Lexus GS 2006-11 :: Headlight Driver Side Bulb At Times Will Just Go Completely Off

My driver's side bulb at times will just go completely off. Is it the bulb or the ballast shooting craps?

View 7 RepliesMy driver's side headlight bulb started malfunctioning.
Here's the situation so far: Whenever I turned my headlights on, the driver's side bulb would turn off after 5 minutes.
Replaced both bulbs
Drivers side bulb stayed on for about 20 - 25 minutes at first then started going off after just a few minutes
Replaced ballast (new) on drivers side but same results as above where light stayed on for about 20 - 25 minutes at first then going off again after a few minutes. Each time light stayed on for a shorter period of time
Bought 2 more bulbs and replaced both again in case first set was bad. Same thing still happens and bulb tends to flicker at times.
I am at a loss as to why the drivers side light will not stay on after changing the ballast and the bulbs twice. Also, I've noticed that the drivers side bulb is noticeably dimmer than the passenger side bulb even though both bulbs are brand new.
What the problem might be? I'm at a loss now and not sure what to do next.
My drivers side headlight bulb went out a few days ago and I haven't had the time to get a replacement. Any DIY's or tips for changing them out.
View 8 RepliesI had a low beam bulb go out a month ago on the driver side. I bought some silvania silverstars to install on both sides. The drivers side went fine but as I installed the passenger side the inside reflector housing came loose, apparently popping off some spring clips inside the headlight housing. The passenger side headlight assembly now pointed towards the ground 10 feet in front of the car... I tried to adjust the screws to bring the light pattern back up. No joy.
Anyway I messed and messed trying to get the reflector housing to fit back on the spring clips. I ended up having to pull the bumper apart and the whole front side of the car to totally remove the headlight assembly. Once I got it out I found these little ball/socket spring clips and was able to put the assembly back together.
Now my issue is I have lost track of the adjustment screws and where the headlights should point. Any formula such as, "park your car 10ft from the garage door on the flat level. The low beam should be 30 inches off the ground on the bottom and the 40 inches at the top. The beam should be 50 inches from the center line of the car" Something like that so that I can get my headlights back to factory settings.
Checked the tech folder, what is the secret to replacing the driver side bulb?
View 7 RepliesAfter detailing my car and prepping for winter I noticed moisture in the driver's side headlight. I know this is a common problem with many makes and models besides Lexus and I've done quite a bit of research to re-seal the light. I want to start with the basics first such as checking the vent tube for clogs. Need to point out that vent tube in a photo? I've looked all over and cannot seem to find this tube.
When I was detailing I was using a high-pressure washer. There was quite a bit of moisture and it dried within a few days. I was hoping it was from the high-pressure washer but now it came back. It seems to have come back just from using the headlight washer when I used my windshield washer.
I double checked the dust cap and o-ring seems to be fine. My next task is to remove the headlight assembly and reseal. I've read that some people have luck with just applying a bead along the seal without completely disassembling the lens and resealing (baking method). I'd rather not have to do the entire baking method although I know that can be more thorough.
Am I missing anything here in terms of other known causes? And would a clogged vent tube really cause this?
Lately I noticed that my headlight beams are crossed between passenger and driver side....
When I start up the car, the headlights move down and up for the initializing... all seems fine... While I backing my car out of the garage, I notice that my light beam start to drift closer to each other as I back out further and then finally crossed... the beam from my passenger headlight ended up on the driver side.... and the beam from my driver headlight ended up on the passenger side.
My AFS lamps are working and initializing when the car turn on.
About 3 weeks ago i have noticed that the right headlight doesn't work. I assumed its the bulb and bought a set from kbcarstuff. Installed them today and it still doesn't work. I tried to swap the bulbs and non of them worked in the right headlight and all of them worked fine in the left one. I assumed it is a fuse and went to check it out(number 80 and 81 fuses, 15A are all sweet). Is it the ballast or something also?
View 6 RepliesI need to replace the original driver side HID bulb on my '07 ES350. I intend on doing this myself. I found the thread that listed detailed steps which I'm sure will be very useful.
Any tips as far as getting to the actual bulb? It looks pretty cramped in that area.
I have the adaptive headlights that turn with the steering wheel. Any special steps needed for this headlight?
My 2006 Prius (Model NHW20) has a strange headlight problem. On the passenger side, the high beam light is out but the regular headlight works.
On the driver side, the high beam is working but the regular headlight is out.
I don't think it's the fuses but I'm not sure. No amount of interchanging the following fuses changes anything about the issue:
1. 10A H-LP HI RH
2. 10A H-LP HI LH
3. 15A H-LP LO RH
4. 15A H-LP LO LH
My driver side headlight is dim but not out. Passenger side is normal. Ive checked under dash fuses but maybe not the correct ones? These are brand new bulbs. I replaced them because my driver side went completely out with my hid set up.
View 6 RepliesSo on my 06 passat, the headlight on the driver's side is crooked like severally to the point I have to use my brights at night. Do these cars come with motion headlights? How would I go about fixing this or do I need a new headlamp???
View 5 RepliesWhat's up Lexus enthusiasts and fellow owners I own a 08 LS. Today I noticed that my driver side headlight goes out , I turn it off and turned it back on and it's good to go but after a minute it turns off. This could be a bad ballast . How to change a ballast or headlight bulb in an LS before? Is there a link that I can go to and check it out ? Or this is one of those that the bumper has to come off .
View 9 RepliesMy driver side headlight is dull compared to 2yr old one on the pass side. Where can I get an aftermarket HID one. I don't want to restore it...
View 4 RepliesMy driver side lower beam (projector) will go out after a couple minutes when its turned on. If I flip the switch to off and then on, it turns back on again. Is this a sign of it going out? I am assuming i have the HID version.
View 9 RepliesVery much enjoying my newly acquired CPO sc430 but there's a strange thing that I noticed: When I go over a short-bump or hit a patch of broken pavement, the driver's side headlight seems to flicker for just a split-second. Sometimes it even seems like the other one flickers too. What that can be? Is it normal for this car?
Also, my car has the dreaded brake-clunk that has been discussed in this forum ad nauseum. Is it worth taking it to the dealer even assuming they know how to adjust the clips and grease the system to get rid of it? How long does the "fix" last? I had a 2004 acura TL that did this from day 1 but only on the initial brake application after starting the engine. The SC does it every time I shift from D into R etc.
Drivers side headlight is very dim or not even working with new bulbs. Occasionally it will come on. High beam light is always very dim until you click high beams then its bright blue
Short?
Bad switch??
My driverside headlight randomly stopped working last night after i came out from a restaurant. the driverside was off the most of the ride home until it flickered on. now it randomly will only turn on for a split second then shut off.
i recently had my headlight / front bumper replaced and i was wondering what could cause this? normally if it was hid instead of led i would say its a weak ballast or so but i do not know how the LED headlights work. also the car is too new to have a weak ballast.
i do not believe its a fuse because the headlight will not turn on at all if it was a fuse. i also checked the box and all the fuses look intact.
I have an '07 ES350 with the factory HID headlights. The driver side headlight will start to flicker a few minutes after being turned on and then eventually turn off. Turning the headlights switch off and then back on will turn this headlight back on but it will start to flicker again after a few minutes.
I had this problem last year with the same headlight and took it to the dealer who replaced the HID bulb but now it's back again. I've also noticed it seems to occur during the cold winter months and not so much during warmer weather.
The passenger side HID works fine with no problems. Perhaps it's a loose wiring connection but I'm not sure if this is something that can be checked without taking the entire HID assembly apart.
I have a Subaru Forester 2006. This year, noticed condensation in driver's side headlight after a heavy rain. Not too long after, the headlight blew. (My headlights have been blowing at a frightening rate, but that might be a different thread for another time.). We changed the light and did our best to dry out the inside of the housing. We also checked for leaks by blowing air into the housing, with no luck at finding anything obvious. We put a little flashing on the inside, thinking there might be a problem with the rubber gasket.
Next rain, same problem. We also noticed in a parking lot another Forester, similar vintage, with condensation in both of its headlights. Is this a known problem...
Headlight fogging up after car wash or rain.
Driver side window seal folds over badly, wind noise is evident.
Passenger side lumbar broken .
And finally. The front jerk when applying brakes. It's not there in the morning, gets worse as you start driving, feels like strut bar bushings, but all of the control arms were changed in February. Having a tech join me for a ride to show this problem to him. I'm staring to think it's either caliper, or brake actuator.
