View 14 RepliesAccidently ejected my map dvd...located just under my Nav screen under a piece that has Lexus on it. It slides right up and the dvd came out. Cant get it to stay in now. Only makes clicking sound! So frustrated. How do I get the dvd player out? Removing the dashboard? My dvd player isn't in the dashboard though!

Every time I go into reverse, there's a clunk noise. But all my gears shift smoothly.
I have been wanting to get the new GS. My friend/coworker bought one a few months back and I have been going out to lunch with him many times over the past months. The only two things that kept me holding my breath forever are: (1) wood trim my wife would NOT say yes to a car with wood trim in it! Don't ask me why. And I don't feel like ignoring wifeys opinion. I can only tell her that if she wants a Lexus or a Benz, start getting used to wood ASAP (2) the new GS engine's idle noise seems to be a lot louder than any old GS and LS. Every time I get into my friend's car, I hear this ringing noise. It's actually louder than a lot of other Toyota-made or Honda-made cars. Of course once I get into the GS, I can't hear no noise at all which is great. But on the outside, it sounds like a car that needs serious valve adjustments done.
I mentioned the noise to a Lexus dealer two months back when I test drove a GS. He said the noise is from the new direct fuel injection mechanism. So it is a side effect of a feature, not a bug. The noise sounds like a very fine high pitch valve tapping noise. Imagine tiny pieces of metal ringing somewhere in the wheel well. Gen 3 GS owners, can you confirm what I am hearing? Is that noise normal? Do the other non-Lexus fuel injection cars exhibit the same symptom?
I just bought a new 2015 prius a few days ago. After a couple of days of driving it around, I noticed this clunking noise that lasts about 2 seconds while the car's shutting off its gas engine when the vehicle is at a complete stop. It happens more frequently a few minutes after I started driving the car. When the car is coming to a stop and the 'EV' light is not on yet (only 'ECO' light is on), after the vehicle's made a complete stop, I start to hear this clunking noise (it almost sounds like the noise you hear when you press down your emergency break).
After this noise, I feel the vibration and hear that the gas engine's shut off. I talked to the dealership and they hopped in to hear that noise, and as always, it didn't happen. But as soon as I left the dealership, I hear it again. the car is normal when 'EV' light is on when its coming to a stop (no abnormal noise), but its only when the gas engine shuts off after the car has made a complete stop. And the noise is even louder when the vehicle is on a slope, either uphill or downhill.

I just purchased a 1995 SL1. It has 95,000 on the car. It was a tow vehicle for an older man.It has an automatic transmission. It runs great but makes this funny noise. When you put the car in drive after having it completely shut off and after starting to accelerate to about 5 mph it makes a funny click clack noise followed by a beep. It does not sound mechanical but like a relay or something. It only does it once. As long as you don't turn the car off completely it does not do it again no matter if you put it back in park. If you turn the motor off and turn the key to ACC it does not do it. No other sounds at all. Transmission shifts fine. What it might be?

I get home and turn them and turn them back on and the headlight turns very dim for a couple of seconds, and then shuts off. What this could be? Ballast or Bulb. I have major modifications done to the wheels wells to fit the wheels, so i don't want to take it to the dealer.

I can immediatly shut my lights off and then turn them back on and the light comes on.Is this the Ballast? Is it the Headlight? View 2 RepliesTook my car to the garage needed new back rotors and brakes on my 2010 sonata. I have about 27000 miles on the car. Car is now making a funny noise when I back up ,took it back to shop and he said I needed to break in the brakes. Okay a week and a half later still making that noise!
Nervous because I found out after sitting for two hours in the shop that they were short handed and had to wait for a delivery because they ordered the wrong brakes from the auto parts store. Yes I know ..but I did not want to go to the dealer so I gave firestone a shot.
So It's been a while since I've noticed this wearing rusty sound when moving the driver seat forward and back. It only happens at a certain point where I feel most of my family members are positioned when driving.... I took a look it seemed a bit rusted... Will post pics later.

View 12 RepliesI was trying to change my disk from 12.1 to 13.1 in my 2008 GS 350 AWD. so I ejected the disk via the screen, took it out and put the new one in. Started making a continuous clicking sound and then took the disk half-way out then in then totally out. Ok, maybe a bad disk so I tried to put 12.1 back in and same thing happened. Ok now I tired the original disk that came with the car. Same thing. Very odd. It worked fine up until the second I took it off.
View 14 RepliesMy 2010 RX350 started to make 'hum - hum - hum' noise whiling turning. It is fine while driving straight, only makes this noise while on a curve. If I disable traction control, the noise seems going away, at least it is a lot less.

View 2 RepliesEngine oil has been changed and spark plugs changed. The engine is still making rattling/clicking noise. I checked with a mechanic and he indicated that engine needs to be repaired. Didn't say exactly what needs to be done and stated it would cost about $2200 for parts and labor. Why the engine keeps rattling and making the noise? Oh, before plugs were changed, the engine was shutting off at times when in idle mode.
View 5 RepliesThe Touareg has been a great family car for last 6 years, no issues with it at all until a few months ago, when the hanger bearing or drive chaft bearing went out with only 45k miles. No loger under warranty so $500 later and all was back to normal, until last week when the car started developing a humming noise above 40 mph. Had the local shop look into it, they put the car on the lift with it in gear and seems the noise is coming from the transfer case, i search the site and i have a few questions. Is there a recall on the transfer case?
How much should i expect to pay for a new transfer case? Is this a known problem with these cars like the drive shaft bearing? Car is a 06 with a 6 cyl, still under 50k milles im not sure if i should get it fixed or trade it for a new car

View 14 RepliesRecently my 2006 Azera Limited with 3.8L V6 is making a valve tappet noise when cold - it goes away when the car is driven a few minutes. It now has 142K on it, is it just that the tappet has gotten 'dirty' and is sticking, or is this a sign of a much more serious problem? I am presuming the Azera has hydraulic tappets. There is no lack of engine performance or misfire at all. I have not yet changed its oil, the dealer I bought it from said they changed the oil when I bought it, just under 3000 miles ago. Could they have used the wrong oil? Too thick a grade? I have heard several other possibilities - the 'oil control valve' I think, or the valve lash being out of adjustment - but wouldn't either of these be constant issues? I'm hoping it's just oil related, which could be fixed easily..
