My brakes squeak while I'm driving, but go away when I apply pressure to the brakes. Why?

View 6 RepliesYesterday I had my snow tires installed at Costco. Immediately afterward I noticed that the rear brakes squeak when I apply the brakes. I took the car back to Costco and asked them if they applied the proper torque or if anything unusual appeared during the change-over. They said no.... I loosened and retorqued the wheels and no change......they still squeak when I apply the brakes.
Questions: I assume there are wear indicators on the rear pads, could this be causing the squeeling? If so, aren't they supposed to squeel all the time when they reach their limit? I haven't inspected the wear yet...... What the tolerance is for the amount of lining on the pad. Could this be a rotor problem? I"m not feeling any pedal vibration.
While driving recently I experienced what felt like continued acceleration when I applied the brake. It was only a fleeting moment, but was scary nonetheless.
View 2 RepliesI just purchased a used 2007 Lexus GS 350 AWD. I had it inspected and there were some minor problems (air filter, small oil issue) but nothing big. Driving it, I've noticed that the wheel shakes a little bit when applying brakes and based on my google searches, it's likely a rotor problem. I've literally only driven the car less than 100 miles since it was inspected. Does the inspection place (Tires Plus) bear any responsibility for clearing the inspection on the car? Should I take the car to Tires Plus to look at or should I take it somewhere else?
View 11 RepliesI have a 2007 Chevy HHR. A couple of weeks ago I had to change the caliper on the driver's side of the car. I had some squeaking after, but bled the brakes and the squeaking went away. The other day I took the caliper off and painted it. I have custom wheels and you can see the caliper plainly, it was rusted so I painted it. Now I am getting the squeaking again, but it stops when I apply the brakes. I bled them again, but still the squeaking. This is driving me crazy. Could it be the "chirper" that is dragging on the rotor? Also I want to add, it squeaks until I get up to about 45 mph. Then it stops. And as I said, it stops when I apply the brakes.
View 6 RepliesI just purchased a 2012 GX Ultra! So in the contract from the Toyota dealer (where we purchased the truck from) offered a 36 day "warranty" which says they will cover any problem that we experience from time of purchase to the 36 day mark.
The vehicle came to us clean, one owner, and the Lexus warranty for the 4 yr OR 80,000 KM just ended. The warranty just reached the 4 yr mark and has only 78,000 KM. Firstly we we called Lexus Canada to try to get info on extended warranty or as they call it "ECP". They said the local dealer usually does provide the warranty in a short time frame after expiration like this.
Secondly we are experiencing a sort of rumble when the brakes are applied. We felt this rumble on the test drive, and told the sales person we wanted this fixed before we drove off the lot. When we did leave it still had the rumble. Now we might think it is a mechanism within the car to alert the driver the brakes are being applied.

I recently bought a 2007 Sonata V6, and the brakes pulsate (when applied) at highway speeds, so I am looking to replace the front rotors & pads. I have been told that the OEM rotors/pads aren't great & that as a result many owners have a brake pulsating/vibration issue.
View 9 RepliesMy '07 GS350 recently began exhibiting brake squeal when brakes were gently applied. I subsequently took it to my dealer for a multipoint inspection, with the results being the car was fine, including the brakes. I was told the squeak was the result of brake dust, and nothing to worry about.
Since the inspection, I noticed the right front wheel is accumulating brake dust, but none of the others are; and the noise is irritating. I called my SA yesterday and explained the situation. He reviewed the car's service history, and noted the front pads were replaced with noiseless/dustless pads 40k miles ago. I agreed. He again said it was nothing to worry about. My thoughts are I'll have to put new pads on the front, even though the current ones are fine.
I'm looking at buying a 2006 GS300 AWD with 91K miles for 18K. My husband noticed when you touch on the brakes they vibrate/chatter..? The previous owner took very good care of it and I believe it is all hwy miles. The part that is weird to us after looking over the car fax, we noticed from 2006 to present it has been in the shop anywhere from 2000 to 5000 miles getting new brakes, pads, tires fixed, rotations, tires fixed etc.. Does this year have problems with the brake system? Has there been a recall on the brake system? I'm finding 2006 has other problems but I can't find anything on the brakes. Also, when you look at the menu for service on the nav screen the brakes and oil are red lite...?
View 6 Replies2005 Lexus RX330. 98K miles. 2 year intermittent problem. When apply brakes the front end shimmies until car completely stopped then go again & all is well until at some future time it happens again. Dealer checked twice & private repair checked also. Nothing found. Tires re-balanced & rotated several times. Newer tires with no issues. This is an INTERMITTENT problem. The rotors have been, new pads & spring installed.
View 10 RepliesMy 2008 gs 350 E-brake or parking brake isn't as tight anymore on a hill it doesn't stop my car when applied when parked how to adjust this? I rather not go to the dealer if its a simple fix?
View 5 RepliesI did lube my brakes 2 weeks ago (2nd I am doing it) and since then for the first couple of kms, the brakes are making a squeak noise. I think I put a little too much grease. Could it be the reason why its making noise ?
View 10 RepliesWhen I 1st brought the car the original brakes and rotors squeak, I really didn't mind bcuz I had plans on changing them, now I installed the aftermarket slot/drilled rotors with new ceramic brake pads, and I still get squeaking from the front brakes, weather it's wet or dry, cold or warm they squeak, what I can do to stop this?
View 5 RepliesI have a 2015 IS250 F Sport with brakes that squeak. First time dealer said can't replicate and suggested hard braking to burn off any residue on rotors. Second time, dealer replace rear brake calipers which resulted in mix match colors of the brake caliper and bracket. Not happy.
Well it's starting to squeak again. Not sure if moisture and or cold has anything to do with it. Washed the car yesterday and as I was moving it down the driveway (small incline) the brakes squeaked as soon as I released the brake pedal. I was able to replicate this several times yesterday.
This morning brakes squeaked as soon as I released the brake pedal. Not on an incline driveway today.
I leased a 2015 RC-350 F sport back in October. It is my 6th Lexus. I noticed that the brakes would repeatedly squeak (all types of conditions). It happens the final few feet while coming to a compete stop where the brakes would squeak incredibly loud. I had the car inspected at the dealership, and after my second complaint the car was inspected and a new set of rotors and pads were installed.
Unfortunately, the second set is worse than the first. Another complaint to the dealership and I was told they had done everything in their power, and I should complain to Lexus Customer Satisfaction. It's been 2 weeks since my initial call to them and finally after several calls to them asking for support they told me today it is deemed "normal operation of these high performance brakes".
After putting my Ford Ranger in park and pressing down on the E-break to get the news-paper or mail. I've noticed that there is a consistent squeaking coming from the back drum brakes when the brake pedal is applied. But only for a certain period of time; then the squeaking stops.
View 8 RepliesIf your getting weird squeaky noises from bumpy roads I found some resolution...remove all of the foam from the trunk that holds the tools and such. I was getting this sound that was driving me nuts and tried this and its completely quiet now....
View 2 RepliesMy 2007 Lexus ES350 with 81,000 miles on it has a very low frequency squeak when the heater is first cold or on low. When I turn up the fan above the lowest setting the squeak will go away. I checked my cabin air filter but it appears to be clean & newly replaced.
View 7 RepliesThe rear suspension on my 2013 F Sport AWD with 27,000 miles has started to squeak slightly. It doesn't do it all the time but is audible from within the car even with the stereo at low volume. When the road is smooth it's quiet but it'll squeak on even slightly uneven pavement.
Of course the F Sport has air suspension. I haven't experimented with the different ride settings or height adjustment yet but it is audible in Normal mode.
I have noticed a rubber squeak from my driver's door on my 2010 ES 350. It disappears when the rubber is wet so I am thinking perhaps there is a silicon product that I could apply or another fix for this? Any solutions out there?
View 4 RepliesI lost a brake line on my pickup truck, had it replaced a couple days ago. Occasionally, when i apply the brakes i get a brake chatter. It has occurred 3-4 times in the last 4-5 days. No pattern to it happening.
