135 plus pound passenger with seat belt on. Was intermittent on/off with passenger but now seems always off (off light 'on' ) meaning the passenger airbag is disabled.
I know the es350 was so bad like this that there was a threat of class action. I've read the weight sensor is in the passenger seat rail and you can also do a calibration with a scan tool.
Here's the situation. When my wife sits in the passengers seat, the "Passenger air bag off" light comes on half the time. It will turn off half of the time (meaning the air bag is on) but the other half of the time the light is on. It turns right off when I sit in the passengers side and stays off, the problem is only when she sits there.
I've had the recall fix on the passengers side seat done already, (before, the light was always on). I don't think it's her size either, she's 5'8" so it's not like she's too small. She's tried sitting in different positions, but we can't figure out what's doing it.
I recently bought a used 2006 Sonata LX. I have noticed that the passenger airbag light on the dash above the heater controls flashes constantly when I drive alone (no passenger). Is there a way to turn that off? It's pretty annoying at night.

Whenever a passengers seats the seat-belt light does not blink, but airbag warning on my dashboard is still turned on. I went to the dealer and they told me to replace the cushion for the passenger.
View 19 RepliesI have been able to disable the seat belt buzzer in both my 2007 and 2011 GS 350. But unfortunately, it doesn't 'stay'. Next time I start the car the buzzer is back. I used to have a 2009 RX 350 as well as a 2009 ES 350 and I had no problem whatsoever permanently disabling the seat belt buzzer in those two cars.

Now I realize the seat position memory is not working for both the driving and passenger seats. Not only the button does not move the seats, but I can't set the new positions into the memory either.
View 2 RepliesQuick question about the air bag light function for the passenger seat. When no one is sitting in the seat it does not display "on" or "off" by the clock. When I sit in the seat it displays "on" Shouldn't the light always display "off" if no one or someone too light is sitting in the seat? Is this normal, or is there something wrong with the sensors in the seat?
View 2 RepliesA few weeks ago, a relative was riding in the front passenger seat and asked me why the light said "passenger airbag off." I had seen that on before and didn't think anything more about it as I rarely have a passenger. Called Toyota to login the problem as I was traveling that week and thought I would be out of warranty before I could get it to the dealer. That particular light was on for some days afterwards and then I forgot about it. Tonight I noticed that "passenger airbag off" is not lit, but there is a light saying "airbag off."
I turned the car on and sat in the passenger seat, and the light that came on for my aunt didn't come on. Just "airbag off."
The passenger airbag light only works 50% of the time there is a passenger in front seat. I've moved the seat forward and backward .. But ultimately the passenger must unbuckle, step out if the car , and sit back down in order for it to work. I took it to the dealer with its silver warranty package and the dealer can't find a code so won't fix it. "If it keeps doing it, come back." I'm not going to drive 20 miles out of the way, on one if the 50% chance days that it doesn't work.
View 19 RepliesI recently noticed that when my girlfriend sits in the front passenger seat the light will randomly indicate that the passenger airbag is off. I took it to the dealership, they ordered me a new light to see if that is the problem.
Its really weird, she will be sitting in the same position for over a hour sometimes and then it will suddenly say that her airbag is off. the dealer said they tested the seat switch and it was working properly.
I will be bringing it in this week sometime and we will see what they say about the light. For now I have decided to take a picture/video everytime it happens to document it.
Last winter I had to replace my front passenger seat. The seat was starting to burn a hole or two, generally getting too hot for the passenger. At about the same time my airbag warning idiot light came on! I changed my front seat. The seat change was no biggy, but I keep getting the airbag light! Can this be cleared simply or only by a dealer?

My passenger (wife) finds the light obnoxious to have to look at, and I can't blame her. The customization section of the user manual doesn't seem to address this

I have a unique situation:
•No passenger: light is "Airbag" - No red flashing seat belt sign
•Passenger with seat belt: light is "Airbag" - No red flashing seat belt sign
•Passenger with no seat belt: light is "Airbag" - No red flashing seat belt sign
I have no other warning lights on the dash.
I tried to check to check if there are any loose wires/connectors under the passenger seat but everthing looks ok.
Is there a blown fuse?
I'd like to turn off the passenger-side airbag in my 2006 Prius. I have a dual swing arm laptop mount that rises from the seat bolts on the passenger side seat and the apparatus sits clearly in front of the airbag. To give a visual of what I'm talking about, some pictures of the laptop mount can be found here.
For safety's sake, I need to turn off the airbag to prevent the possibility of crushing the passenger's chest or face in the event of a frontal collision. I'm trying to avoid a trip to the dealership as they can be pretty hesitant to do something like this. (Which is understandable, but in my case, I need to have this modification done.)
Only thing I did was put groceries on the passenger front seat and floor in front of the passenger seat!!
View 1 RepliesWe have had a 2006 Prius for almost 2 years now. In the past few months the passenger airbag seemed to become intermittent where the light would say "Off" even with a passenger. More recently it stays that way all the time. Also, the seatbelt warning light does not come on with a passenger when this light says "Off." In my early searches, I found some references to problems with the wiring harness, so I fiddled under the seat.
On two separate occasions I have unplugged and plugged in one of the connections and the airbag works. The first time, it only worked once. The second time, it worked for about a day. The first time, the car was off when I unplugged it. The second time, I foolishly did it while we were going down the interstate. When I plugged it back in, the red malfunction light came on. We turned the car off next time traffic stopped and it worked as it should when we turned it back on. I don't know if it might be the pin connectors, loose wires, or something else completely.
When my son, who is 83lbs rides in the passenger seat, the airbag OFF light comes on. This behavior does not seem to be consistent. Does seat position have anything to do with this? Is his weight too low to trigger the sensor? Or is it something to refer to the dealer? This query is for a 2013 RX350 with about 1,700 miles on it.

Also up and down does not work.. Am I screwed or might this be a fuse? Strange, I would have thought the Driver seat would have failed first.
View 2 RepliesHave a 2010 GX 460 with dual dvds in the head rests. They are OEM not aftermarket. Both worked great until I had the car detailed a few days ago. Now the one behind the driver's seat works but the one behind the passenger seat does not. The screen changes from a dark color to a slightly lighter color but never gets a picture.
