My 2008 460 has the damn peeling drip molding on the passenger side. I found a wrecked 07 gs of the same color in a local wrecking yard and I was wondering how hard it is to pull off the drip molding myself. Do I need any special service tools? Don't want to damage my car.
View 2 RepliesOver the weekend I was attempting to detail me car and install my HID Fogs when I noticed that the "Drip Molding" on the right side of my 07' GS350 was peeling. It looks almost like some type of thin cheap painted tape.

When I took it to Lexus of Cherry Hill, they told me that they were "puzzled" and that a service tech that has been there since 1989 has never seen this before. Asked if the car was involved in any accidents......
The car was purchased from a lease. All service records come from Lexus w/ a clean CarFax.
Let me begin by saying I have no clue what this trim or molding is called. It goes from hood to the trunk and runs beside the windshield and rear window and all the way across the top.
Well mine is peeling off. By this I mean the "sticker or decal" that lexus decided to use instead of paint is peeling off and now my car looks like crap. What is the name of this part or how to remove it so I can go have it painted? The dealership offered no assistance besides charging me 1200 to have them taken off and "new ones" put on that have the same sticker piece on them.
I just noticed this happening recently. My passenger side mirror looks like it is peeling. The part that "peeled off", no longer auto dims, while the 90% of the mirror still has dimming. But it looks ugly as heck.

View 1 RepliesI have a '98 Camry. The windshield and side window rubber gaskets/molding is cracking, and there's paint peeling on the roof. I have 166k on it and it runs fine. Do I need to do something about these issues? I'm concerned about water leaks (not yet), but don't care about it cosmetically.
View 2 RepliesI have an 08 Explorer with the 4.6v8. I've noticed the clutch fan on at start up the last few days. Check anti freeze and I was empty in the reserve. While filling the reserve there is a steady drip from the passenger side but I can not see it. It's trickling down the radiator but can't see from where. Is there a common hose, sensor or crack in reserve tank I should be looking for? Car hasn't overheated as of yet. It leaks with no pressure in radiator as well as with.

Looks like clip behind trim snapped. Any kind of glue or adhesive can be recommend that will work?
While clamping trim to door I put a crimp mark in trim. Somewhere down the road I will replace this crimped trim.
Just picked up a new to us 2004 GX470 for my wife.
One of the things wrong with the GX470 is the passenger door exterior molding is unclipped at the bottom. I ordered new clips from eBay and they just came in. Now I just need to figure out how to get the molding off without making the problem worse so I can replace all the clips.
I recently discovered that my lower side molding on my front passenger side door was loose while cleaning away some of the salt stains from the winter storm . how to fix it or do I need a replacement.

The overriding conclusion is: it is easy; you can do it without drilling holes!
OK, let's start with a few photos of the parts. Note the "infamous" clips and double-sided tapes in the third picture.
The leather driver's side armrest, the one that you're able to adjust for driver's right arm, is peeling. The leather looks to have a treatment on it and is peeling off like a bad sunburn. The leather underneath is dull looking and i need to have it recovered. My gx is blizzard pearl and the interior is caramel color or ecru. It just looks awful and i keep it folded up so I don't have to look at it but I am not being able to rest my arm.
View 1 RepliesMy driver side door molding is missing a clip. This is the bottom half of the mold and one of the clips snapped off. I've checked junk yards and they never have any GX's. Just to elaborate the clip I'm missing is on the exterior side of the door, down by the bottom edge.
View 2 RepliesAwhile back I did get my battery replaced and I did reset my windows so they could be used from the driver side panel. As of now, I can roll down all of them from the driver side except for the passenger side rear (window diagonal from driver). The window does roll down from the door itself so the window isn't broken. The light on the driver window switch is lit green, not blinking. However, the light on the window switch on the passenger door is NOT lit and not blinking either. And yes, I did make sure the window lock was not on.
Could the switch, either passenger or driver door, be bad? Should the battery be disconnected and reconnected??
Have owned my 2008 GX470 for about 8 months now and love it. However, over the last month I have noticed the molding between the driver door and roof has been popping out. I don't know if there are clamps down in there that have fallen out or if the molding just needs to be clamped back in. Picture is below.
View 5 RepliesIt's coming off on all 4 wheels and its OEM original paint. I can see other areas where the paint has cracked and starting to lift as well. These Lexus wheel paint really suck... My Volvo alloys are 18 years old and still do not have peeling issues like this!!
