I would like to know if there is a way to activate the automatic door locking when leaving the car, my car is oiut of warranty and i remember that i had that option on my car, but for some reason, i doesn't now. I've tried leaving the fob far from the car, but the doors does not locking automatically for any reason.
View 5 RepliesI have a 2007 Hyundai Santa Fe and over the last 3 weeks I have been having a lot of trouble with my door locks. One thing is my automatic lock that happens when you hit 14mph, every time I hit 14mph my doors sound like they are locking 4 times, and every time I stop and take off again they sound like they are locking 4 more times. It is driving me crazy. Another issue I am having is my back passenger side door doesn't always unlock with the FOB or the button on the driver door, it has to manually be unlocked.
View 12 RepliesI'm slowly reading through the ES-350 manual, picking and choosing parts to read. There are several 'Personalized Preferences' that I've noted down and will have addressed at my 1st month service.
I noticed on pg. 21 of the manual that there are settings to set and cancel the door-locking/unlocking functions. These functions are also mentioned in the 'Personalized Preferences' section, so there is overlap here (on paper anyways).
Anyways I tried a couple of times to follow the instructions on pg. 21 to disable the door locking and unlocking when the car is placed in Park and Neutral.
It didn't work for me. The instructions aren't all that clear to me, nor of what they are supposed to accomplish. I'd like to not have the doors lock when I place the shift out of Park and not have the doors unlock when I place the shift into Park.
2010 ES350, 84,000 miles. I have seen many threads on door locking/unlocking issues but none quite like mine that I've been able to locate. The key fob stopped locking the doors a few weeks ago, neither will the lock button on the drivers door inside the car. No sounds, beeps, lights or mechanical attempts to lock the doors. There are no indicator lights or messages suggesting an issue.
I can go around and manually lock all the doors, hit the lock on the key fob, and the car will beep and light up as if the locks worked fine. I also manually locked each door separately and in all combinations, the only combination which will enable the beep as if the door locks work with the fob is if they are all locked. The fob will unlock the doors however, unlocking has not been an issue.
My first attempt to correct was to disconnect the battery for a few minutes, reconnect and they worked fine for a week or so. The next time, with all the same symptoms, disconnecting the battery did nothing, the fob, however did start working a day or two later. The third time it happened we took the car directly to the dealership who has had it for 5 days and have been unable to identify an issue (the fob started to work on day 3).
My wife said that her keys stopped locking/unlocking doors. I checked the keys and replaced the battery just to be sure. No change. Older keys also couldn't unlock/lock the car.
Both keys can start the car and has blinking red LED flushing when any buttons pushed. Is there a "Remote" button somewhere in a car to allow remote operation?
2007 RX400h 110k mi.
I was told by the Lexus service dept. that they could do it for $30, so I was wondering if there was a way to do it for less money or no money at all. It's for a 2004 RX 330.

The owners manual indicates that I can get the doors to lock automatically at 20 km/hr. I have tried following the instructions in the manual to make this happen but without any success.
View 14 RepliesI have a 2014 is250. Everything was fine until i showed it to a friend who hoped in it like a fool and started mashing buttons. So when I got home i realized when i shut the car down, opened the door nothing turned off. And my fob is not locking or doing anything. When you shut the car door it makes the same beeps that it makes when i hope out at the gas station with the keys in my hand and the car still running.
View 4 RepliesI have a 08 corvette that allows you to walk away from the car with the fob in your pocket and the car locks without having to touch anything once the fob is a certain many feet away from the car. I like that option and I cannot figure out how to do it on my wife's 2013 RX ( or even if it will work that way)
I don't drive her car that much but it seems inconvenient to have to remember to touch the little depression area on the outside driver handle to lock the car. I know, I could just get used to it , but just walking away without having to do something seems more simple and should be an option in a car of this cost and technology.
Is it possible to program the car to lock all doors when I walk away with the fob and not having to touch anything on the car?
2013 RX350. Using either remote to lock the car, the mirrors fold and all doors except the two front lock. Not getting the normal chirp.
View 3 RepliesIt seems the LS460 cannot go DIRECTLY from "the engine is running with the infotainment system on" to "the engine is turned off, but the infotainment system remains on".
It seems as soon as you turn off the engine, the infotainment system cuts off immediately, dropping any bluetooth calls, music, or anything else.
You must press the Start button once more to get the accessories to come back (after a delay... since the wheel and seats have to retract once again... seems wasteful to me).
The only workaround I found, is to put the transmission into Neutral, then cut the engine... then put the transmission into Park.
This method will leave the accessories ON after the engine is cut, BUT it will not apply the automatic parking brake (if you use the feature).
It seems like a sludgy workaround... since I ALWAYS leave the parking brake in automatic mode, so I'd like it to engage every time the car is parked... which doesn't seem possible if I use this workaround.
Wife's Tig had an issue with its rear doors. Dome lights would activate only with front doors. If you opened the rear doors only, no dome lights.
VW dealer says they found the issue, I disabled the DRLs via VCDS and now he states that disables the rear door dome lights. He even went so far to say that I had installed an "aftermarket" part in order to disable the DRLs.
Any example for disabled their DRLs and lost the rear door dome lights?
Wife's picking up the Tig now. I'm sure the DRLs are now working. I'll VAG it again to remove the DRLs and see if I lose the rear door dome lights.
I have a 2001 F150 2 door 2wd 5.4 engine. When I put it in gear the automatic door locks do not activate. The procedure for programming the remote does not work either. It calls for turning the ignition switch on and off 9 times, and the doors should unlock, so that procedure does not work either.
I took it to the dealer to have the BCM reprogrammed, they say there is no BCM in the vehicle. The codes they got says there is a door ajar, and the interior lamp relay DTC. I am not sure what the DTC means, forgot to ask.
The door warning light goes out when the doors are closed, and the interior light goes out. They do not seem to know how the system operates. I bought the wiring diagram.
From what I can see, closed lock switch connects directly to the GEM. The dealer told me there is two switches in the door. There is only one as far as I can determine. Ther are two plugs on the locking mechanism, on is for the remote lock, it works. So the lock closed switch is also working.
Reading this forum, I see several cases where people have changed the GEM, and that did not fix the problem. I can not see any other solution, as the door closed switch connects directly to the GEM, and the door open warning goes out, and the interior light goes out.
I have a '00 Ford ranger and a '99 f-150 , when leaving the doors open , interior lights go off after 10-15 minutes in the ranger but not on my 150. Is there a relay or something aftermarket that makes this possible on the 150 ?

Im having problems with my lights not turning off in the evening hours after the lights have been on and I have just turned the car off. I have waited for long period of time and sometimes have to go inside the car and manually turn them off. Has this been a problem?

View 12 RepliesAutomatically lock doors 30 seconds after exiting car. I have found a maker of a simple module that can be easily added under the dash with five wires. easy to install and does NOT require integration into the databus (CANbus) system. Installed on 2011 GenIII currently.
The processor looks for the (+) ignition to be turned on, then waits for it to go back off. It then looks at the (-) door pin input and waits for the door to open then close again. At that point, there is an LED output that starts flashing slowly for 20 seconds. During this 20 second period the processor is monitoring both the ignition input and the door pin input - if either of them toggle their state the timer pauses, then starts over once both signals are clear.
After 20 seconds the module outputs a short beep through an external hood mounted beeper and then the LED starts flashing quickly for 10 seconds, while the processor continues to monitor the inputs (and resets to the very beginning if something changes). At the end of this 10 second period the module outputs a (-) door lock signal. Finally, the LED output flashes at a slow rate to simulate an aftermarket security system.

I have experienced a problem with the driver's side door locking and not opening. It just happened to me with my 2008 LS460 so I can't get in or out of the car from the driver's side.
