by bypassing the ECS harness, and afterwards the hatch lever actually works... however, with the wiring harness installed, with the old hatch wiring harness inserted into the ECS wiring harness, the hatch lever does nothing.
Does the handle need power to function?
Did I tap into the wrong location for power? I was going to use a fuse tap, but couldn't get the fuse tap to plug in so I used the head unit. Where did people tap into for power? Did people use the red/white wire at the back of the head unit? I redid the connection with a simple twist joiner but things still don't work.... I also ran a new power line through the car to see if that would solve things. So is my problem:
1. faulty wiring harness
2. improper power supply
3. faulty camera unit
4. other.
I have a weird problem with my 2006 with HID headlights and 78k miles. When I turn on the headlights, the reverse camera turns on & so do the back-up white lights. I can clear the reverse camera by pushing any button, but the back-up lights are a big problem. No codes are being seen via ODB, everything else works great, and no fuses appear to be blown.
