Secondly, I changed the oil in my car (ES350) and noticed the shocks had gone out in the hood. Darn thing just wouldn't stay up. Went to Lexus and it will be replaced. So I am trying to purchase the hood shocks at Sewellparts.com to change the bad hood shocks. I read somewhere on the web that if I register I could use a code or something to get a discount. I have registered but still don't have a discount code.

View 2 RepliesMy 07 460 is now on its 3rd set of front shocks ( air suspension) . I drive always in comfort mode and they get very rattly and make chattering noises as soon as they get to 10k mark ... The dealer keeps replacing them as it's still in warranty but it seems crazy ... Does this still happen with the 2013 onwards upgrade model too ??

View 1 RepliesI used to have a GS300 and just recently traded in for an 07 CPO LS460 SWB, Mercury Metallic with light gray interior. Love the car, big difference in quality of material and build. Anyways, I noticed that the hood and front fenders get really hot to touch after driving. It seems to be hotter than all my other cars. The coolant gauge in the instrument panel stays in the middle and does not show over heating. The hood stays hot and takes quite a while to cool to ambient temperature. Is it attributed to the engine compartment covered both top and bottom (for aerodynamic reason), which may delay air flow and cooling?
Recently Car and Driver had an article regarding brake overheating in Nissan 370Z Nismo, under harsh repeated braking. The brake fluid would boil and loose vacuum. After analysis, the suspicion was that in the zeal to improve aerodynamics, the engineers did not design adequate brake cooling. I'm wondering if Lexus engineers, in pursuit of aerodynamics, may have compromised the cooling and airflow through the engine bay. Like I said, there are no indications of the engine overheating, just the hood getting pretty hot after even a short drive. Most likely, I'm just paranoid and my OCD is kicking in.
I am having problems starting my car. It takes 5 or 6 tries . It will not turn over it will just click under the hood. I scanned the code and it showed the crankshaft sensor code. Would this be correct or could it be the starter or starter components. It is a 2008 LS 460

This is nothing major, I just don't want to hear this noise on a half million dollar car.
yesterday I heard a faint rattle coming from under the hood while the a/c was on, when I had my son turn it off, it went away. Right now it's barely noticeable, but I don't want it to turn into something major. I own a '08 ES with 88,000 miles and all my service is done at the dealership.
View 1 RepliesI parked my car last night in front of the house at 11:30pm last night. The car has not been driven since. At around 1pm the next day my car alarm went off and I went to shut it off and noticed very minor misty smoke coming out of the hood by the windshield. I opened the hood and could smell electrical smoke. I could not find any noticeable damage. Checked fuses and relays. Does not seem to be a problem. However when I get close to the fuse and relay panel under the hood I could hear a clicking and very distant occasional hiss sound. I tried to start the car and everything seem to work but when I push the start button nothing. At this point I disconnected the battery. I called lexus and the rep said he had seen this before and indicated that it is probably a ground or something that corroded and shorted out.

I have a 07 gs350. My car wouldn't start this morning let alone turn on. I heard this constant beeping noise coming from the hood and it was the battery. I unplugged the battery and the noise stopped. But once I plugged it back in the noise came back. I was in a rush to get to work this morning so I just unplugged it and let it sit for a few minutes before plugging it back in to see if it work.. it did not. This battery is only about 1 year old too.

View 6 RepliesI have an 07 Passat 2.0T with 48,000+ on it. I tend to overthink any little sound my car makes that doesn't seem normal and this one has me perplexed. When I am driving at low speeds, windows down, I hear what amounts to a "psst" sound come from my front shocks only. I understand I have gas shocks on the front but it doesn't seem like any other car makes this sound.
The ride is comfortable and the sound does not seem to affect the suspension feel. Is this a normal sound? Do you think there is an issue with the shocks? I have been searching high and low for someone with a passat that has written about this sound from the shocks.
Just picked up a Ctek 3300 battery charger for my 2008 LS460L since we only drive it a few days a week. Is it safe to connect directly to the battery under the hood?
Where is the ideal spot to jump start on an LS? Reason I ask is that my BMW 6series have the battery at the back trunk but for any charging or jump starts it must be done under the hood where there is a terminal that goes to the battery.
My 2006 GX470 just has 82,000 miles on it, and the rear shocks are already out. This vehicle only drives normal roads, nothing rough. It is ten years old, and sits outside. Still, I don't get it.
View 9 RepliesSince recently buying my 2008 GX470 with 100K miles I have been trying to find what is making a low rumble sound when moving. I have checked everything underneath, tightening up a few things etc. to no avail. However recent experimenting with the shock settings from comfort to sport. It seems that the rumble is less when it is on comfort. So I am thinking the shocks themselves are making some noise.

Problem is when I picked it up this morning, the VCS, ABS, traction lights were all on. Checked the gas cap, but that's okay (actually had the cap replaced recently due to a bad cap causing the same problem).
What would cause the lights to go on after replacing the front shocks? Is it merely a coincidence I wonder or did the tech perhaps forget to connect something?
