I detailed the 350 today and noticed on the plate that has the "LEXUS" name on it, on the driver's threshold, that there are rust spots forming. The plate looks to be either brushed chrome or stainless steel. I'm thinking it's chrome and thus the rust. Or, could be a defective piece of stainless steel. I intend to take it in to the dealer for repair or replacement.
View 11 RepliesI bought a new 2014 RX450H in late December of 2013. The car has 5000 mikes on it now and today when cleaning the car, I noticed (hard to believe but true) 3 separate rust spots coming through the finish on the back hatch panel. I know I need to contact the dealer, but should I be screaming for a new body panel or just accept the fact the my new car has to be repainted? This is the 4th RX I have had. Never ever had a problem before.

If the rear inside panel where jack is located is removed, it is from the rear inside corner behind the jack.
Is there any way to repair rust spots so the rust will not return aside from putting new metal on it? I've used Bondo before but it rusts again after a while.
View 3 RepliesI own a 2011 lariat with 500 miles. We have had several days of rain and I am getting alot of rust spots on my driveway always below and inside the right front tire. None in the rear or left front. Dealer said not to worry about it after they looke at the area. They said it is the new metal forming surface rust. There is a skid plate which seems to cover wherever the rust is starting. Should I demand that area be undercoated.
View 3 RepliesI just noticed 2 rust spots on the back quarter panel in front of the wheel well on my Corolla. Then I looked on the other side, and found rust in the exact same spot. It looks like the rust is near some bolts that are holding on (what looks like) a small plastic mud flap (I'm not really sure if that is the correct technical name). Anyway, is that normal to have rust in the same spot on both sides, or is it defective? This is the only car I've ever purchased new so I was planning on keeping it, like, FOREVER. I think I've taken pretty good care of it so I plan to have it fixed. Just wondering if I should bring it to Toyota.
View 15 RepliesHave a 2013 Passat Tdi. It seems that sometimes when i accelerate the car doesn't move it has a flat spot as if the transmission is trying to catch a gear. I know this might sound minor to some folks. However on several occasions I've pulled out into oncoming traffic not expecting it to have a flat spot in the car not moving at all. What's up with this?
On the highway no problem and normal acceleration no problem but if you're going from a stop or pulling away from a intersection seems that happen more so than I would like.
Have been to dealer multiple times with concerns about speaker vibration from rear passenger door and rattle when going over rough spots from same general area. They end up saying they have not heard anything and I end up feeling like I am losing my mind. Does seem to be worse some times than others. Last weekend I opened the door and tapped the area around the base speaker. Lo and behold, sounds like there is something loose in there. Seems like it is moving around freely at times and may be caught somewhere and thus quiet at other times. What might be in there? Any easy way of getting at it on my own?

what could it be? The car performs fine, no MPG decrease, no performance impact..
Have the EML on on my GS450h, read the fault codes and I have 2 fault codes that are identical (P0430). I cleared the fault codes and it stays off for a day, then as soon as I go above 60mph the next day, it comes back on again, the faults are stored and not current codes. I've not noticed any MPG loss or loss of power whatsoever! So am I safe to assume its not the catalysts? Only other thing I could think of is an o2 sensor gone bad perhaps? I don't want to spend money really as I'm about to sell the car for a more economical one for my 150miles per day commute to work! Just had all 4 wheels refurbished too which set me back a fair amount, now this!
View 2 RepliesI noticed the A/C was not blowing cold air. I also noticed oil spots on the driveway. I jacked up the car and there is oil coming from Evap drain line. I bought a can of refrigerent with a gauge. The A/C was low. The car took the whole 18 oz and was still low. But blows cold air now. My guess is that the evaporator is leaking.
2010 ES 350 96000 miles
The strangest thing has happened to my 450h tailgate, there are two patches of yellow that are popping up. These were not there when I bought it back in June (it is not under warranty/purchased from a small local dealer). Last week I started to notice a faint yellow tint in those spots, but it's like it's getting worse over time.
View 3 RepliesSo I was heading to the airport and needed gas and was in a bit of a hurry to get my flight. I pressed on the gas door as usual expecting it to pop open a bit it didn't! It only pressed in more but did not pop out. I started to panic as I was low on gas and did not have a lot of time to get my flight. I looked in the trunk for some type of emergency release but did not see anything.
I locked and unlocked my door a few times in the hopes it would release somehow but it did not change and I did not notice the usual click from the gas door area. Finally I was able to force the door open with my fingers and get gas. Now when closing the door again it does not sit flush but is sitting in a slightly open position. I'm scared to mess with it more in case it locks shut again and I can't get gas.
I'm shocked this part would stop working the car is only two years old, 2013 with luxury package.
I removed the driver-side door sill protector today, and discover some rust around the rectangular holes where the tabs of the protector get inserted. There are also small rust bubbles in the paint. (Small as in 1/16" in diam.)

How to remove the door speaker grills on a 3rd Gen IS or a 4th Gen GS350 (without removing the door panels)? They appear to have the same 7" black plastic grill between IS and GS model.
I tried to pop them off with my fingers but it wouldn't budge...my finger nails bent halfway back though.
I have had a rattle in my driver's side door since I picked up my car that was driving me crazy so when I took my ES300h into local Lexus dealer (Cool Springs in Franklin, TN) for my 1000 mile checkup, I asked them to fix it. As has happened to numerous others on the forum, they couldn't hear the rattle and did nothing.
When I got the car home, my wife and I went for a ride with her sitting behind me. We figured out it was the window rattling. When we moved the window down just slightly, so it's still sealed, the rattle went away.
When I turned off the car a light came on for open window but it still locked.
I think the door when closed leaves too much space for dirt and mud to accumulate. Especially combined with the fact that the car has no mud guards. Usually wont complain about something like this but this happens just a day or 2 after detailing the car.

Everything is off, why it does this. I asked the dealer a while back but they gave me the "No problem found".
Again nothing is left on and it doesn't matter whether the automatic headlights are on of off.
