I have a 2012 ES 350 and I have paired my Samsung s4 smartphone to it. I hear phone calls through the car speakers but Any way to hear the voice that navigates you with Google maps through the car speakers as well. The car's own navigation is so poor I don't even use it.
View 6 RepliesI have a 2012 Camry LE and I always use bluetooth connectivity between my iPhone 6S and the car. I use an online radio app called "Tambura" (similar to pandora but something which caters to Indian Hindi songs). Now I also use my phone as a GPS navigation device on need basis. The problem I am facing is that, whenever I am listening to music using the radio app in my camry's speakers with volume on around 15-20, whenever the Google maps voice says something like "take next exit" or whatever, it is almost inaudible. I expect the sound to be on same level as my music but that does not happen.

When the map was on the screen, I went down a new section of interstate where the GPS was telling me I was going over grass or turn here from the grass to a city road. How do you update the map or should I continue to use Google maps on my cell phone?

I am enjoying my new (pre-owned) 2010 Gen III prius and it has been a pleasure so far. My only whine is that the navigation map mode is always in 'North up'' and 2D mode.
In this day and age of the GPS/MAPS world I suppose it wouldnt be too much to ask for a 3D view of the map and default 'driving direction up' mode? Also can the daylight mode be selected even at night or when the headlights are turned ON?

View 14 RepliesSo I was driving to work this morning listening to XM...then all of a sudden all the audio went off and the speakers sound like they are chirping. I shut the audio system off and back on that didnt fix it. Then I pulled over and shut the entire car off and restarted same thing.
I need to have the TSIB for the front seat done and my dash is rattling so might as well get it all checked and fixed before my warranty expires in another 13K miles. The chirping sound is irritating though...
I have recently returned to the Lexus family after being away for a couple of years, can't say my time with BMW was enjoyable. I have a 2010 LS 460 and would like to know if it is possible to have a split screen with Navigation and Audio? My Navigation screen appears to be the default, after 30 seconds the audio screen returns to the map.
View 2 RepliesEverytime, I get into my V I play my various podcast (via iPhone). However, its takes about a minute (as compared to my wife's RX which connects instantaneously). Why it takes such a long time? Bluetooth is always on and its be "paired".
Also, when I turn off audio, the screen simply shows blue screen with "audio off". Is there a way that I can always default to the map screen instead of going to apps --> maps --> show map? Not a biggie, but a nice to have for me.
My navigation door will not open, and when I turn the radio on, it looks like it is playing - but no sound comes from speakers.
From digging around here, it looks like this could be a fuse problem - but both of these at the same time? Are they the same fuse? Are the fuses I would need to replace in the passenger side or under the hood?
BTW... it was pretty comical getting to the fuse thing in the passenger foot well - I am just over 5 feet tall, so it was easier to do it head down, feet near the headrest of the seat!
I just bought the new pre-owned 2007 SC430. Very happy about the car performance but very frustrated in trying to set up my Samsung Note 2 with the Lexus Blue Tooth. I checked the Lexus website and found out they are not tested for compatibility. Besides, the voice commands did not work very well.

I've read that some people are replacing their door speakers like I want to do and reporting much better sound. My question is now that I realize I have the audiophile system, it is still worth swapping these speakers and will it be better sound? I bought 2 pairs of Pioneer TS-A6886R 6x8's.
I had a 98 Lexus GS 400 and I upgraded the stereo with an head unit, amp and all the door speakers and disconnected the subwoofer and actually liked how it sounded. I guess the upgraded speakers were so much better that the subwoofer wasn't needed.
So Should I try to bypass the factory tweeters and subwoofer and run everything into these newer supposedly better 4 way speakers in the door? Or just plug in the new speakers and let tem act as mid ranges?
BTW Do I need to remove entire door panel or just grills? It seems pretty straight forward for wiring. Anything I should know?
2004 GX 470 Mark Levinson with Nav.
Wife said she heard a 'pop' on the way home from work last night and thought she blew a tire or ran over something. Nothing in the road and tires fine so she continues home. Temperatures were near zero last night.
Upon start up today, the speakers were at full volume roar with the audio off.
Turning the audio on, only changed the pitch, not the level.
I tried cycle the audio on / off but no change. Restarted car, same thing.
Let the car sit a while and restarted it to check the system codes. Same noise for a few seconds, then a sort of 'pop' and the noise stops. Radio/ CD work fine now.
I checked the system and all shows OK. It is not drivable with the roar (if it comes back).
Need to get a Samsung Galaxy Light to sync? I've got the Display Audio with Entune (3.1). Android version is 4.2.2. Just got the phone and synced it to Bluetooth. All the music and Pandora seems to basically work, and I can make phone calls... but the phone book doesn't sync. Except for, strangely, one contact. I've tried "refresh phone book" a few times - it shows success, but then there's just that one contact (always the same one.) Can't spot any reason that contact would be different than others.
I've found a few threads about the S4 and S3 and phonebook trouble... seemed to suggest some people have problems and some don't, but couldn't spot a solution. Never had a Samsung before so not sure if there's any significant differences in the phonebook setup between the Light and other recent Galaxies. My HTC Sensation did OK with syncing the phonebook (though the BT on that one kept freezing when using Pandora.)
I have a 2011 Prius 3 w/NAV...my last two phones (HTC Sensation/HTC One S) have been able to stream music via Bluetooth, though the HTC One S (ICS) seemed to have some connection issues (it would drop if I got a call sometimes, occasionally it wouldn't recognize music and I'd have to reboot phone etc...).. I now have a Samsung Galaxy Note 2 (tmobile)...I was able to hook up the phone portion, but no audio...it is the "JellyBean" os.
View 9 RepliesI recently posted that I was purchasing a low mileage 2007 Gen2 and had been told it was a base model. Actually, the seller was clueless about the options and had only had it for 3 years. Didn't know what a "Package/Type" was.
Before I got out of the driveway I discovered it did have the backup camera. However, as I began reading through the owners manual (my first operational Gen2, with a manual) and programming the radio and a few other features, I discovered that this was a Type 1 with backup camera. But soon discovered from the display and steering wheel that it lacked the Blue Tooth and Hands-Free ability. Something I have been wanting. I could live without the Nav System since I have a good system on my tablet that I take with me from vehicle to vehicle. Not sure how good the Gen2 Nav System is but have used it on my sons 2010 Gen3. Seemed ok but I'm hearing that you have to subscribe to the Nav software or is that just for updates?? Or is it just a couple CDs that I need to find??
Now that I have learned a little more about these systems, I looked at the two other Project Gen2s that I have and discover that a 2007 tired old (300k+ miles) Yellow Cab has both Nav and Bluetooth.
So, the obvious question is, are these Gen2s all prewired for the Nav System and Bluetooth and aside from the transfer of the Nav ECU from one vehicle to the other.
I have a 2005 Prius and need a new navigation unit and I found a place I can order online, however I did something not so bright I ordered for a 2007 Prius. I need to know if a 2007 navigation unit will work in a 2005?

View 1 RepliesMy audio volume does not decrease when the navigation talks. Rather, I have to keep the navigation voice level high and it simply talks over the music/audio. Is this supposed to happen or do I have something set wrong? I can't believe the audio doesn't lower automatically the same way it does for a phone call.

View 8 RepliesI have a 2013 RX350 AWD, purchased new about 8 months old. Today for the first time, the navigation/audio system joy stick stopped working while I was driving. The display froze and then had just lines of pixels and very small font. Moving the joy stick had no effect. There was also no map displayed. The display was basically "messed up".
Once I got home, I turned of the car and then restarted. The display and joy stick was fine. I never saw this in all 8 months I've had the car. I am just about to schedule my 10,000 service.
Big navigation screen it totally blank. Not able to turn on radio. When you start the car you see Lexus logo, then you get warning text after this text its completely black. Backups camera is working and small screen is working. I looked at Navigation fuse, TV fuse they all look good.
