View 3 RepliesI was asking questions regarding the V10 TDI. I've recently narrowed down our second vehicle consideration to a T-reg and a Landcruiser. I realize I'm asking opinions from Volkswagen enthusiasts. I can purchase both brand new for roughly the same amount. Here are the pros of each, at least as I see it:
Touareg V10 TDI Pros:
1) The motor! Incredible power!
2) Fuel Mileage
3) Luxury Feel/Amenities
4) Exterior/Interior Style
5) Handling/Driving Characteristics
Landcruiser Pros:
1) Interior Room
2) Reliability
3) Cost of Maintenance/Ownership
4) Re-sale Value
5) Did I Already Mention Reliability?
I think off-road ability are close, with a slight nod to the T-reg but I doubt we would be able to use the difference in real world applications. So, would you agree or disagree with what's been listed. Since I'm having a difficult time deciding.
Have a 6cyl diesel . Starts fine in the morning. But if it sits in the hot sun for 3 or 4 hours it will crank but only start on the 2nd try.
View 3 RepliesThis is occurring on a 1997 Land Rover Discovery, but I have read of similar problems on many other "modern" cars. When I start my car, the fuse for dash gauges blows. Then with the blown fuse, the next time I try to start the car, the switch will not activate the startee solenoid relay. If I replace the dash fuse it will start again, but blow the fuse instantly, thus perpetuating the problem. This car is a beater off-road truck and I am willing to just bypass the starter switch and run a hotwired pus-button switch directly to the solenoid. Will this bypass any critical electrical operations? Should I wire the switch through the existing relay, or should I install a completely separate "siolated" relay? I having trouble tracking down how/why the starter solenoid relay would be related to the gauges....and if it is a short in the current starer solenoid circuit, can I just direct wire it to eliminate the problem?
View 3 RepliesMy 95 explorer heater only blows out cold air. I have topped off the antifreeze and just replaced the thermostat. The engine operating temperature is very cold, it won't even come up to the first mark. It is very cold here in Utah but I still can't imagine why the engine won't heat up.
View 9 RepliesMy 2007 es350 77k miles. Heater starts to get warm and then it blows cold air. What could cause this.
View 8 RepliesI have a 95 Ford mustang GT. When it is cold outside (Below 40 ish) it starts for about 1 second, dies abd the second time starts fine. has check engine light for lean exhaust. vacume pressure fine and been using injector cleaner but no improvement. replaced spark plug/ wires pcv valve.
View 5 RepliesWhy my 1995 740i only blows out cold on the drivers side and warm on the pass side? this happens when i put the a/c on.
View 3 RepliesI have a 2010 ford focus with 153,000 miles. Recently my wife and I went on vacation and the car was idle for two weeks. When the car was driven, the air conditioner only blows hot air. I had someone check the Freon level and it was good. Why this might have happened?
View 1 RepliesI have a 2002 Ford Taurus which I bought in the Winter and didn't check the air conditioner. It only blows hot air on any setting, some settings blow more hot air than others. I will have to pay to remove the dash to find out. Here's the weird part, last summer the coolant was a little low and I was stuck in a drive thru line. I watched the temperature go up until, lo and behold, the air conditioner kicked in and blew frigid air! It came on and worked twice more that day. I filled up the coolant and it hasn't worked since.
View 5 RepliesWhen going down the road, the air blows threw the defrost and on the down hill it comes back to the vent.
View 14 RepliesMy 2007 Prius air conditioner blows mainly warm rather than cool air. I took it in for repairs and they replaced the high pressure hose but it is still not cooling the car. The dealer has had the car for 2 weeks trying to determine what the problem is. They tell me it should be blowing 42 degrees but is only blowing 62 degrees. They think that it might be the invertor that cost $1,000.
View 1 RepliesWorks approximately 10 minutes, then blows hot air.
View 1 RepliesMy 2006, King Ranch, 4x4, 6.0's air conditioner only blows from the defrost vent. I have done some research on here, but haven't seen anything that identifies as a common problem. I did however, notice that this problem is stemming from a vacuum issue.
View 10 RepliesI have a Buick park avenue 1998, 3.8L V6 engine. the problem is: The ac vent on the driver's side blows cold air but on the passenger side blows EXTREMELY hot air. no matter how cold or hot you set the ac it blows at the same temperature on both sides. Florida heat is setting in and my passengers are melting. I am really hopping that is not something to bad and that I can fix it myself. Tip: this started happening after i had the alternator and the battery replaced.
View 1 RepliesI've got a 1995 Buick LeSabre that has a curious problem with the air conditioner. The AC blows good and cold, but when I accelerate the air stops blowing from the vents. I can still hear the fan running, so it's like the air is being redirected somewhere. Now, once I get up to speed after accelerating, if I let off the accelerator for a second, the AC resumes blowing normally.
View 5 RepliesI have a manually operated air conditioner. On cool days it seems to be working, but on hot days, after sitting for a while it can take 15-20 minutes for my air to come on after starting the car. It then stays cool for about 10 minutes and slowly transitions to warmer air and sometimes back to cool. I've had the freon checked and topped off, but that has not solved the issue.
View 3 RepliesI have a 1999 Jeep Cherokee and the air conditioner is giving me some problems. The issue is that at random times, it stops cooling, and just blows hot air. Sometimes I can drive all day, and it's fine. Other times, it only blows cold for a few minutes, before the air gets warm.
I've started checking under the hood when this happens, and the compressor is not engaged. I noticed a couple of times that the hoses were frosted over (not every time when the compressor was out). I have found that when the air starts blowing cold, I can turn on the heater for a few minutes, and then when I turn the A/C back on, it will blow cold air again. However, often times the cold air will only last around 10 minutes before it blows warm again. Plus, there are a couple of instances where the heater trick didn't really work.
I have a 1996 Toyota Tacoma, 5 speed manual pickup.
Occasionally I use the air conditioner. I'll be driving along and it's working fine but then it stops putting out cold air. I pulled into the mechanic one day and confirmed that when it is not putting out cold air, the compressor still seems to be running.
If I go into a store for about 15 minutes and then come out again, it works again. What might be happening?
I have noticed that on my 2012 5.0 Screw that the A/C isn't very cold. It is no where near as cold as my last truck, or any of a number of late model cars I have driven. If it's over 85 and I have it set to auto (70 degrees) it will never get there and just run full tilt the whole day. Even if you select Max A/C and blow it on you you will never have to turn the fan down from being cold as in other cars.
View 14 RepliesI have an issue with my a/c. The left side blows out air but it is not cold. The right side is cold. The whole front dash has 4 vents total so the left two does not blow out cold air at all.
