2010 ES 350 with 103k miles on it. I noticed what appeared to be oil in the muffler, it was visible on both sides. It was raining so perhaps the rain was just getting into the muffler tip and cleaning the carbon. The engine was very smooth, and nothing seemed out of the ordinary.

View 4 RepliesI was driving down the PA turnpike and heard rear-end noise. I pulled over and this piece was hanging down on the right side in front of the rear tire and at the back edge of the rear door, right where the muffler is. I did a search and found this to be a common problem with the 330s but did not see anything on the 350s. I drove another 500 miles to the beach and then back home without any noticeable affects, but not that I looked underneath.
View 1 RepliesSo I go into my garage last night and see a puddle under the rear of my car. Looks like H20 so I look under and the leak appears to be coming from the right muffler along the seam line. No dents so doesn't appear something hit it unless of course when my wife took it the other day she ran over a curb or something! I rush over to the dealer and head tech says looks like the muffler seam looks to be pulling apart? He says condensation may have eroded metal and caused seam to go.18k miles 15 months old I cannot imagine this happening. Any ways got a NX F-sport as a loaner - already miss the LS! I guess this may take some time as he said they have to get Lexus involved. I will just pack the miles on the NX!
View 7 RepliesNoticed that the Gen 3 black model seems to scratch very easily? In my ten years of owning cars, I've received less than 10 scratches. In 10 months of owning my Gen 3, I have now at least 5 pretty visible scratches. I do my best to park away from other cars, don't park by high pedestrian traffic streets, etc. I'm taking precautions I never took with my other cars and I still get rudely surprised almost monthly.
View 19 RepliesI had a hitch installed about a year ago by U-Haul. Probably my first mistake. Although "custom" ordered it rattles against the muffler. They have been unable or unwilling to fix it. It appears that the muffler needs to be a bit lower. How to get rid of the noise.
View 1 RepliesWhen the sun is fairly low but bright on the horizon and in front of the windshield there are thousands of tiny specks visible in the windshield that are fairly evenly distributed. They are very small and almost look metallic and appear to be within the safety glass laminate. It is very annoying even when using the sun visor and restricts visibility noticeably.
We have the same thing with our 2006 Prius with approx 80,000 miles and our 2010 Prius has about 30,000 miles. At first I thought it might be some pitting on the surface of the windshield due to road or dust debris but the glass appears to be perfectly smooth. No matter how well I clean the windshield these small specks still appear. I have researched this a bit and have seen quite a few reports from others with this phenomenon especially with GM and BMW vehicles even with new vehicles or new windshields. The most likely thing I have found so far is that it is caused by a metal flake put between the glass lamination to reduce glare.
My car is usually garage-kept. Last week, I left it in an outdoor parking lot at the airport for 5 days, with temps ranging from 5 to 20 degrees. When I returned and turned it on, it responded with a very loud and visible shudder that lasted about 20 seconds. It gradually diminished, and then was fine. I've been driving it normally for two days, with no more symptoms. But this morning, turning the car on in the garage, it gave me the shudder again, this time for only about 5 seconds.

View 9 RepliesOk, I just bought a 2010 Mazda 6 off company lease from a friend and noticed the rear tail lights are melting on both sides - yes, actually melting. Original bulbs are as installed. Brought it to the dealer and of course its out of warranty with 48,000 miles & no Mazda won't repair it (for free anyway). Original bulbs. Is this a problem with Mazdas and are there many documented cases?? I'm in the process of brining it to the next level.
View 3 RepliesWhen it heats up and expands, I often hear a faint "pop" from the muffler. Same thing when I shut the car off and it cools down and contracts. Kind of like denting a pop can with your thumb.
Doesn't really bother me, just curious. It's kind of a funny quirk. Will try to take a video clip of it. Usually does it within 30 seconds of shutting it down.
I (or rather my dad) have a 2007 avalon limited. I'm trying to install a backup camera for him. I don't know if it's something I did now but I see the outer reverse lights (on the car body, rather than trunk lid) don't come on as they should. Also any tips to install the video interface and/or camera are extremely welcome - it can never be too basic!
View 11 RepliesBack in July of last year, I installed the OEM foglight kit and replaced the lightbulbs with a pair of yellow Luminics JDM 55w H11 bulbs.
A few months later when it would rain or snow, condensation began appearing on the inside of the foglight lens on both sides. It would burn off when I left the foglights on for a while, but would reappear shortly thereafter. The driver's side would generally stay clear most of the time but the passenger side would always have moisture on the inside.
Then, a few months ago, the driver's side bulb seemed to burn out. Today, when I took them apart to reinstall the clear lightbulbs, it turns out that fluid (it actually looked like windshield washer fluid) had gotten inside the connector and shorted it out, actually melting some of the plastic to the contact. It took a while, but I was able to scrape off enough of the plastic from the contact to get it to work with the JDM bulb again.
I need to fully dismount the tail lights on both sides in order to put some sound deadener behind them (rattle a little due to my new subwoofer). How to do this without breaking any clips or other hardware?

Also I noticed that the back seat vibrates a lot with any tiny imperfection on the road while the front seat you barely feel any vibration on rough roads. Is it only my car?
View 2 RepliesI have a 2003 SC430 with 84,000 miles on it. The locks on both sides suddenly stopped working automatically. The car can only be unlocked from the outside with the key inserted in the door. The doors can only be operated from the inside by manually locking or unlocking each door on that door above the handle. Remote batteries are new. The Windows work fine. Could it be a fuse?

Finally got around to take a video. This is a muffler delete with stock resonators. I had the shop cut right where the axel back bolts up to the midpipe thus ridding of the factory crushed pipe.

Today I happen to notice that both sides of my running board rear light is loose. Tried a bit and did not figure out how to put them back in place. Since both sides got loose, I guess it is a quite common issue?
View 4 RepliesMine is 4 years old and the voltage is down to 12.3. I tried recharging it but it wouldn't sustain the 12.6 voltage recharge. So, with winter coming, I looked at the Optima red top and this one, which I ended up liking better for many reasons.
