Just bought a 2008 GS450H its done 110000 miles all seemed ok on test drive but I have noticed that when the drive is taken up. I get the feeling something is slipping or excessive play in the final drive possible drive shaft or bearings I know the rear shocks need replacing but would not think they would give me this feeling.

View 6 RepliesI got in the car to start it and everything looked dead. After everything appearing out (no lights in the cabin/dash) and trying it a few times, once (this is the weird part) it gave me the "no key detected" (I had the key of course) and I saw the ignition button light flash red. I needed to be somewhere and replaced my fob battery while out (I knew that was a longshot). When I came back, I tried again and never got anything.
My lights were on the parking light postilion (I must not have twisted all the way), and I hadn't driven the car the previous day, so maybe that drained the battery (though I would have thought I would have noticed the lights were on, as I went through the garage a few times). Wipers were not off either, but that likely doesn't matter.
So I tried to jump it with a Sequoia (12 V in the trunk - used my physical key to open the trunk for the first time). Nothing. As in no electrical activity at all. Repeated process with a jumper unit. Again, I never got any sign of power at all. What replaceable fuse might be worth trying. It would have to be one that knocked everything out.
For the past month or so, I've noticed a rather unpleasant odor in the cabin of my '11 GS450h, which was brand new in April (it was a demo vehicle, never sold or titled). I've never had food in it, never spilled anything, and prior to a month ago, it still had the new car smell.
I can't tell where it's coming from. It isn't a moldy smell at all, but rather something like a dead mouse. Simply put, it smells like hot garbage that's been sitting in the garage for a few weeks.
I put my nose to every surface, to the rugs, leather, dash... can't find the source. I took out the cabin air filter in hopes of finding the source, but the filter was very clean and i didn't see any debris in there. I tried to stick my nose in, but i couldn't smell anything.
I "think" it's coming from the A/C/Heater vents, as when running if i put my nose up to the vent, i can really smell it.
I really need to find the source of this smell... Are there any schematics for the duct-work for the A/C inlet? Maybe there's something trapped.
I've always run it on "recirculate" mode, preferring to cycle inside air rather than take in outside air. So my "thinking" as that if there was a dead animal in the duct-work for the outside air, i wouldn't be smelling it, no?
What all I need to remove to get to the rear of the lower running lights (about 2" tall by 5" wide). Almost looks like the whole wheel well would need taken off?

It is getting more noticeable (especially on broken pavement/rough roads) It's annoying and the only issue I have with the car.

View 2 Replies I've been driving Lexus since 1995. My new GS is a 2008 model (with a President pack according to local French definition). I use windows phones (Lumia series) and I can easily connect these phones for conversations while driving over BT. But when I try to transfer my contact data to the car, the BT connection fails and when I stop this transfer, the BT connection comes alive again.
I only have/use windows phone (windows 10 and windows 8.1). any hint where I could look to to solve this problem ?
another question related to this : can I stream audio from my phone to the Mark Levinson system via BT ? apparently it does not work with my windows phones .
Have the EML on on my GS450h, read the fault codes and I have 2 fault codes that are identical (P0430). I cleared the fault codes and it stays off for a day, then as soon as I go above 60mph the next day, it comes back on again, the faults are stored and not current codes. I've not noticed any MPG loss or loss of power whatsoever! So am I safe to assume its not the catalysts? Only other thing I could think of is an o2 sensor gone bad perhaps? I don't want to spend money really as I'm about to sell the car for a more economical one for my 150miles per day commute to work! Just had all 4 wheels refurbished too which set me back a fair amount, now this!
View 2 RepliesTransmission won't go into drive until I give it gas and then hard shift between 1&2 then a little slipping when I get on it in higher speeds , fluid and filter brand new, threw a speed sensor so code I replaced with new but no change, don't know what to do and can't find out why speed sensor code went off changed but didn't fix? Can't drive truck!!!

View 3 RepliesOn my 06 GS300 135k my driver and passenger side blows different even though the temp setting is same. I have replaced Driver side Servo motor but no change. When heater setting is at 75, passenger side blows toasty, but driver side is cold. What else do I need to look at possibilities?
View 3 RepliesI've been waiting for to trade in my 04 Acura TL and move up drastically to either a 2010 GS450H or 2010 LS460 Sport. Both are driving me crazy because I absolutely love the look of both cars and the more I keep looking at the wheel photos makes it even harder.
I have 3 kids but 2 of which are older so size doesn't matter. I do prefer the GS due to the super sleek looking and 20" are a win BUT the LS on 22" with the air ride and data controller is a super win!!! not to mention the 19 speakers are better then the 14.
I know that I have to drive each car and I have not yet. Also pricing is pretty close for each car and it looks like the gas mileage is also pretty darn close so I don't believe that is an issue either way unless I'm wrong??
I've had every lexus model (besides the LFA) and I just purchased another GS 350. Now I know I know....dealership can set the settings for my unlock button to automatically set my windows down and sunroof back. But as we all know going to the dealership for anything is so annoying. That being said.... How to set/program it?
View 6 Replies2008 Hyunda Accent, 5 speed, with high mileage. She claims it slips out of 5th gear when she's driving. They're on vacation, the car is in the shop, the shop is saying that it can't find the problem...
Apparently it slips out under load (in constant motion).
It seems that it only occurs when the transmission is hot, meaning the oil has less viscosity. The dealership apparently is saying they can't find anything wrong and she isn't making it up since she said she drove from Michigan last week with her hand on the shifter the entire time to keep it in gear. Dealer is saying they aren't going to just drive it around and around until it happens.
How modern cars are built these days. I know older cars had some synchro things that would wear and allow the shifter to pop out of gear, but I read that some Hyundais have cable driven shifters....at a loss.
It happens in 4th sometimes, too, and will also pop out even when leaning on the shifter.

I have a 2008 Accent (base model for the most part, no C/C), and my transmission seems to be slipping a bit. The symptoms are: slow acceleration, a delay in gear shifting, and after the 30MPH mark, it takes forever to get up to anything near 60. I just wanted to know if it's a simple solution such as topping off the transmission fluid, or if it's a bigger issue.
View 5 RepliesI have a 2008 RX350 AWD with only 500 miles on it so far and I am starting to get concerned about what seems to be excessive slipping or a delay in response in the trans. Under normal forward driving the trans seems to shift very smooth. The problem occurs under situations where I am coming to a near stop, basically coasting, and then have to accelerate again to continue forward. This could be in a slow moving traffic type situation or when maneuvering through a parking lot. When I try to execute a small increase in speed the engine revs but the trans doesn't respond.
It's as though it's in neutral and unable to decide which gear it should be in. After a 2 to as long as a 5 second delay it finally engages and moves forward. The condition is even worse if I am heading into a slight incline. Once it is engaged everything is fine and the subsequent shifts are very smooth. When starting from a complete stop it works perfectly. I've never had a transmission slip this much in any vehicle. There was one situation where I was almost broadsided because the RX delayed in moving forward.
I realize this is a subjective call but I am trying to determine what level of slipping in the trans is considered normal under the conditions I've described. I have searched and read past threads about issues with the earlier model years but I thought they were resolved by now. I haven't taken the RX in for service yet but I fear I will get the standard - everything is working as designed - answer from my dealership.
Have a 2015 GS450H the display shows the park assist picking up objects but there is no sound. Is there a way to turn on the audio for this option.
View 1 RepliesMy car is 2008 Sonata GLS 2.4L. Recently the ESC off light turns on always when I drive a while after started the car. It still drives fine. But I have concerns of safety issues.
I heard it's a common issue for Sonata even 2011 model. I also heard Hyundai recalls for a system upgrade because of ESC off light problem. If it's true, will the dealership do it for my 2008 pre-owned Sonata for free?
It drives fine, but anyway it could be an potential safety issue. So should I drive the car to the dealership to have it fixed? I heard may owners spent a lot of time and money but never have it fixed.
I have a 2006 F150 4x4 5.4L 43000mi. My four wheel drive is not working. I have the dash mounted switch to switch it into 4x4 Hi 4x4 Low. When I put the switch into 4x4 Hi nothing happens. 4x4 does not engage, and the 4x4 Hi light on the dash does not illuminate. I get the same symptom when the switch is placed into 4x4 Low. I have checked all of the 4x4 fuses and they are ok. I checked all of the vacuum lines to the hubs and they appear to be intact. What I should check next? What would cause this?

I drive further to work, anyhow the past week she told me that the clutches feel like they are slipping and when she puts it into drive sometimes it wont engage... or when she puts it in p it says in d...... anyhow off to the dealer it goes for who knows what and how long... and the car is stock....
