I was told yesterday the rattling sound coming from the engine maybe my a/c compressor maybe going out, it's late April in Texas and this is the worst possible time. I have 89000 miles on my 08 ES 350.
View 4 RepliesI have an intermittent sound coming from my engine. It shows up out of nowhere and could last 20 seconds to 2 minutes. Because it's intermittent, I can't seem to pinpoint where it's coming from. Sound file is attached.
It's a 2008 with 79K miles.
(2008 ES 350) I hear this squealing noise under the hood, I had the AC compressor rebuilt because I was told that was the cause, low and behold it's not, I only hear the noise when the car is in gear, but I don't hear it when in park or when I drive, but it's loud in drive and reverse. The water pump has been replaced too. Where is this coming from?

View 1 RepliesI started hearing a small rattling sound coming at low speeds while driving. It's a tic tic rattle which almost sounds like a cat, but it only does it while driving and not all the times. I had a smiling noise once on one of my cars and it was a torque converter. It's not the brakes, as applying brakes doesn't work. Also the whole front end is brand new. It motor related. Can a heat shield for a cat come loose?
I'm also dealing with a wind noise coming from a driver side window. My car has the updated thicker windows. The noise goes away if I lower the driver side window just a fraction. So having it closed all the way creates more noise. Other than that wind noise is at a minimum.
I have a 1996 Honda accord ex with the vtech and 176000 miles. The problem Is everytime nomatter if the engine is how of cold there is a noise coming from under the hood that sounds like a compressor and when this happen and I try to step on the brakes, it'll work but it would vibrate. When I opened up the hood It sounded like it was coming from the right side of the engine (where all the belts are) what might this be?
View 2 RepliesExperienced a noise that is evident when the side window is down which seems to coming from underneath the car. It is difficult to describe but it is a ticking / light metallic sound. Possibly coming from the exhaust system area. It is particularly annoying at a drive through window where the sound reflects off the building.
View 7 RepliesWhy my suspension is so loud and clunky are doing a swaybar link and upper control arm replacement? I did remove the air suspension unit in order to access and remove the bolts that hold the upper control arm bracket mount onto the frame.
I did not think that would do any harm. Now my suspension is way louder than it ever was to begin with.. I just did a visual inspection and saw that my original parts were cracked and worn in the bushings and links. So I did a swap.

Well I have been hearing a rattling sound coming from my engine when I accelerate around 55-70 for a second and then coast. Once I start coasting I hear some type of rattle noise coming from the engine. I just got back from the dealer and was told that the mid-section to my exhaust was bad and it needs to be replaced. The part # is 28600-4z300. I looked it up and it costs $1400 now, but it is on sale for $1000. I am hoping that this will fix the issue I am running into right now.
This problem adds to the list of crap I have been through with this car starting at 4000 miles. First a blown timing chain blows my engine, then my car goes into the shop 4 different times over a month and a half for a overheating/coolant issue. Had to get the engine replaced because apparently my "NEW" re-manufactured engine was leaking coolant into my engine. Now only 2 months since that has been put in I need a new exhaust..
I have a 2011 RX350 and recently noticed rattling sound coming from inside the glove compartment.
I think it comes from the plastic cover of the aircon filter at the back of the glove compartment. This cover seems bit loose even when installed back properly and the vibration (especially when driving over uneven roads) is causing the rattling sound.
I know it's a minor problem but the rattling sound can get irritating at times. My temporary fix is to push back the heavy owner's manual on that cover to prevent vibration.
Upon starting, my 2002 (160,000) has a rattling sound coming from the passenger-engine side. I just started noticing it and it seems to happen in the morning on its first start up. It doesn't seem to be effecting driving, but not sure if it was something to be concerned about.
View 2 RepliesWent to dealer today for rattling noise which appeared to be coming from bottom of engine on passenger side. Dealer diagnosed bad a/c compressor and had to order. This noise has been going on for past week and noise appeared with and without a/c on and always at "idle" speed. Noise would go from barely audible to very noisy and loudest with a/c on. If I turned a/c off, noise would diminish immediately; however, still audible with a/c on. Car only has 2,950 miles and a/c works fine, other than the rattling noise at times.
View 2 RepliesMy 337 didn't pass inspection (control arms, inner tie rod, no cat because the guy I bought it from sucked etc) but it sat for probably 3 weeks and I just sold my other car (I was planning on using that $2000 to get the 337 to pass inspection) but I just drove the VW down the street for the first time and it's making some scary sounds.
Basically when I give it throttle there's a high pitched whirring sound and something keeps rattling that sounds like its coming from the engine bay. I'm really freaked out, I'm leaving in two months because I'm transferring to a new college and I need this thing to run perfectly.
It's also shifting a little strangely and if you don't shift absolutely perfectly then it starts to rattle (not like you're about to stall but something completely different) I can't take it to a VW dealer or anything because I'm way over the 15 days past a failed inspection and I can't afford a tow.
So, I have heard a little bit about the oil pump bolt issue. However, I am still confused. Was this issue fixed for the 2008 model and what are the symptoms? I changed out my valve cover last night due to a PCV valve failure. The car is running great except there is a slight rattling sound coming from the drivers side of the engine at idle. I know I left nothing around the car that could have gotten in the motor when the valve cover was off. This issue was not happening before changing the valve cover. What could be causing this noise, or is it typical for this motor?
View 3 RepliesI have a 2015 IS350 F-Sport. While accelerating, the engine sounds fine, but it sounds aweful when idling. Don't know how else to describe it other than like a rattling sound...it's just not smooth. Is this "normal" or should i schedule a service appt for my car?

View 1 RepliesI have a 2010 LS 460 Sport and recently noticed that there is a faint water sound coming from behind the glove box every time I accelerate from standstill and sometimes when the car is idle and the A/C is on. My initial thinking was that it is some sort of a clog in the A/C drain, and that's what I told my service supervisor at the most recent service at a Lexus dealership. They said that they could not find anything except for a bit of debris in the A/C drain, which they blew out, however the noise is still there. The best way that I can describe the noise is that it's similar to a noise that a rainstick makes.

Right now it's barely noticeable, but I don't want it to turn into something major. I own a '08 ES with 88,000 miles and all my service is done at the dealership.
