My preowned ES came with a remote starter. It works great, however when the vehicle is started using the he remote, as soon as I open the door, the car turns off and I need to restart it. The model I have is Viper 5901. In the manual it says that if I use the Viper remote to unlock the doors, it should not turn the engine off.
View 3 RepliesI was told that with remote start I would be able to start the car but when I open the door it would shut off and then it would push start. I have a 2011 ES 350. My ls gmc yukon and has no problem but it doesn't have this push button. I want to have a remote installed in my wifes car didn't think it was going to be a problem.
View 14 RepliesI recently had a remote starter (AutoMate) installed in my 2008 LS460. The remote starter works great but when I open the car door the engine shuts off. I then need to restart by pressing the START button on the dashboard. Is this a safety issue or is this something that can be avoided?
View 8 RepliesThe SKS on my 2010 Prius V used to open all doors when I grabbed the door handle but now it only opens the driver's door. I remember seeing somewhere in this forum that this is one of the few driver customizable options (unless it is for Gen II only) and I should be able to make the change on my own.
View 3 RepliesMy 08 Tahoe will 'die' at odd times. Sometimes I open the door and there is no charge from the battery. This can happen between opening the door with the remote and trying to start the car. It can happen between putting the car in park and cutting it off. I have come home, dut the car off and been unable to open the doors until I remember how to do it manually. a jump will always restore the car - for a while. If I leave it alone for an hour or so,it usually will start but the clock and climate control have reset. Most recently, the alarm went off, I turned it off using my remote. I found later that the car had 'died' momentarily. I have had the car checked and rechecked. Everything seems to check out each time - battery, alternator, whatever. This stated a 18 months ago when my battery died and I got a new one. Most recently, my mechanic has changed the make of the battery and checked every connection and every component. I am now waiting to see if this happens again. Usually, it happens every 4 months +-. I am at my wits end. I do not know what to do, My mechanic does not know. He has even tried to update the computers n the car.
View 6 RepliesHere is what is happening, if I press the unlock and lock button on remote or from any switch in the car , the front passenger door will not unlock! all of the doors will lock and unlock, except the front passenger dorr will not unlock only, it does lock,just not unlock, i think it may be a bad motor or actuator, I am sure it will be covered under the CPO warranty, especially since its only been less than 1 week since i had it.

I was told that I would need to get a valet key made in order to do this and I would also lose that valet key. Is this true? Why do I need a valet key made and why will I lose that key? Can the remote starter not be installed without using a key?
View 1 RepliesI had a remote start installed on my santa fe and initially it worked great. Recently it stopped working correctly. The car still starts but my heat/defrost will no longer turn on. I have tried every combination possible but when I get in the car the heat is turned completely off and will only turn on when I put the key in the ignition and manually start the car.

View 3 Replies2007 Ford F150, Remote starter no longer works. after pressing remote (4) times. 3 with horn blast , it is to start. the lights flash, interior dash lights go on as if trying to start. It does this every 10 seconds or so till I hit brake. If I use the remote with the key inserted it starts right up. I had just replaced the battery previously.
View 3 RepliesThe map lights in my 2011 Santa Fe GLS are supposed to come on whenever the door is opened or unlocked, and up until recently they did just that. But now they don't.
There is a button next to one of the map lights labeled "door" that controls this function, but I've pushed that on and off to no avail.
I can turn the map lights on manually, so the bulbs are fine. And the dome light (further back in the car) still does come on when the door is opened or unlocked. Just not the map lights.
My interior lights work only when I switch them on but not when the door is opened. Is the switch up near the map light easy to service? Any tricks or shortcuts?
View 3 RepliesIm currently installing a remote starter on my 07 camry and it wants me to tie into the "parking light" fuse or wire. It is a Bulldog system, on the website it describes it as "Black (-) wire" located at "BodyECU in vehicle fuse box 26 pin plug pin 23" The fuse box cover does not identify fuses by number and i do not see anything that looks to be parking light related.

View 7 RepliesI have a 2012 Santa Fe and the front map light fixture was where my issue started. I believe from what I read that the diode had gone bad because the map lights would work if the light button was pressed, but not if the door button was pressed. At that point, the only issue I had was the light now working when the door opened. So, I ordered a replacement part and tried to install it today. It was harder to get the old one out than last time, but it came out no worse for wear and I unplugged the old map light fixture. I plugged in the new one and it did not work at all. I checked the wire and it looked fine, the prongs and they were fine and tried it again... nothing.
Now, the back seat dome light and trunk dome light don't work either. (with the new map light plugged in or not) Old one back in and still nothing. Checked the manual for the fuse that is supposed to control those lights and it is fine. I got frustrated because it made no sense and gave up for the night. (no light is even plugged in where the map light goes for now) I come in the house and now every hour or two (when I lock the car) the alarm sounds for no reason. The alarm button won't shut it off either, I have to hit unlock and it stops. (3 times in the last 5 hours now) So, I have decided to leave it unlocked for now. So far, so good. BUT, I need to lock my car when I am out without the alarm sounding and I need my dome lights working. Everything else with / in the car seems to be normal.
First problem is, for the first 6 months or so I had my 08 460, the headlights would automatically turn off when I opened the door, now it doesn't. I have to manually click back the light switch inside. It's more annoying because I'm used to just leaving the car and they turn off when opening the door so I didn't notice they were on when I left the car during the day only to come back hours later to a dead car. Needed a jump. Not sure if there a way to change the settings for this that I might have changed?
Second issue is ever since I got my car every single time I start my car my mirrors are in a different position, they're almost always way too high so I can't see cars in the lanes and end up readjusting them while I'm driving which becomes annoying when you have to do that every day, I've set the mirror settings on my memory for all 3 settings, and if I hit memory before driving they'll go to that, so I don't know why they change. The mirrors function properly with the controls so they're not broken.
why does it shut off radio before you open door? Can this be programmed so that when u turn engine off, radio stays on till driver door is opened? My wives Audi does this and is great for waiting at bank drive-up, or picking up someone.

Noise usually happened when car cooled down. I brought this issue to dealer they response its normal in hybrid car. I really doubt explanation.
I'm a new owner of a Santa Fe 07. My car will not completely lock with the remote. I have to remember to manually check it if the alarm doesn't beep. All the other doors will lock except this one door behind the driver. My model is AWD, it the 7 passenger one . It's not the base model. I didn't have the hard copy of the manual but I have a digital copy. We just got this on 4/24/15. It has 90 warranty but don't think they will fix this issue that I thought was only the childproof lock mechanism somehow or was not a big deal but now I'm not so sure.
View 9 RepliesMy father recently purchased a 2012 Prius 3. To reduce his insurance premiums, he purchased an alarm system, which the dealer installed for him a few days after he first took the car off the lot. Now, when unlocking or locking the car from the driver's door handle sensor or via the remote, it both chirps (not the horn) and briefly sounds the horn twice or once, depending on whether you are unlocking or locking.
The problem is that when the car is unlocked from the trunk or the passenger door (using the door handle sensor with the key in pocket), this does not disarm the alarm, and the alarm will sound when the door is opened. The alarm is only disarmed when using the remote's unlock button or using the Smart Key sensor at the driver's door. One of the major differences between the 3 and 2 trims is that the 3 has Smart Key capability on the front doors and the trunk, rather than just the driver's door but the alarm has negated this benefit, as opening the trunk or passenger door without first unlocking from the driver's door or remote causes the alarm to sound.
Is this normal for a Toyota-installed alarm?
I have a 2011 Hyundai Santa Fe, mileage is under 50000.
The remote Door lock, does not lock or unlock drivers door. But locks/unlocks all the other door.
