2007 ES350. Recently, I noticed when I turn on my engine in the mornings it makes a whistle/squeak-like noise. It the sound continues and eventually fades away as I drive after a mile or two.
View 6 RepliesMy '07 2.0T 6MT has started making a clicking / ticking noise when it is first started in the morning. The car is garaged, so it doesn't get all that cold. The noise seems to be coming from behind the center dash, in the area behind the climate control and radio panels. It doesn't last particularly long (maybe 3 seconds, clicking perhaps 3 times per second or so). It happens whether the radio is on or not, so it's not the CD changer shuffling discs or anything like that. I suspect it has something to do with the Climatronic system's ducting.
I had a Saab that made a noise similar to this, and they had to disassemble the entire dash before they found that the drum that directs air to the various vents was sticking. It ended up costing $1500 in labor to do the job. So I'm looking for a sanity check before I send my dealer on a long, expensive hunt that will likely result in a "no fault found" or "could not duplicate".
When i turn my car in the morning it whistles very loudly then after it warms up for about a min or so the noise goes away..
View 5 RepliesMy 2005 Prius shakes and makes a weird noise when I go to start it up in the morning. This usually only occurs from cold start in the mornings. Once I warm it up for ~2-3 mins all seems to be well. No CEL or anything of that nature. Trying to troubleshoot what the problem is with these cold startups. (76K)
View 19 RepliesI bought a new corolla 2009, automatic transmission (Not Robotic!) From the first day, when shifting from first to second gear the car makes an unnatural noise, like a whistle or a whine. (during shifting and sometimes a little bit before).
It only happens in the transition from first to second. It does not depend on the RPM at the moment. When the engine is cold, in the morning, the sound is still there, but weaker, when the engine warms up, the sound keeps appearing for the rest of the day. (I live in a country with a hot climate)
I have been told, 2009 model has the same transmission just as previous models, is it true? or there have been some changes in it?
My dashboard makes a vibration noise sometimes when going over bumps at low speeds in my 2013 LS f sport.
View 6 RepliesEvery morning when I start my LX570 it starts with the idle higher that normal and then after 1 or two minutes is settles.
Along with the higher idle there is a little extra noise from the engine, after 2 minutes the noise goes away and all normal.
Is this the way they start in the morning?
What is this metal on metal noise...you hear it the best around the 7-12 second mark...it is especially loud on cold start in the morning when you put the car in "drive" but don't move the car forward. It also is prevalent on hot days when you park the car outside and just start the car. The sound gets louder when you turn on the a/c during the hot day.

My gli makes a weird noise when I start it after its hasn't been started in awhile like in the mornings. It's like a deeper noise but I goes away after its been running for a minute. Why it would do this?

View 10 RepliesEarlier today on a easy drive (not pushing it) I noticed a slight "whistle-sound" that I haven't noticed before. About then it became VERY sluggish and the Engine Management Light started to flash.
As soon as I could I pulled over and connected my AL619 and it says "to low turbo/supercharger flow".
I didn't notice any smoke or smell, just a serious lack of power (i was doing 30km/h at the top of the hill).
Just tried to locate the leak, but I cant feel it or see it. I guess one would need one of those "smoke generators" to see where the pressure goes out.
So, do I have a broken turbo, or just a blown turbo pipe/tube?
My 2007 LS 460 has begun not starting the A/C when the engine is started. Most times it will work by repeatedly pressing the Auto button and pressing the recycle button-but not always. After the engine is turned off I can hear what sound like a servo motor trying to close a door.

I just noticed that when moving slowly (with and without accelerating) I can hear a slight whistle sound that resembles a bird chirp coming from what I think is a wheel.
My dad can't hear the sound (I'm thinking the frequency is too high for his ears) but it is definitely there and I can hear it clearly.
The sound comes and goes but something is not right. Wonder what it is?
I got a 2007 Camry 2.4 l4 engine under the hood and its didn't start this until we had a garage change the oil never did this when toyota changed it. Mostly when the engine is cold started there is a little bit of a rattling noise it will make until engine is warmed up and once its warmed up at times it will still sound kinda bad when it runs at normal engine temperature but this mostly occurs on cold starts and didn't start doing it until a regular garage changed the oil this never occurred when toyota dealership changed it
I don't know what kind of oil that was used in it last at that oil change but it started that about a week or so after that. Car currently has about 133,000 something miles on it ... Its not that loud of a noise but its noticeable when all doors are closed.
The other night I was going up the mountain and while going it started making a clicking noise..probably from no oil..We had been told from the dealership there was a small leak but nothing to worry about at the moment.We tested it and it wasn't leaking visibly but I guess with it getting cold out the hole got bigger and we didn't notice so all the oil leaked out as we were powering the lil car through the mountains..Needless to say on the cruise down it started shaking i saw some sparks and I think the rod went through my engine block and we broke down. It's completely dead. The car has right around 200,000 miles on it and has always been very well taken care of.I just traded my dad the car about 7 months ago for my 4-runner cause of gas prices..I moved across the country and of course have had NOTHING BUT PROBLEMS since day one.

Every time I accelerate I hear and annoying whine, whistle noise, as soon as I get my foot off the gas it goes away.

I have a 2005 Lexus is 200, but I'm not sure if the model even matters for my question.
Anyway, I'm hearing a strange whistle from the front right wheel, and I'm sure the sound comes from it. I made a youtube video so you can get the idea.
The sound starts at around 50km/h speed and it does not change after that, meaning that it doesn't become harder if I speed up and if I slow down to 40 or 20 it does not go away. But if the car is cold, it does not start until I reach 50-60km/h speed.
Also, I tried turning the engine off on neutral while driving and it did not influence the noise in anyway. So its not related to motor.
In the video it starts from 11s and you can hear it clearly starting at 57s when I speed up. Because of other sounds you probably can not hear it as clear as I can, but just listen to the whole video and I think you will get a clear idea.

The thing is, I went to a decent repair garage and they could not say what it is. So assume that basic things like breaks or the like were checked by mechanics.
I want to add that there probably was a hard hit to the right wheel recently while driving in reverse, I say "probably" because the person did it does not want to admit it and I can only guess, so I dont have an idea how it went. But I found a deep slicing (not sure if its the right word) on the right wheel tire and it was so deep (and around 5cm in width) that I had to replace the tire. So assume that there could have been a hard hit and the wheel took damage. The noise started a couple of the days after I found it.
i recently purchased a 2007 Chevy Avalanche 4WD (75K miles) and much to my chagrin, in the first week, i detected a noise that has steadily become worse. the dealership (a Chevrolet dealer) has not been able to determine the cause. I've had it back four times already. The noise always occurs between 45-60mph (not rpm-related) there is a groaning sound and it is accompanied by a vibration in the steering wheel. it is especially notcieable when going around turns in the road at these speeds.
The dealer said it might be related to the alternative fuel management (DOD), but i deactivated the AFM and the noise is still there. I suspected wheel hubs but they checked and said the hubs are fine. The other day as i heard the noise i dropped it out of overdrive down into "3" and the noise suddenly disappearred. All gear shifts are fine, but this was somewhat alarming. I am beginning to think this might be related to the transfer case or front differential? maybe this would be good for "Stump the Chump" ?
