My LS is making a noise in the front when riding over bumps. Its hard to explain. Its kind of a hollow sounding noise. I took it to the dealership last week and they replaced the sway bars and sway bar bushings. That was not the problem. Its still making the noise. Could it be a spring or strut? I had a '93 Maximan that kind of did the same thing and it ended up being the struts.
View 14 RepliesI have a 2007 Sonata Ltd (63000 miles) and had a clunk in the front suspension. I had the front upper control arms replaced (which were visually badly worn) and that fixed the problem. But now, a several months later another similar clunking noise has developed when I go over those small speed bumps in parking lots.
View 18 RepliesSince Ive got my 2010 Tiguan 2.0 TSI, I hear a creaking noise coming from the front right suspension when riding over uneven pavement. The dealer said it is a common known problem from many Tiguans caused by the engine mount and that VW recommends the change of that part.
The new engine mount is slightly different from the one that is installed in my car. I am still waiting for the part to arrive and to be changed. Meanwhile, I spoke with another 2010 Tiguan owner, here in Brazil, whose car has already received the new part.
He said that the creaking noise has gone but now he feels more vibration coming from the engine and a kind of "diesel-engine-sound" when accelerating... Location of the engine mount: [URL] ....

I assume that the first number is the part number, the last is the manufacturing date and the others are either car model or manufacturer code or anything else. Note that the part number is the same, except by the letter suffix: "G" in the "old" one and "E" in the "new" part. Well, the suffix designation does not make sense for an evolutionary design...
My questions are:
1) Is it a new design or is it a roll back to an older part that does not cause that problem although it was probably modified due to another issue?
2) Is this part number specific for 2.0 TSI engine or is it the same for other engines (petrol/diesel)?
3) Which engine mount have you got on your cars?
Had drivegear springs installed about 7 months ago or so and recently the front started making a swoosh sound when going over bumps. Took it into the dealership and they told me they tightened some chassis bolts. So I take it home. Problem is still there. So I go back and let them know. I go for a ride along with the manager and he tells me the noise is normal. So now it's not a matter of it being covered under warranty but more of is it a problem at all?
I remember someone telling me it might of been the control arm bushings. I need rubber ones or something. How I should approach this so my car doesn't sound like a 1980's chevy.
ok my passat is makes noise going over bumps. it sounds just like clankly raddle. i checked under neath there appears to be nothing loose. but idk, the shocks seem to be fine. it just started to happen after i had the pads and rotors replaced. oh it is in the back.

View 6 RepliesI just got back from Town and Country Toyota charlotte, NC. They did my oil change and tire rotation. I also told them the rear spoiler is loose and making noise over bumps, they ordered a new one under warranty. I also wanted a new driver side wiper blade, they also are ordering a new one under warranty. So so far they are doing a good job. I have been there one time before.

View 7 RepliesMy car's rear suspension bushes are getting torn and are making squeaking noise in bumps. I am able to get bush for trailing arm and stabiliser bar. My dealer says that i have to replace the whole knuckle assembly as the bush for that part are not available separately. Is this true or the dealer is trying to earn some quick bucks?
View 2 RepliesMy wife and I have a 2016 SFS 2.0 and with 20k on it. We have noticed while riding down bumpy roads we can feel something loose in the steering via the steering wheel, and a clunking in the drivers front.
Also the car started making a BRRR noise while braking and turning for about 1 second. Only makes the noise when braking and turning at the same time.
My 09 camry 6 cyl with 126k miles had front end struts replaced with aftermarket ones. Now I have front end noise, banging, when I go over bumps?. Struts, mounts, springs all replaced. What can be the cause of the noise?

It has ST coilovers already and read a post from the previous owner here and he said the noise started after the install and he was told ot was the upper mounts??? Does this sound correct?? Also i noticed it when parked and just turning the wheel back and forth, popped the hood and had my son turn it and it did sound like it was coming from the upper strut area....
View 12 RepliesIve got an 07 Malibu ls. For quite some time now I have had this frt end noise. Its a tapping rattling noise on fine bumps. Here is the strange thing. It only happens in the winter and then only for a while when I start driving. It kinda goes away as I keep going. When its very cold it doesn't quite go away but gets lots less as the car is driven for a while. Ive checked everything in the front end including sway bar links. Ive made sure the brake calipers arent loose. Ive had it checked out at a reputable shop. Of course as soon as the car is inside a warm shop, it wouldnt make the noise anyways. They have not been able to pinpoint it either. What was the solution?
View 2 RepliesSo about a month ago my 2013 Sonata GLS started to make some clunking noise going over the littlest bumps over the road from the front end on both right and left side.
I brought it to one mechanic and they said the rack and pinion needs replacing which is an expensive fix. I couldn't believe that was the problem as I had no leaks and it was on their solid. I ended up taking it to my uncles mechanic and he stated its the stabilizer links on the front right and front left wheels. My way to work has a lot of bad pot holes... so I'm hoping that the stabilizers are actually the problem.
Anyways, tomorrow I will be bringing it to the mechanic to have them both changed. I know a lot have been complaining about this issue and instead of replacing the rack and pinion, I thought I'd try and see if it actually is the stabilizer links and provide a fix for some of the sonata owners on here.
this noise start like 4 month ago. I have taken the car to two mechanics and they weren't able to find where the noise is coming from. i suppose that the problem isnt really that tricky.
is kind hard to describe the nature of the sound.
mostly happen when i go over broken road or bumps where the suspension have to move up and down a little but very quickly

See the attached videos. The first one (night time) was made before I took the car to the dealer the first time. Dealer said that I was going too fast over the speed bumps, so I made another video (daytime) showing the speed (10-13 mph). Both times you can hear a squeaking noise coming from the front that I just started hearing last week. The car has only 23,000 miles on it. I bought it brand new back in September of 2010. I don't know what to do because the dealer (of course) says that they checked everything and there is nothing wrong with the car.
What was the cause of it. I can take it to a mechanic and check it myself and then bring it to VW for repairs and telling them exactly what's wrong and why.

I need to replace the rubber axle bumper guards. I have a clunking noise from the left front going over bumps. Troubleshooting I found the left front axle bumper guard is missing, right side is missing chunks and dry rotted. I had a question about how they attach. The one that is missing looks like a rusted bolt snapped off. Is it safe to assume a bolt goes right thru the center of the bumper guard into the frame? Couldn't tell on the right side it is in bad shape. Right front bolt may have sheared off on the bottom and just held in on the top by what is left.
View 5 RepliesI have a 2005 Explorer XLT Sport 4x4 w/ 118k miles. I am having front end noise when I go over speed bumps, driveway aprons, etc.
I already replaced the Struts/Coils, and ball joints, the sway bar end links are newer. The noise is almost like a noise an old spring mattress would make.
What could the issue be?
I own a 2014.5 Camry SE, 4 cyl, 17 inch wheels. 2 months ago I had the right front strut and strut cap replaced, it had a loud popping noise in the r/front, the weird thing was the noise was present with 2 or more people in the car, when I was alone really couldn't hear it. Well I still don't hear the loud popping like it had but there is still a single pop noise over big bumps at low speeds, like a speed bump. I also have the winding up noise in parking lot turning, also only with people in the car, not when I'm alone. The new strut was obviously new, the new strut cap looks identical to the old one, same paint marks as the left side, my invoice shows a strut and mount replaced. I'm at 31000 miles, should I wait a few thousand miles to see if it gets worse? I feel even right after they replaced it there was still some noise in the r/front, I'm generally in my car alone, I'm pretty cautious over speed bumps and the like, my car is driven 80% highway. They only replaced the right front , no left side strut or mount.
View 3 RepliesI'm pretty sure I know what the problem is since when I hit the brakes it stops. When I took the left side tire off and right side I compared and there is a thin metal sheet that has room to move on the right, but is tight on the left. When the brakes were done before maybe it didn't seat correctly or something. Just wondering what that plate is called so I can order one and change it. Driven that way 2 years, but it bugs me when the window is down and people probably think my car is falling apart. Maybe I'll search for a brake diagram.
Edit: I think they might be called "anti squeal shims". I saw a picture of them, so maybe they didn't put enough high temp grease, but the left side is tight and the rights side you can move a couple milometers side to side so I'm sure that's the jingling noise.
Front end noise over bumps / Bouncy fuel gauge....Lets see how it goes. Brought the car in for a few things to have fixed under my CPO warranty.
