I've been enjoying my new 2013 ES300h for the last 3 months and recently noticed that the auto temp settings go from 18 C to 32 C. I find this very odd as in the summer I would very much like it to be cooler than 18C and in the winter it would be extremely uncomfortable to keep the thermostat past 28C (once the car has warmed up).
View 3 RepliesAt a certain temperature range (just below freezing, -10C to 0C) I was getting a rattle that sounded like I had a cup of dice on the top of my dash. Any slight movement would cause the dice to jostle about, in other words the rattle was constant, the slightest bump or ripple in the road, slight speed up/slow down, even relatively flat roads would cause noise. It would come and go as the temperature changed but this last week the outside temperature has been consistently in that range, so therefore while driving anywhere I had to first head towards a place called "nuts". I'm not due for any service for a while, but it was getting to the point where I was prepared to make the long drive to the dealer. First though, I tried to hunt it down myself.
Spent last night with my head under the dash looking for anything that could be that loose to make noise so easily. I noticed the TPMS reset button unit sat kind of loosely in the lower dash panel, I could make a noise shifting it about, but it was just too light and too low down to make the noise I was hearing. I did the usual reaching around applying pressure to various parts of the dash while driving. Trying to listen carefully, I decided the sound was coming from the windshield (or deflecting off of it from the dash). I tried applying pressure to it, I even put a pair of socks on the end of a yard stick to I could put some pressure at various points along the windshield / dash area. No difference.
Finally, got a bit of a hint. On the highway, passing 60mph the rattle started to abate, getting close to 75 mph the rattle almost completely disappeared. Wind pressure? On inspecting the lower part of the windshield, wipers, etc. I notice that by shifting the plastic underneath the wiper arms it would make a noise. It doesn't feel very loose, it took some effort to slightly shift it, but it did make a noise. I took my "test socks" and jammed them under the hood directly in front of the wiper, creating some downward pressure on the plastic. Silence! Golden Silence!!
The temperature control doesn't change the air temperature on my 94 SL2. If I slide the control all the way to the red, the air blowing out doesn't get any hotter. If I slide it all the way to the blue with the AC button and the recirculating air buttons depressed, it doesn't get any cooler. The blower fan works fine, the AC is charged with refrigerant, the compressor looks like it is working, and all the related relays and fuses seem to be okay. I've taken the radio out and loosened the heat/air control. The cables for the vents and the temperature are both attached. Maybe the temp control cable is broken down the line somewhere.
View 4 RepliesMy 2005 Honda Civic has just started doling out heat when it feels like it regardless of where I set the dial. It seem that when I am accelerating or applying gas, heat is available but when I am stopped at a light or coasting downhill, cold air is all that is available. Is this a thermostat issue or something more dire?
View 1 RepliesOn my 99 accord (v4, lx) i am unable to change temperature i.e no matter whether the knob is turned to cold or hot, it stays hot. AC doesn't work. fan still works.defrost front/rear is not working.. Its like the heating/ac controls are not working.

1. Can you adjust the cabin temperature by saying "driver temperature 67" ...
2. Can you adjust the radio by saying "XM Watercolors" ...
My 2013 ES 350 has stains and pitting on the temperature display and the dash surrounding it. I clean my car myself and use standard cleaning products, so I'm baffled as to what caused this. It could be ArmorAll, air-freshener, leather/vinyl cleaner, or any number of products I've used to clean my car. I took it to the dealer and they declined, noting that that other customers have not reported the same problem. The clincher is that they want $1900 just for the part. Apparently you can't just replace the plastic display cover, but it's part of a larger piece of the dash that has to all be replaced.
View 8 RepliesMy AC started blowing cool air last summer.My wife who drives it daily noticed that it wasn't as cold as when we first got it.I was making an appointment to take it in when the clock spring broke and we got all sorts of lights on the dashboard.It was still under warranty when I took it in and they gave us a loaner car.They told us that they changed the compressor,clock spring(which he said was a common thing to go on cars) there was also a trouble code on the turbo. That took them the longest to fix
.They ended up replacing a sensor and then found out it was bad wiring. Fast forward almost a year later and the weather is starting to get warm again here in NYC. I tested the AC and it is blowing cool air again. This time I put a thermometer in the center vent and it is blowing about 54.8 F after 5 minutes. The outside temp was 66.F. I called the dealer and took it in after work today and the service adviser said that 54.8 F was within range.I insisted that they keep it over night and have a tech check it and also do an oil change in the morning since it has 30K miles on it.I was time for one again. My question is... what the temperature range is for the AC in my Tiguan?
I made him give my wife another loaner (2016 Jetta) and when she got home I put the same thermometer in the center vent and it was blowing 40.2 F after 5 minutes.Much colder than my Tiguan. I want to make sure that they don't recharge the AC and we make it through the summer and we will be back to the dealer next year.This time the warranty will have expired.I don't have an extended warranty.I just got a bad vibe from this guy at the dealer.

P0A37 - Generator temperature sensor circuit range/performance
P0A2B - Drive motor "A" temperature sensor circuit range/performance
My check engine light popped on for me a couple days ago. P2043-reductant temperature sensor range/performance. Truck still runs like a raped ape, no change in driveability. Just over 21k miles. No "speed limited to 55" messages or anything else. Basically no change in the truck other than the light.
View 12 RepliesMy Tiguan is 2013 with 3k miles on it. There is a rattling sort of noise in the 2-3k RPM range which I think is turbo related. It is much louder when cold and quieter when warmed up. Is that normal turbo noise in the Tiguan? If so, why does it minimize when warm? And why does it not continue above 3k RPM? My Audi A4 with similar 2.0 Turbo does not make this noise.
View 9 RepliesJust traded in a 2012 Nissan Sentra SR on a 2013 Hyundai Santa Fe Sport and have a question about the gas mileage.
My Sentra always read 28+ MPG, but it was a known issue that the reading was almost exactly 3 MPG off; thus, I was hitting about 25 MPG most of the time. I could typically get by for a week and a half, sometimes two on a single tank (which was about 11 gallons).
I took the Santa Fe home on Thursday night, filled up from the dealer and reading a range of 384 MTE. As of tonight (Saturday), my fuel meter is reading two notches over the halfway mark and the range has dropped to 232 MTE. I haven't driven anywhere near 150 miles since Thursday, FYI.
The MPG on the Santa Fe started t a measly 12 MPG when I left the lot, most likely due to sitting and idling and lots of stop-and-go driving on test drives. I've since managed to get it up to 22.2 MPG (and feel confident it should eventually read about 25 MPG, about the same as my Sentra). Even though the MPG reading is going up, I feel like I'm going to be filling up the tank again without hitting a full week of driving (and this is a bigger tank than the Sentra). I'm not getting the difference. Is there an issue that I'm missing here? After checking in with the dealer that the previous owners used for service to ensure there were no red flags, they did tell me that it had an active bulletin for a software update. I've read in other places here that this update can have some effect on the MPG. Any thought on if these things are connected?
The driver and passenger hip bolster (side facing the door) had a fold under the leather... When I took it in for warranty they said the heating element in the seats came loose. It's probably from getting in and out of the car, and they replaced the entire element, but the GX only had about 12k miles and is 2 years old.

View 9 RepliesMy 2008 ES350 started shaking and the front driver's side tire and rim started heating up. Turns out there is a hanging caliper, which needs to be replaced. That's the cause of the friction and heat on the rotor. I should replace both front calipers, pads and rotors, then bleed the brakes.
Mileage is about 90k.
Rear heating system in my Lexus GX470 only blows cold air, what could be the problem. Front heater works fine.
View 4 RepliesMy 2013 is always off by a few degrees (too warm) on the outside temperature display. This is not the sun or other outside influence. I wouldn't mind if it was just a couple degrees but it is always 5-10 degrees off. Can this be adjusted?
View 12 RepliesI have a 2013 Passat SEL Premium TDI with the Climatronic system. I have noticed that the AC light never turns on unless I press the AC button...then it stays on regardless of the temperature until I turn it off. Is this normal operation for the Climatronic? When I think of "set it and forget it," I think of the AC turning on and off automatically depending on the temperature. I drive too much to have the AC on all the time (about 600 miles per week).
View 7 RepliesI just got it and the gauge is showing a little hot. I took it in they found nothing. The fans runs almost all of the time. It even started running when I was sitting in my driveway with it in park (it was about 55 degrees outside at the time). I also hear some grumbling noise in the dash on the drivers side. It sounds like something is trying to work (the radio is off and it still makes this sound).
View 5 RepliesI just bought a 2006 Lexus GS300 AWD. Bought it with 99k from a older gentleman who seemed like he took really care of the car. Gave me all type of Lexus dealership service receipts. I recently noticed that the driver side seat heating and cooling doesn't work right, passenger seat works fine. I haven't checked the fuses yet just wanted to get some opinions before getting into it.
