When at a stop light or standing outside of the car while its parked, noticed that the engine noise is particular loud? Almost sounds like a diesel truck, is this normal?
View 10 RepliesI got 4 cyl 2009 sonata and i have a problem when standing still can't REV the engine above 5000 RPM but when driving it does, even if i put it in N mode it does. but when standing still it won't REV higher than the 5000 RPM.
View 7 RepliesMy 2001.5 1.8T wagon w/ tip (stock engine, no mods) has always had an amazingly long "dead time" when I gas it hard from a standing stop. It's less noticeable when I'm in manual mode, but is downright scary in automatic mode in that I wonder if the car is ever gonna take off. When it does take off, it accelerates just fine and goes through the gears without a problem.
If I'm in automatic mode, no significant hesitation occurs if I first give it a little gas just to get going. The situation arises only when starting from a dead stop. I've read elsewhere (not here) that this model does hesitate on initial acceleration, but it seems more pronounced than in other b5's I've had as dealer loaners. Any way to cut down on or eliminate this?
I have a 2006 lexus gs300 rwd and my check engine light came on the code P0021 and the check VSC light is on as well and a knocking noise i checked my engine level and seems to be fine but thats just because im always adding oil since its burning a quart every 500 miles which is a lot so whats going on here? Also my idle seems to drop when at a light any one know about recalls on these cars?
View 4 RepliesMy GX470 idles rough when I'm in "drive" and at a stop. If I drop it into park or neutral it is fine. The 470 has about 98K on it and everything else is great. Looking for a solution to get this smooth again.
View 2 RepliesThe other day, I changed my front brakes just the pads. Everything came out smooth but then later that day i started to notice a clicking noise coming from the passenger side brake I suppose. You can't hear it when you drive or when braking early but you start to hear it when the car slows down and your coming to a stop. Its a constant clicking noise within like 1 or 2 seconds of each other. Its not loud, but its very noticeable with music off. And not to mention, very annoying.
I'm about to take everything apart and reinstall everything to see whats up. BTW its a 2006 GS300 Front brakes. Finding a picture of the wheel off with rotors and whole brakes on. I think I might of put on a clip wrong.
My 2006 lexus gs 300 has this annoying issue where if i would accelerate with light throttle from a complete stop, the car would kick and sort of shake.. This happens the most and basically every time when i would slow down at a stop sign with using the brakes, then let go of the brakes and accelerate again, the car would feel like it has some sort of throttle delay and then you feel a heavy push/kick like the wheels are confused..

While I'm driving my car ( at a rolling speed 5mph-20mph) I get a clicking sound from front driver side when I hit a small bump, stop, and stop and go at a traffic light. Mainly clicking noise when I hit bumps, but when traveling at highway speeds and I hit a bump I do not hear the clicking noise. ITS VERY ANNOYING, and I have never heard this noise after the brutal snow we just got here in MA. Also I should add, I am currently on BC Racing BR type coil overs which I bought brand new and installed in October. Its not clunking like ball joints, or banging like a blown strut mount.
My question; Where to start? Something needs lubrication?
I have an interesting issue that happened today after filling up on the way home from work. I have a 2011 Accent; 5 speed manual with 3900 miles. I filled up my tank and then topped off a little extra (which I now know is a no no) after the pump shut off. I put the cap back on, and after getting a cup of coffee, cranked her up and started on my way home. I drove maybe 20 feet and after coming to a stop, the car stalled. I wasn't sure at this point if maybe I let off the clutch a little too much. I started right back up and drove another 20 feet to a stop sign, and she stalled out on me again.
This time, after starting right back up, I noticed the check engine light was on, and if the car idled, it stalled. This is where it gets a little interesting. I was maybe 5 miles from the dealership where I bought my car. So I made a quick trip to the dealership to see if they could get the codes to determine the problem. After parking at the dealership, I turned off the car, removed the key from the ignition for about 10 seconds, and then started up again for giggles. The check engine light is now gone, and the car doesn't stall when idle. I have an appointment to get my oil changed, and am wondering if the codes can still be pulled?
Is there a replaceable bulb for the check engine light? Mines stop coming on when starting the car. I think that's why I failed the emissions test. I didn't check with the attendant in the office to get an explanation.
View 1 RepliesSo of course the dealership isn't going to diagnose this since "the car's not supposed to be driven that way" - but I get a nasty rumbling noise when I accelerate from a dead stop with wide open throttle. It only lasts for the first few thousand RPMs in first gear, and after that it is gone.
I was guessing that it might be the transfer case or something like that, but it's really hard to tell. I do have AWD. I did not have any such problem in my previous GS, which was a 2007 (current is a 2010). It's worse when I accelerate around a corner, and it also makes a small noise when I'm going above 80ish mph, which of course the dealership isn't going to diagnose either.
So for the past several months i have noticed something going on. There is a little noise almost like a groaning
- When i am at a Stop light and idle but still in Drive.
- When i shift to N or P it stops and goes away.
Sometimes during this i will notice a little rattle or i feel a little vibration but not much and very hard to even notice if it hadn't been for how sensitive i am never would have even noticed this at all. What this could be ?
Happen a few times already. My RCF had problem starting at night only after parking for a couple of hours. During the day the car start fine and never once have starting issue. The problem is when I press the start button the car will try to start then die immediately. Second and third push will be required before the car would start. Is this a problem with fuel pump? I don't hear any noise issue from the fuel pump that others have reported. I notice that this starting problem only happen at a particular hotel that I play tennis at after work. The hotel is at sea level our day time temp is mid to high 80's. At night it is low 80's. Our humidity is quite high at 80%+.. Going to have the car checked on next service.
View 6 RepliesI bought a certified used 2014 GX460 with 16K. I now have 20k. Last week while on vacation, 450 miles away from home, while on a stop light the engine just stopped. I re cranked pulled into Drive and it stopped again. I wanted a couple of mins and it re started. I pulled to a safe area and called my service adviser. He said to keep driving it. Probably just a fluke.
It drove good for the next 45 mins. Later same day we took off again in it. It stopped on me 6 more times. Some were while I was travelling at 60 mph. It just stopped. Had to pull to the side of the road before I lost all steering ability. Kind of scary when a 18 wheeler is on your bumper.
I had it towed to the dealership. They kept if for 5 days. They said they replaced some gaskets around the exhaust valves??? Not areal good explanation.
I drove it 1 1/2 days (45 miles) and it started doing this again. It is at the deal ship now.
2006 Passat 2.0T
- Three days ago, after a cold start, while driving to work "STOP! OIL PRESSURE ENGINE OFF" came on the display and disappeared right away.
- Drove the car to work and did not stop.
- Came back home and saw "Some" Fluid leak on my driveway. I touched it but did not seem like engine oil (I am making this assumption based on the fact that the fluid was not dark, but it was oily".
- I have not received that warning after that single incident.
- I have not seen any new leaks either.
- But, when I press the accelerator, there is a ticking noise.. something like - if you put a card in a bicycle wheel.
My car is due for service. So taking to the dealer day after tomorrow. Miles: 70870....
I have a 2006 Sonata. My check engine light came on and also my ESC light. My car does not accelerate. It takes literally about 40 seconds to get up to 20 miles an hour. I called the hyundai 800 number and they said there is a recall for a "stop lamp switch malfunction".

View 3 Replies2006 Toyota Matrix 60k, brake noise when car is off and parked. I hear a noise when I push the brake pedal. It happens whenever I press the brake pedal. I hear it when the car is on, or even if the car is off. It is a squeaking noise that is coming from outside the car. When I open the door the noise is louder. I only hear the noise when I press the brake pedal.
View 3 RepliesYesterday I was stuck in traffic an smelled a burning oil smell. I thought I was the car in front of me so thought nothing of it. Later in the day as i was sitting and idling i smelled it again so knew it was my car. I came home took of the plastic covers and checked under the engine and oil filter everything was dry and clean. I checked topside could not find anything there either, very clean and no signs of oil or fluid. I can only smell it when parked or stuck in traffic while driving I don't smell anything. Usually happens when I have driven several miles.

View 1 RepliesSeveral times I have gone into my garage to hear a weird noise coming from under the rear of my car, almost sounds like a small air compressor, like one you would plug into the cars power source. If I start the car and immediately turn it off the sound stops, otherwise it will continuously run. The sound does not always present but when it does the car is completely off and the key is not anywhere near it.
