I have searched the forum without finding a lot of information for the ac servos for this year or model. I have a slight noise coming from the center dash with the ac on. My question is: Is some noise normal, and do I only try to fix if the servo quits working?
View 5 RepliesI took my car to the dealer last week to repair a clicking noise coming from the juncture of the right front windshield and dash. They said they added felt to the speaker grill and fixed it. NOT SO, still makes the noise, it is better though seems to get better when the weather is warmer. How to get the speaker grill off without damaging it. If so I will try to address the thing myself.

One thing that I've begun hearing is a rattle that sounds like it's coming from the center speaker area on my dash. I have the ML system so not sure if the standard audio package has this speaker. I'm not 100% that it coming from the speaker but it's somewhere towards the center of my dash.
View 2 RepliesI've had my 2015 Camry SE for about a month now. During the second week, I was driving into work and noticed an electronic noise coming from the center of the dash. I can describe it as sounding like a CD continuously spinning. It continued after I parked and shut the ignition off. I opened the door, then got back in and turned the car on, and the sound stopped. I figured maybe it was cell phone interference.
This morning, it happened again on my way to work. Same exact scenario. The only similarity I can tell is that I had to use my heat/defrosters both mornings.
I have a 2013 GS, RWD. 33k miles. This is my third Lexus. Wife owns an 05 GX that we will drive till it dies. Had a 2010 RX also. The problem I'm about to describe occurred on the RX and now this GS which makes me crazy. The bottom line is that I have an intermittent noise that comes from the center of my dash. It sounds like someone is clicking a PC mouse very, very fast. It sounds like it is coming from behind the navigation. I've had it to the dealer multiple times and gone all the way to corporate.
The problem is that I have a Murphy's Law situation in that it doesn't occur on demand. I've even sent them a video of the noise but since they don't hear it themselves they won't touch my dash to fix it. Since it had this same noise now on two different vehicles I know it is a manufacturer problem and not just one vehicle. Both cars have navigation.
I recently purchased a 2009 CPO LS460 from my Lexus dealer and cannot get the Aux input in the center console to come up. When I plug my Ipod in, and I push the Disc/Aux button on the ML stereo, all I get is either the CD player or the HDD drive but the Ipod will not show up. Could the Aux jack be bad? I have tried several different cords and inputs (ipod, phone music, etc).
View 7 RepliesThe lid to the center console "pops up" constantly. The release button is so sensitive that it doesn't even have to been pushed down for the lid to pop open. The slightest touch to the button will make the lid open. It is such a nuisance! It will close and stay shut so I know it isn't broken. If I rest my arm on the lid it will sometimes pop open. Lexus made a poor design flaw on this by putting the button in such a touchy place.

There is a very pronounced metallic rattle coming from the rear of the cabin when going over moderate sized bumps or listening to audio at moderate levels. Did some troubleshooting and have narrowed the noise down to somewhere above the rear center of the headliner. If I press slightly upwards on the headliner at this location, the noise stops.
View 1 RepliesMy 2007 Santa Fe Limited 3.3L with 102,000 miles started making a grinding/ticking noise yesterday. It's hard to tell but it sounds like its coming from directly under the center console. The noise is directly proportional to the speed and if I put my hand on the shift selector, I can feel the tick vibrations. It drives and shifts fine. What it could be? I'm hoping it's not a transmission issue. I'm thinking something with the AWD connection to the rear wheels.

View 3 Replies2009 ES350. Couple of months ago I have driving down the high way and a ton of light popped up on the dash. (CEL tracking VSC) After another 50 miles it developed a miss. Next morning the miss went away and it but all the lights were still on. Auto zone said misfire so I figured I need to change plugs(65k on the motor) well 100 miles into coming home the mis fire comes back. and we make it home. Next day same thing.....
I change the plugs.... disconnect the computer and it was good for a couple hundred miles and BAM!! it starts all over. CEL on... I noticed if I stay city driving it doesn't get to the miss fire point. but if I do any kind of highway driving it'll eventually develop a miss.
I check it again and it showed 2 and 4 mis fire, I picked up 3 coils put them all on the front. It ran good for 350 miles and bam here it is again. Last Sunday I started up the car and it just started misfiring at idle. well I went to check it at autozone coz it was really bad. and it had 4 cylinders misfiring total.
Well in the mean time getting it checked the light were on it wouldn't start. so I just bought a battery. (it had been having battery issues over the last couple months) I don't want wifey to be stranded somewhere with the baby.
I'm new to these news lexus's.. Ive had 2 Is 300's and my daughter has a gs 300. Do I need to use a specific spark plug for the 350? Would the dying battery contribute to this?
I did find the air box was not closed properly by the oil change company wifey uses. so I thought that was an issue but it cam one at the 350 mile mark. What else to try..
I bought a brand new 2013 Corolla S just 10 days ago. Everything seemed to be working great and I was really enjoying my car, until yesterday when we had a slight drizzle. I put my wipers into intermittent mode, and immediately noticed an audible "click" sound similar to that of the turn signals.
I was quite freaked out at first, so after parking my car I investigated a bit and found the noise was coming from the dash rather than from the wipers. After a few hours of digging around on the Internet, I'm 95% certain it's coming from the wiper relay, and that this is supposed to be "normal".
This is bugging the hell out of me, so my question is, if you can replace just the wiper relay, or would you have to replace the entire stalk/motor assembly? At this point I actually don't mind shelving out $200 if it means I can get some peace of mind, literally.
Which reminds me, if say you could get an OEM (or an ever better aftermarket) wiper relay, and you went to a mechanic to have it installed, would that void the warranty?
I understand there's variations and tolerances exist in manufacturing, but you'd think Toyota would've gotten something as simple as a wiper relay figured out! The 2013 Corolla S I rented for 3 months never had this issue, nor did my mom's 2005 Corolla, or my dad's 2011 RAV4. So why my car?
2010 Matrix XR, car drives great except while driving off of parking lot going slow over bumps I hear a bit of rattling noise coming what seems like the driver side dash area... it almost feels like its coming perhaps from the steering wheel but the steering wheel feels very tight with no play at all.. Other than that it's all good can not hear anything wrong driving on a smooth road or a highway...
View 9 RepliesMy 2010 prius is making a strange sound, and has been since day one.
It makes a "Clicking" sound sometimes that can be heard inside the cabin and sounds like it is coming from the center dash. It is definitely NOT a squeaky dash or door panel or anything like that. It is definitely electrical in nature. It almost sounds like a very fast clicking relay or maybe another electrical component. It is fairly high pitched (not like the inverter whine, though) and definitely clicking (maybe buzzing), not constant. It sort of sounds like a cricket. I am working on adding some audio/video to this post, should have some up today.
Here are some things I have noticed about the noise:
1. Only happens when gas pedal is depressed, not when braking or coasting.
2. When the display is in "Eco" it happens loudest and consistently when the bar is 3/4 of the way full, but it can happen (although the clicking is slower and less consistent) at 1/2 or just before the power section of the bar.
3. The car must be "warmed up" i.e. doesn't happen right away, car must be driven for 10-15 min if engine is cool.
4. Seems to be happening more/more quickly after starting the car in the hotter weather (I purchased my car in Feb.)
I have a 2012 Sonata GLS with 3300 miles on it. I have noticed that now that the temperature has dropped to below 60 degrees I have annoying dash rattle. It seems to be based on the rpm of the motor (1200-1500 rpm). So every time I take off from a stop sign or stop light I have this buzzing rattling coming from the center of the dash. It sounds like it is in the upper part behind the radio. The wife drove last night and I put my ear on the passenger side vent by the radio and I could hear the rattle. I am just trying to isolate the problem so when I go to the dealership I can give them some decent information. I thought the problem was the cowling on the bottom of the windshield. In the center of the window it had warped up. They replaced the cowling earlier this week and the problem is still there.

When the tires spin (like taking off on a hill in the rain - that's when i noticed it) and I let off to let everything settle down, I hear a rattling kind of noise coming from the middle dash area, maybe on the engine compartment side of the firewall. It sounds like a rubber ball in a box being jostled around. What this might be?
View 3 RepliesI have been getting a loud, high-pitched mechanical-sounding noise coming from the middle of the dash, near the CD player. It lasts only a few seconds, but it scares the sh!t out of me every time! It happens out of the blue after I've been driving for a few minutes about every 3 weeks or so. The sound is almost impossible to describe...but if you've had it happen you probably know exactly what I'm talking about. It happened today while I was listening to a CD, so I can't imagine it's the player that's doing it. Non-Nav/Air V8

View 8 RepliesHas rattle that sounds like it is coming from the centre of the dash? It sounds like a piece of tin sheet metal is rattling faintly. I wouldn't think a fuel line rattle would sounds like that, but maybe I am incorrect? Putting pressure on the dash with your hand doesn't seem to make it stop.
We also get the creek in the l/h side that I had assumed prior that it was from the door seal when the body flexes.
I kept hearing some noise for quite sometime on rough roads, but never on highways. I thought it is related to suspension and kept complaining to the dealer and they would promptly come back with everything is alright. During the weekend I went to a different dealer and mentioned about the noise and the tech did the test ride and immediately pointed it out as dash rattle. The tech was able to place his hand on the dash close to the windshield (slightly to the right of the steering wheel) and the noise stopped on the rough roads. I have 97K miles right now on the car and I have the extended warranty I shared this with the service rep and he is going to let me know if it will be covered.

Is there a way to just shut the system down until after the weather clears up or forever, since its failed twice before?
