Lexus ES 2007-12 :: 2011 - Turn Off The Auto Tilt Steering Feature?
Mar 13, 2015
I had this on my lS430 a ways back and had to take it to the dealer to disable. No mention of this my owners manual that I can find.

View 2 RepliesIs there a button, function etc that will allow me to disable the telescopic steering wheel tilt-away feature ? I would rather not have the steering wheel move every time I insert/remove the key. LX570 2014 ..
View 8 RepliesWhen I'm in reverse and trying to back out of a narrow space, I need to see what's behind me.. not what's on the ground underneath my side mirrors. How do I turn OFF this highly annoying function? I've searched all through the manual and can't seem to locate it..
View 5 RepliesHow to turn this off? I managed to turn off the driver's side auto-slider but can't figure out how to turn off the steering wheel portion. I'm not a big fan of the entry/exit assist. I kind of feel that all that movement will wear out the motor over time. Perhaps I'm just being paranoid.

I'd like to turn the auto locking 'feature' off. By this I mean the doors locking at 7MPH.
I'm a long-time VAG-COM user, and have performed this operation on a couple of previous vehicles, but the Central Locking controller isn't accessible on this car.
VCDS reports 'no response from controller' after three attempts.
In vehicle settings, there is auto relock feature, i set it up to 60 seconds, the guy who did a walk through with us said, if we leave the car unlocked for 60 seconds it will automatically relock itself. Left the car in the garage for about 5 minutes and still didnt unlock. Is auto relock supposed to relock the car when we walk away?
View 9 RepliesExcellent feature since I park in the city along curbs all the time. I know you have to have the button lit in L or R for the feature to work. Initially, I only had to push L or R once and it would stay lit all the time, but just recently, I have to push L or R every single time I drive my car to use the feature. Just a minor inconvenience, but what did I do and how can I fix this so I don't have to push L or R every single time I drive my car to use this feature?
View 3 RepliesHave problems getting window tinted? Just got my RC 350 and i took it to one of the most referred places in town for tints. (small town)
Anyways, they are having trouble with the drivers side window bc that little autoroll down feature when you open the door keeps on messing up the bottom edge of the tint. I've already taken it back to the shop for them to fix it and now I have to take it back on Monday to get it fixed again.
Any way to disable this auto roll down feature on the rc 350?
When you turn off the engine the steering wheel and seats will retract to allow more space for you to exit the car. Side mirrors will fold up. Motion happens in reverse when you sit in the car and start the engine.
Is there a way for me to turn off these auto features to save their motor life?
I bought my 11 GX460 a few months a go and I went out yesterday morning and it wouldn't start.. Of course I left the interior lights on and I drained the battery. Is there a setting somewhere that can automatically turns the interior light turn off after a set amount of time.
View 4 RepliesIf I understand the manual the "Steering wheel auto away and return function" can only be turned off by the dealer. Is this right?
What do most of you do? Seems nice to have. But also could be a lot of wear and tear on the two motors to do this. Is it worth it.
I'm starting to have this problem with my 07. I pulling my garage and the auto lights come on, I shut the car off and the lights will go off after 30 seconds...now every 15th time the lights stay on until the battery dies.....
View 10 RepliesMy 2011 ES350 has 43,000 miles and runs great. I took it to Firestone today for tire rotation, full synthetic oil change and I let the guy talk me into adding fuel injector cleaning.
When I got the car back, I noticed the Auto Climate Control button wasn't working properly. If I press it on, I can't press it off. The green light stays on. If I turn off the fan, the Auto button goes off. I am positive the button worked before the service.
What could have happened that would cause this? I know the service guy had to press some buttons to turn off the "oil change required" message. Could he have messed something up in the process?
my turn signals only work with the steering wheel tilted all the way up. It works for me, but my wife drives the truck mostly because we live a mile from her work. The dealer said it was a "peanut connector." And can someone walk me through the steps to fixing it?
View 8 RepliesThe leather on my steering wheel was peeling off and I brought it up to the dealer and out of their goodwill, they decided to replace it with a completely new one. Props to the dealer. However this is where all the problems start to occur. I drop off the car This past Sunday and pick up a loaner. I get a call the next day saying my car is ready. So I get there and everything seems good.
There's an open road that I like to take home but this is where I noticed something weird. When my steering wheel was level, the car was veering right.. I had to tilt the steering wheel a little left to go straight . I call the dealership right away and they tell me to bring it back. So I do that and pick up another loaner.
Following day , I go back to the dealership and they tell me they fixed the alignment. Now everything is good! I was yet again wrong. When I got home, I noticed my steering wheel was weird.
So taking the car back tomorrow to get this fixed! Still props to the dealer for giving me a brand new steering wheel..
I LOVE my new 2015 RX. I took delivery just a few weeks ago (07/11/14) and just hit the 1K mark! This car is so nice, and solid I truly am so happy and proud to have it.
One little *little* thing that I did notice.. is that over the past few days.. I notice that when I get in the car, or exit.. and the automated tilt steering wheel moves up or down, it make a very loud, and defined "squeak" noise. Specifically happens in the lower end, (i.e. when the wheel is near the bottom of the travel, as I have the wheel set to the lowest setting). the upper part of the travel seems fine.
Is this something I can fix myself with grease of some type? I would hate to have to block off a day, take to the dealer, get a loaner car.. and then go back etc.. plus.. I hate going to the dealer.. I am of the mindset that they generally cause more issues. (What if they scratch something, sit on the edge of my leather seats and make creases, etc.. ) so, if there is a way I can fix it.. I am all for it.
A co-worker of mine got a recent 300h and has had some intermittent recurrences of the following issue when powering down the car. Normally, the tilt wheel tilts up and driver's seat slides back for you to exit the car easily. It's happened about 5 times during very cold weather where the motion of both steering and seat would stop partially along the way, not completing the cycle.
View 11 RepliesMy 2007 ES 350 will chime if the car is on and the door is opened. It will also warn you if the car is on and the electronic key becomes out of range.
One day both of these features stopped working. Everything else seems to be working just fine.
2013 RX 350, how to add this feature to give 3 blinks or more with partial movement of turn signal lever.
View 14 RepliesTrying to enable the auto lock feature so when I start driving the doors automatically all lock. I have the 5 digit code and followed Apoc's instructions of entering code, holding 7/8, pressing 3/4 and releasing 7/8. Did not work.
When I enter the code just on it's own it will unlock the door however when I enter the code just on it's own it will not lock the door. I do hear it doing something but just does not lock it. I also tried the ignition method. No luck there either. Horn never chirps. Tried it with the wipers on too just in case. Is there something wrong with the actuator possibly?
Someone mentioned that the '01 may not even have the feature.
In the last two days I've noticed that my steering wheel would suddenly have intermittent episodes of being hard to turn for a second or so. It has gotten progressively worse over the last 24 hours or so where when trying to make a right turn the steering wheel feels noticeably "heavy" during the turn. And in some cases after I make a turn onto a side street I let go of the steering wheel for it to straighten itself out so I can continue straight down the street I just turned on but the steering wheel doesn't straighten itself out quickly enough like it used to and I have to physically turn it back myself otherwise I'd start making a u-turn motion and careen into a parked car. Weird.
I can only conclude that there's something wrong with my power steering rack.
FYI, I have a 2009 460 SWB AWD with about 78k miles on it.
