TPMs warning light on. I was wondering is the reason the TPMs warning light is on because I don't currently have a spare tire in the trunk i have the tire i mean but no wheel. and the sensor is just sitting in my glove box until the new wheel comes in.
View 4 RepliesSo I was running stock Lexus 17' rims on my 2008 c350 RWD. The time came to replace the tires and I thought- instead of shelling out hundreds of dollars, why not use my brother's set for free (his stock 17' rims from his 2006 GS300 RWD were just lying in the garage taking up space). They were also 17's. So, I swapped all 4 out, stock rims included. Drove around for a bit and noticed the TPMS warning light came on.
Not the low pressure light, but the actual warning light. This happens every day. The car is fine driving the first 15-20 miles but after that, the light always eventually goes on..then it's magically reset when I start the car the next day.
Thursday driving home from work, the thing started dinging and all sorts of lights started flashing at me. I looked in the manual and (finally) found that it is the TPMS. The orange light on the left side blinks for 1 minute and then stays on steady. I also see "Check System" in the display under the speedometer and there is a red light with an explanation point (!) on the right side. Checked all tire pressure. All were at 30 PSI. Checked spare, it was good. Manual says if it blinks and stays steady, contact your dealer. Called...they can't look at it until Feb. 12. I drive 40 miles a day on average. Not a lot, but by 2/12 that is several hundred miles. what could be wrong and if i should still be driving this car?
View 14 RepliesAbout four days ago my TPMS warning light started blinking. Same tires and sensors have been on there for quite some time. The service book says to take it to the dealer, but I instead stopped by Discount Tire (where I purchased the tires) to see if they could look and figure out which sensor was acting up.
When he ran his sensor, none of my four sensors showed up as broadcasting at all! Now I know that all four of my sensors did not just randomly go out at the same time.
With the temps at a all time low in the U.S. this week, my TPMS warning light has come on in my 2012 RX350. It will stay very cold for most of the week, so is it ok to drive with my warning light on.
I don't want to check my psi in the tires with a tire gauge because I was told a valve stem can freeze open in extreme cold letting the tire to go completely flat.
Just a little PSA, if your TPMS light shows up, and all the tires (including the spare) are at the proper psi, check the button below the glove box. As long as the warning light is solid, its likely someone pushed the button. I almost paid $120 in diagnostic fee and $150 for a new sensor at the dealer because for some reason, no one knew about this button, or didn't want to tell me.
View 5 RepliesMy 2004 RX330 which has gone many years without a problem suddenly has instrument panel gremlins.
I started the car a couple of days ago (it had rained during the day), and the airbag light did not turn off. Then the TPMS warning light came on, the water temperature gauge dropped to zero. The AC controls stopped responding. Since I needed to get home, and the car seemed otherwise fine, I drove home, after a few minutes the transmission "D" drive light went blank and the instrument back-light went to full brightness.
A few minutes later, all the warning lights went off and the back-light went back to normal. The AC controls still seemed to be off. A few minutes later the airbag warning light came back on, followed by the TPMS light and the back-light went to full brightness again. This cycle kept happening all the way home.
The next morning, hoping the problem had been some errant water getting into something, I started the car, opened the driver's door to get something and got back into the car, closing the door. The light showing the door was open stayed on. I put the car into reverse, the doors did not automatically lock as they usually do. I turned off the engine and restarted it, most of the other lights were off, the doors would lock; airbag & TPMS light came back on.
It has stayed that way, except I also get the A/T temperature warning light coming on periodically, and after some cycle it goes off.
I borrowed a car code reader, it does not seem to show any error codes. In reading some other postings it has been suggested that the Brake light switch is the cause, but the brake lights come on/off without any problem.
2009 Lexus ES ... Just put my summer tires/wheels back on and how do I make the low tire pressure light to go off? These wheels have sensors that were registered at the dealer when purchased ... Do I have reset the system by deflating to the trigger point or should the computer remember the data from last fall when I took them off?
View 16 RepliesI have an 09 ES 350 that I decided to put some very nice subwoofers and amp in. When I found out that I needed more power, I took out my spare tire and mounted a second battery in where the tire is supposed to go.
We'll sure enough when I drove the car later the TPMS light came on and started flashing. The system has to be able to read all 5 TPMS sensors. 4 tires and the spare. So when I took the spare tire out, the system thought there was something wrong with that sensor and turned the light on.
So what I did was I took a piece of PVC pipe and 2 PVC caps, drilled a hole in one of the caps, inserted a new TPMS sensor into the cap, then glued everything together.
After it dried I pressurized it to 35 psi, mounted it in my trunk next to the jack, and reset the TPMS system so the light would go off. Now the TPMS system thinks the spare tire is back and there are no more problems.
The other night I was driving home and my tps light came on, Wasn't sure if it fluctuated because of the weather. So I waited until the morning, checked the light and it was still on. I checked the pressure of the tires (stock) and they were all around 36, I checked the door panel and it said they should be 41. I filled them up to 41, however the light did not go off. I held the reset button and it went off and hasn't come on. It didn't blink when it came on. It popped on and was solid.
View 5 RepliesThe manual doesn't have much in regards to the TPMS in our cars. I'm wondering what happens when the warning light goes on, meaning let's say I just need to add some air to a tire. Do I just add more air, and the warning light goes away? I'm coming from a Bimmer where I had to reset the warning and re calibrate the tires after filling it with adequate air. The way the manual make it sound, I have to go to the dealer? Is this right? Also, I'm looking at some aftermarket wheels that I know are compatible with out tpms sensors. Once the new wheels and tires are mounted with the OEM sensors, do I need to reset anything on the TPMS in the car?

Recently I encounter some trouble on tire pressure and TPMS triggered. I was told to reset it by myself. Unfortunately, mine is basic S model and there is no MFD or reset button in glove box. Manual said using MFD. Any way to reset without going to dealership on Tiguan S model?
View 4 RepliesSwitched my wheels at Discount Tires/America's Tires and for some reason my TPMS warning light won't go away. It's been more than 24hrs and I've driven over 100 miles, even put the tires to 42psi but still the warning light won't go away. The shop did rebuilt the TPMS due to the wheel change but it's nothing out of the ordinary so I am not sure what's going on here.

Is there anyway to disable this warning? Alternatively how costly is it to get a new TPMS sensor?
Ever since I bought my 04 V8, the TPMS warning light has been on due to dead sensors and a disconnected controller (G model controller), and I had just learned to live with the alert and the icon on the display for the time being. Last weekend I installed a 6 button cruise control switch and recoded per Michael's instructions. The switch works fine and everything was good. After a couple of drives with the new switch I noticed that the TPMS was not giving me the usual failure message or the fault icon anymore. If I hit the Vehicle button I still get the same fault message in the J523 screen but no warning in the cluster, and no warning upon startup. Ran a VCDS scan and the errors for the TPMS module not being there are still present as they always were.
View 4 RepliesSo tonight I'm driving on I-80 and all of a sudden I hear a thud, the TPMS light comes on and a warning of low tire pressure. I get out to take a lot and the rear left tire is practically flat. Changing the tire was pretty easy once I figured out where everything was in the tray.
So now I'm in the market for a replacement tire as there was a huge hole in tread. I have a about 3000 miles on the car. Would you get a replacement tire that is the same make/model as the rest of the tires, or would you simply get a cheaper replacement? Once I am ready to replace the rest of the tires, I'm not sure if I would replace them with the OEM make/model anyway. At the same time I'm not sure how long the OEM's will last.
"AFS off" warning light was suddenly on on my 2010 E350, checked all the the lights, front and rear are ok. Why this warning light is on, and what should I do to make it go away?
View 5 RepliesI have a bad sensor in a tire that just had a flat. I have ordered the sensor for the wheel and I am wondering after I install the sensor in the tire will the 'reader' pick it up and reset itself or do I need to go through the programming of the new sensor? At this time the TPMS warning light comes on and flashes for a minute or so before staying on constantly. This tells me it's trying to read the tire sensors but there is a fault, which is the tire sensor where I just had the flat. Costco tells me that sensor reads 78psi, which is incorrect. The fact that the reader is trying to read all the sensors and getting an error makes me think that it might reset itself when the new sensor transmitter is put in the tire? Any chance of this resetting itself or will I need to reprogram the receiver unit?
View 12 RepliesI recently had new tires installed on my 2008 Prius and after the tires were installed she drove better than ever and I drove about 150 miles across Florida with no issues what so ever. But when I went for a drive this evening, after about 30 minutes of driving my TPMS light blinked for about a minute then stayed solid for about 3 minutes but then went out. When I got out of the car all the tires looked okay, I didn't have a gauge on me and I will check the pressures tomorrow.
View 5 RepliesTPMS warning light is sometimes on, sometimes flashes, sometimes off. Only 2800 miles. Checked your pressures @ 38 psi. Have had no tire issues, nails. Etc. Took to dealer today. Service advisor said too much air in tires. Lowered to 35 psi. I have doubts about their"fix". Time will tell.
View 17 RepliesA few weeks ago, the TPMS light (and the start-up warning) came on. I checked all the tire pressures and they were fine. I checked the spare tire, and sure enough, it was low and I fixed it. However, the TPMS warning still comes on every time I start the truck. It's not the flashing icon that indicates a problem with the system, it's just the steady "low tire" yellow light.
Not only is it annoying, but it won't indicate if there really is a low tire.
I know the old TPMS sensors only worked when the tire was rolling. If the modern sensors work that way, could it be the spare tire monitor? Is there anyway to know which sensor is sending the warning? I know the dealer is going to charge me an arm and a leg to look at this, so I'd like to know what's going on before I take it in.
