I know this has been covered in other areas of this forum but I didn't see anything that quite fit my situation.
My A/C is abnormally (to me) loud when it runs. Is this normal for other GS owners?
AC condenser punctured by a flying object? Apparently, a projectile about the size of a BB flew through the front grill and punctured my AC condenser coil. No other visible damage to the grill so it had to pass through the grill slats which are about 3/4" apart. Repair runs about $1800 and not covered by warranty.

View 14 RepliesI have an 05 Prius with 108k miles I bought about 2 months ago. My commute to work each morning is 1.5 miles with speeds of 25mph or less.
Usually the car has acted the same way each day. The ice spins consistently as I creep along to work. But last night the temps dropped to -10f and this morning when I left for work it was about 3 above. I turned on the car and instead of the few seconds after ready it takes for the ice to turn on it turned on right away today. I let it warm for about 3 minutes then set off. Right away I noticed the ice start to Rev up.
And as I slowly approached 25 MPH it was revving abnormally high. It was showing energy from the ice to the wheels and to the mg and charging the battery which was at the normal state of charge. All blue, right before green. When I stopped at a light about 1 mile in the ice turned off as normal, and started right away as normal. But it seemed the ice was still revving as if it was working very hard to pick up a slow increase in speed.
I pulled into my parking spot, battery showing green state of charge now, and the motor stopped as usual. I do not run the heat on this trip and it takes usually 5 minutes, so I just tough it out.
So I'm new to the vw world and my 337's engine started to flutter abnormally. So I searched up and down google and vwvortex to troubleshoot the problem. turns out i needed to change my dv so I bought a new one, replaced it how the old one was set up and my engine began to shake and seemed as if it was knocking. 2006 GS430. 120k or so miles.
Dealership replaced solenoid #2, but now say I need a whole new transmission.
Recently traded in a 2004 ES330 for a Lexus Certified Pre-owned 2009 GS 350 AWD with 32,000 miles. Wasn't in the market for a GS but with such low miles and it being a CPO and the price was in my budget so went for it. Once I got it home, I am starting to notice the engine noise, like its kinda loud.
For some reason didn't notice it while doing the test drive but now, its like when I am driving, I get conscious about it so much so that I have to turn the radio on to take my mind off of it.
So was just curious if its the case with every GS. My 2004 ES had less of an engine noise, and I am thinking the GS is a CPO so it shouldn't be something out of the norm but still wanted to get some perspective here for peace of mind.
Took my Prius to the local dealer for 50,000 mile service and got a call that both of my front brake pads were worn below the limit and needed replacing. This surprised me as I have read here and elsewhere that some go 100,00+ miles before needed replacement. So I had them replaced and when I went to pick it up, asked them how much was left on the front brakes the last time I was in, which was for my 45,000 service. After looking it up, guy told me they measured 8mm in February, meaning I went from 8mm down to needing to be replaced in the span of like 9 months after driving 5,000 miles. Even the guy at the dealership seemed surprised when we looked it up. Could there be some underlying issue causing abnormally fast break wear? I vaguely remember getting the brakes adjusted related to some TSB in the spring.

View 7 RepliesI've been trying to get my dealer to take a look at my noisy engine. The loud clicking sound is getting really annoying. When at idle sitting at a red light, my car would click like my old - 1987 Toyota beater..
I brought it in 2 times to have the dealer check it out, but they would said its "normal" and that the high pressure injectors and fuel pump are loud on our 3GS.
So i was wondering to try using heat wrap to try to reduce the noise from the fuel pump. It seems like the fuel pump is making the most noise.
06 GS430 has started making this loud clicking noise when we start the car ... not all the time but very often ... it almost sounds like a jackhammer and is extremely loud. Goes on for a good 20-30 seconds then goes away.
The location sounds like it is coming from the glove box area but not really behind it, more below and behind it..
I have a 2006 Lexus GS 300 and I have had the car for almost two years now. I have noticed that when I use my keyless entry button to unlock and lock the car, its not as loud as it was in the past. My key fobs all have new batteries in them (2 kays for the car). Could this mean that I need a battery soon? When I first got the car, the "beep beep" noise from when you lock and unlock the car was louder, now you can barely hear it.

View 12 Replies2007 GS 350. In the past 6 months i have changed my FRONT brake pads with two different pair. First was a generic pad(REMOVED), and did some research then went for Akebono(CURRENTLY) brake pads 2-months noise-free and now back to braking noise dilemma.
Issues:
-In the morning, first 3-5 pressed brakes makes loud(REALLY LOUD!) humming noise then goes away. Feels like the brakes are rusty but it continually does it everyday. I just got the car serviced so assuming all my fluids are filled.
-Randomly, on a fully stopped brake i hear a whistle noise from the front brake. NOT as loud described above.
-I noticed the noise happened the most on HOT weather, and occasionally on COLD weather.
Longo Lexus advice me to buy an OEM brake pads and should resolve this problem. I'm also thinking of just getting it done at the dealership and pay that extra cash plus warranty.
I have 2010 GS350 and after starting the car several times yesterday there was a very loud clicking noise coming from the dash near the glovebox.
View 8 RepliesI'm having issues with very loud screeching noises on my 08 awd. Sounds like a garbage truck. Lexus said its $625 to replace brake pads and rotors to stop the noise. I'm not really a fan of DIY so is that a fair price for the parts and labor or should I bring it somewhere else?
View 14 Replies2005 Prius shows a C1241 code, which can mean abnormally high or low positive voltage in the auxiliary battery. In my case it appears to be abnormally high, because my voltmeter showed the battery charged to 18 volts with the car off, and when running it showed 20 volts going to the battery. There's also a POA80 code (hybrid battery pack) but I'm not convinced yet that it's a hybrid battery problem. What would cause the overcharging of the auxiliary battery?

View 3 RepliesI own a 2006 GS300 for 4 years and I have about 90k miles on it. Just suddenly today when I went to go turn the car on, I hear a rapid loud clicking noise and the engine will not start. I've done some googling and one possible solution is to disconnect the battery to let the car reset and then connect it back. What the cause is? I've replaced the spark plugs a few months ago, but I didn't replace the battery.
View 13 RepliesMy left headlight has been going off periodically, so to confirm that it's the bulb, tonight I switched the bulbs from left to right/right to left.
The job went very smoothly. It took me about 20 minutes, but I took my time. I buttoned everything back up and turned on the lights. Both sides came on, but I immediately noticed a very loud buzzing/whining sound coming from both headlamps. It is very loud and I know I would have noticed it before at some point over the course of the last three years that I've owned the car. Obviously, this is not normal, but I can't for the life of me figure out what I could have done wrong, if anything.
