Bought this 2010 ES 350 before last winter, never use the air-con until last week. After the air-con was turned off, here comes the odor! The fumes were so bad that I had to open up all the windows. Did take out the air filter to clearn, but odor still come back after air-con was turned off.
View 7 RepliesI have a rernote starter installed on my '07 SF 3.3. It will leave the engine running for 18 minutes before shutting off. If I get into the vehicle after it has been running for over 10 minutes or so, there is a strong odor of gas inside.
Where I might look for where it is coming from? If I remember to leave the vehicle in "recirculate" mode the night before, the odor is less, but my wife and I drive it equally so often the recirlcualte button will not be pressed.
Not sure if there is a leak somewhere (no other signs of a leak or gas odor while driving), or if this is "normal"...
I have a 2007 Santa Fe GLS with about 68k. Starter her up this am and smelled a very strong odor of gasoline in the cabin. I check my garage floor and didn't see any leaks. Drove it for a few minutes and the smell went away. What might be causing this?
View 1 RepliesI have a 2007 Sante Fe. When I fill the tank (not even totally full) the car will have a fuel smell. The odd thing is that is comes more from the front part of the cabin, and only happens after filling up.
I have been very careful to make sure it is not about stepping in gasoline then getting in the car. It has been to the dealer twice for close to 3 weeks total. They smell it but cannot figure it out.
For the past month or so, I've noticed a rather unpleasant odor in the cabin of my '11 GS450h, which was brand new in April (it was a demo vehicle, never sold or titled). I've never had food in it, never spilled anything, and prior to a month ago, it still had the new car smell.
I can't tell where it's coming from. It isn't a moldy smell at all, but rather something like a dead mouse. Simply put, it smells like hot garbage that's been sitting in the garage for a few weeks.
I put my nose to every surface, to the rugs, leather, dash... can't find the source. I took out the cabin air filter in hopes of finding the source, but the filter was very clean and i didn't see any debris in there. I tried to stick my nose in, but i couldn't smell anything.
I "think" it's coming from the A/C/Heater vents, as when running if i put my nose up to the vent, i can really smell it.
I really need to find the source of this smell... Are there any schematics for the duct-work for the A/C inlet? Maybe there's something trapped.
I've always run it on "recirculate" mode, preferring to cycle inside air rather than take in outside air. So my "thinking" as that if there was a dead animal in the duct-work for the outside air, i wouldn't be smelling it, no?
I am having this serious issue with my 2007 gs350 awd, whenever I'm on the highway or any were, the air is contaminated with any odor for example (skunk, garbage, smoke from old car) the smell comes in through the vents, I've changed the cabin air filter and still same problem, how to get it resolved?
View 4 RepliesParked on a slight decline in my driveway and after I moved the car, a 2007 Ford Edge SEL AWD, there was a spot caused by condensation dripping from the AC, but in the middle was a thick very black oil spot about 1 inch in diameter, checked other areas where the car was parked and no spots or very small drip spots the same dark color, also there is an "oily odor" in the cabin that is intermittent when running the AC.

New battery a month ago, connections are clean and tight
Replaced ignition switch 2 yrs ago.
Starter was taken off car and engages when directly hooked to a battery (month ago)
3rd time with this issue where the car won't start. Starter won't engage when key is in crankin start position. A month ago when the battery was replaced and starter was removed and 'tested' I had 12v to the purple wire on the starter - which should prove ignition switch is still good. All lights and power inside cabin is good. When key is turned to the crankin' position all power dies inside the cabin and nothing at the starter.
I first thought it was a weak battery connection. The second time this issue happened, I tightened the positive battery post and the car started. Today - no such luck. Both posts are tight.
Again the ignition switch was replaced a two years ago, however, I do experience issues with the key position and the climate control (a/c) from turning on. After the car starts, I slightly turn the key back and the climate control will turn on. I still don't believe the issue resides within the switch. Perhaps I'm wrong?
Is there anything between the ignition switch and solenoid on the starter? 2000 Regal LSE
I have an '05 Lexus SC430 with 53,000 miles on it. For the past couple of years, I have noticed an intermittent antifreeze smell (sweet odor) when driving. It never lasts for long and is apparently coming out of the vents. I can not figure out any common denominator to cause this, other than the radiator was replaced in Nov. 2014. My long-time mechanic has ridden with me a few times and I am unable to recreate for him to diagnose.
View 9 RepliesI have a 2014 IS350 AWD F-sport and I recently just noticed a weird sound coming from the right side of the car. I can only hear it from inside the cabin, when windows are opened it can't be heard. It sounds like something is lose or rattling, but only happens around 3k+ rpm. Speed does not matter, I've tried revving very slowly in park all the way up to 4k rpm and it can be heard.
View 4 RepliesI have 06 gs300 AWD and recently it started to make that noise. At first I thought my shock/struts went bad and i had it inspect and they are good, ball joint and control arms also good. However, I do not know if strut mount is bad or not. When I go over small cracks i can hear rattles inside but when i let my windows down I hear less. I do not know if the window or door has to do something with it. It seems like coming from passenger side. Btw sometimes i do feel even dashboard rattles a bit.
View 10 RepliesWe own a 2013 RX 350, purchased less than a year ago. We are experiencing this rattling noise coming from inside the side panels, its frequency changes depending on road and weather conditions like if road is rough or if its windy. We have taken the vehicle to Lexus Service three times so far for the same issue, they have acknowledged the issue. Last service took almost a month but still no remedy.
As of last service, Lexus took the entire roof liner down to fix the issue but it came back after one day post service.
Noise is extremely irritating because it occurs next to driver's left ear and is annoying as anything can be. Same goes for right ear for the front passenger.
We have owned Nissan Maxima, BMW and Lexus before and none of the vehicles had this issue.
When I start the car, there is a very strong smell of gas in the cabin. What is causing it? Is it expensive to fix?
View 1 RepliesMy wife has a 2015 Tiguan, 4 months old, and unfortunately a few early gremlins. The battery died after about a month - it was defective and we replaced it with an aftermarket to save a trip to the dealer (I know how to measure and detect electrical issues).
The Tiguan has also had intermittent gas odors in the cabin. Happens after it is started and is fairly strong but last for about a minute. Unfortunately it does not always happen and my wife has not detected a pattern such as cold starts, cold weather, full tank of gas, etc.
My wife is sensitive to the odor and I'm concerned about a potential gas leak (albeit a small one).
1. Can I change the angle of the backup camera?
2. Can I turn on the backup camera from inside the car (without putting it in reverse)?
When I pull the GS into the garage, I would use these features to ensure I leave room so the garage door doesn't scratch my bumper.
The dealer has tested every system for leaks and can't find any. They have changed the filters. They have contacted Nissan to see if there were other complaints of this nature and there weren't. They did a smoke test to detect any leaks that weren't visible to the naked eye and found nothing. This problem has not occurred at the dealership only when I'm driving but my husband, daughter, son-in-law and car pool buddy have all been in the car when the smell was evident. It's very strong and smells like you're in a gas station with the windows open.

My question is that I have an 09 which is still under warranty, is replacing the cabin filter/charcoal filter due to bacterial odor covered under my bumper to bumper warranty? I found some posts where people said it was but I want to double check before i waste time that I don't have with the dealer since I've been really busy with school.

I was driving to work this morning through a snow storm and needed to use my washer fluid for the first time. As soon as I turned it on the entire cabin was filled with that smell. Could this be a leak?I thought it was all confined within the engine compartment so not sure why I smell it immediately upon using.
View 14 RepliesMY 2002 Passat 4motion is experiencing a strong gas odor, noticeable both inside the cabin and outside of the vehicle. Odor is noticeably stronger with a tank that has just been filled to full. I see that VW had a recall for 4motion Passats manufactured between 4/1997 and 8/2002. Recall notes, a fuel tank ventilation valve (4motion only) that can leak due to fracture.
I was in for the heat shield repair about 8 months ago which is covered under the same recall (campaign number 08V156000 - VWOA recall R5, but don't know if the VW tech did anything to check on the fuel ventilation valve.
I have a 2009 4cyl GLS with a manual trans (about 18K miles). For the past few months, I have been noticing a faint gasoline odor both in my car and around my car after it has been running for awhile. And yes I have checked and it is not on my shoes or floor mats. The car does not smell until I get off the interstate etc... At first I thought it was another car around me that is giving off the odor but after many trips without cars near me, I can smell it and my passengers notice it too. It does not seem to happen when it is full, usually only around a half tank or less. I checked all around and under the car for any signs of leaks and found none, just wafts of gasoline odor. My MPGs is not off so I must not be leaking too much but the odor is getting worse.

This one started with stronger smell on passenger side but is now strong hot antifreeze smell when you open either front door. Not a drop on floor, no gauge movement from normal on hot 2-3hr trips - Only had one service six months ago at dealer just because it was to sit all year. I pulled all top engine covers off to inspect and found not one thing wet or suspect.
Ready to put on rack to look underneath (below firewall I suppose) just not sure at what, heater core connections? But a head gasket would be 1st guess? What could this be?
SAME as previous post (but no ID) from a 2008L owner: "I only have about 3,500 miles on my car, every now and then I get a faint smell of possibly antifreeze when I open either of the front doors after a good drive. It's very strange because if I try to locate the source, the smell goes away. Once I exit the car and sniff around, there is no smell in the wheel wells, in the front grill, or under the hood. I then try to sniff under the car just under the front doors, and there is no smell!"
