I have a 2014 ES300H that I just purchased. After driving around for a while I parked it in the garage. After it had been sitting in the garage for around 6 hours, I hear a motor or fan type noise coming from the trunk area. It lasted for several minutes and then stopped. Is that normal and what the noise might be.

When I turn the key on it stops I made a video but you cant hear it to good I will post video later. What that can be ????
View 9 RepliesRC 350 parked in garage, 40 deg, F, for 4 hours. Happened to walk by and heard noise. Sounded like a quiet, harsh electrical hum are air escaping. Not positive but it seemed like the source was at the rear of the car and not the garage door. Noise stopped before I could trace it further. This was a second occurrence. So far no dead battery or flat tires!
View 3 RepliesWhen my Prius C is in the garage for awhile and then I open the driver door to get in the car there is always the sound of a running motor - "rrrrrrrrr" coming from the engine compartment. The sound is of a motor running. The sound always lasts the same lenght of time - about 9 seconds. Then the sound stops. Since it happens all the time, I think it is part of the Prius C computer start-up software program. What is the source of this running motor. Is it the power steering motor or a fuel, oil or cooling pump?
View 10 RepliesExperienced a rattle coming from the console area... a week or two ago I was driving home from work and I heard a "slight" rattle noise.. it sounded as if it was coming from the dash area... This concerned me because when I first bought my car about 18 months or so ago, there was a very annoying squeak in the dash when the temp dropped below 50 degrees... I took it back to the dealer several times for that squeak, and finally a young tech there figured out the problem and fixed it.. still quiet to this day... so anyway I'm hearing this very faint rattle sound ( on a scale of 1 to 10 with 10 being the loudest, this would be a 2 or a 3 ) and it appears to be from the dash area...
I keep feeling around and putting pressure on different parts of the dash with no luck... then quite by accident I laid my hand across the counsel and as soon as my fingers pressed up against the round that selects eco / normal / or sport, the rattle stopped... removed my hand, rattle started again, just put one finger on the round and the rattle stopped...
So I had the car into the dealership for oil and filter change saturday and I saw that same tech that fixed my squeak last year... told him about the issue and while the car was in the shop he pulled the console.. said he couldn't find anything really wrong except that some of the clips were not lined up.. he didn't know if it would work but he said he insulated all the clips and a few other areas inside the console with some thick felt... charged me nothing... zero.... Don't know if the problem is permanently fixed, but I have not heard it in the two days since...
The last couple of days I've noticed a metal clinking noise coming from the right front wheel area when I go over bumps. The best way I can describe it is what it sounds like when there's a loose washer and nut on a bolt. A metal on metal sort of thing. Tonight I was able to replicate the sound I heard by pounding on the tire and got it on video and posted it below. Watch in HD to hear the sound I'm referencing clearly.

I have an appointment with Lexus tomorrow morning to have the brake clicking fixed under the TSB and several other issues addressed. Mostly rattles...
I have a 2013 ES 350. Last night about 5 hours after the engine had been turned off, we noticed a strange noise coming from under the rear of the car? It sounded like a small electric motor was running. I started the car and turned it off. The noise had quit. This is actually the second time this happened.
I got under the car to try and determine the exact location of the noise, It sounded to be coming from the gas tank area. Could it be a fuel pump kicking on?
I think that one of them is coming from the passenger door. It is more of a clicking sound kind of, than a rattle. Maybe as if the door panel isn't tightly attached so it moves back and forth a little and clicks.
The other rattle is from the cupholder area.
I took this car to my dealer and they fixed another rattle from the passenger door (claimed it was a screw in the speaker that had fallen out?), but it was replaced by this new clicking rattle. They also claimed they did something to the cupholder to fix it, but it didn't work.
My question is, how the door panels are attached to the car? I was thinking that if it is attached by a few screws I will try tightening those up myself before I go back to the dealer. It would be great if it was just attached too loosely and I could fix it myself.
Started getting a noise a few minutes after startup. I can hear it click on and then it sounds like a loud electric motor/pump/fan type noise. Starts pretty loud, then gets quieter (but not gone) after 30 secs. If I turn off the engine, it stops and if I immediately restart, it's gone for a couple minutes.
View 5 RepliesWe have a 2013 Prius v two that is 5 months old. It has NO alarm system. This morning while sitting in our garage the car sounded as if a car alarm went off. The lights started flashing and the horn went off and on for 10 seconds or so. This happened three times over a period of 2 hours. There is no car alarm in this car.
I turned on the car to see if there were any error messages. We are coming up on the 5000 mile maintenance and the indicator for that was on. There were no error messages.
Several months ago one of my 20" toyo tires was flat when I came out of work. Being a high school teacher, I thought that perhaps it was a students involved situation. That came as a surprise in that as a teacher of over 37 years, nothing has ever happened to any of my vehicles, while parked at school. Also I found it strange that they would let air out and put the chrome valve cap back on. Well, over the weekend, the same thing happened, with the car parked in my garage. So in both instances the tires went flat, I filled them back up and they held air. This happened months apart.
View 6 RepliesWe parked the V in the garage at 5 pm, and at 11pm went out into the garage for something, and heard a buzzing, but had a hard time trying to locate the noise. it seemed to be coming from the V. so i opened the drivers door , and after a couple seconds it stopped. then i closed the door and it started again. i opened it a second time it stopped again, after i closed it, it didn't start buzzing again ??? does this happen to other peoples prius's
View 6 RepliesI just bought a used hyundai santa fe sport 2.0t. i noticed it is fairly loud inside compared to my 2011 sonata. I don't know if im hearing tire noise or maybe a wheel bearing type noise. It's coming from the rear and gets louder as I go faster. I'll admit O am paranoid and probably making this sound worse than it is.

No GPS, no HDD audio and no voice command? It work again this morning after it sat in the garage overnight. I think this happened before last year also. Can I get the dealer to replace the HDD with my platinum extended warranty?

A couple of hours later went into the garage to drop a trash bag and heard a humming/whirling sound from the garage. Walked around the Prius and isolated it coming from the bottom rear of the car. Went and got key, turned the car on, then off again and the noise ceased. What that was? Fuel pump maybe? And why did this occur?
View 2 RepliesThe trunk of my 2013 Elantra GLS pops open randomly when the car is parked, unoccupied, and I am well away from it. This happens about once every week or ten days. Last night it popped open during a heavy rain and the trunk was soaked. I can not trust the trunk as a safe place for anything of value. I suspected at first that the remote was doing this by somehow getting squeezed in my pants pocket, but I can not cause it to replicate this by pressing on the pants pocket or squeezing the remote against the key or a pocket comb or such. I have considered abandoning the remote but with no trunk key that is very inconvenient.
View 95 RepliesI have a 97 250 LD 5.4 that suddenly has a grinding noise coming from the area where the transmission and motor meet. I took the inspection plate off the transmission and can look up inside there and see everything moving. I use a screw driver and if I flex the plate that mounts between the transmission and the motor I am able to get the noise to quiet down until I release the screwdriver and then the plate flexes back and scrapes making the noise again.
I can not see where the plate is grinding when I look up inside there. I can't figure out how to fix this.... Why it would just start doing this on its own as none of the bolts on the housing have been removed except for the two bolts that hold the starter on. (Changed it a couple of weeks ago). Thought about loosening the bolts on the tranny housing but I'm afraid that it would open me up to further problems???
I have a grinding type noise coming from underneath. Not there all the time..heard it last night while driving home....pulled over and waited for a while looked underneath could not see anything. Started off again heard it momentarily then it stopped....but I am thinking that this could be axle/wheel related/ball joint? No engine issue coming from the chassis underneath, possible bearing?
I have a 2003 Gx with 245K on it....but overall runs great!
