Jimmy :: Overdrive - RPM Goes Up And Down

while cruzing in overdrive with no load on the motor, the rpm goes up and down about a 100 rpm and it feels like the torque converter is going in and out of lock steadily. Is it even the transmission? anything else I could look at? runs great and shifts fine otherwise.

I have a 1991 Jimmy (the little one) and the odometer and trip are not working. The speedo works fine. I replaced the entire instrument cluster and the problem is not fixed. Made sure the new odometer motor turned freely. Checked all circuits and traced the electrical connections plus cleaned all the contact points.

Got a 2001 jimmy. When I'm traveling down the freeway at speeds of 60 mph or more, the suv shifts from 2wd into 4 wheel drive on its own. I have to stop and you can tell its in 4wd as it makes the whirring noise as i go to stop. Servo, actuator?

I have taken to mechanic- no codes, all reads well. have changed fuel filter, checked fuel pump, spark plugs, battery fairly new. after it rains, it cranks-engine shakes-wants to start but wont. Almost like gas or ignition will not kick in. if sunny, ok- This only happens after it rains..

Why will my 98 Jimmy not shift into 3rd, or 4th gear? It is an automatic 4L60E transmission. It all started on a trip to Gatlinburg, TN. It felt like it was slipping when shifting into 3rd, intermittently for several months before finally failing completely to shift into these gears. What is going on here?

My husband recently bought a used '99 GMC Jimmy 4x4. Recently he has discovered that there is a problem cranking it. If the temperature dips below 40-45 degrees or if it is humid the Jimmy won't start. When the key is turned you can hear the starter trying to start it. It acts like a carborated vehicle flooding out. You can smell gas and if the hood is popped, and the air filter is removed you can see gas smoke coming out of the air filter location. This only happens when it won't crank. On warm or clear days, it cranks just fine and there is no gas smell or hesitation.

I have a 2001 GMC Jimmy and I am having an issue with the blower motor. Speeds 1 and 2 do not seem to work. Speeds 3 and 4 work fine. This is the manual climate control not the automatic. I searched and it seems everyone usually has a problem with the high speeds & not the low speeds...

I have a 1998 Jimmy 4x4 sls. The problem I have is at 2000 rpm the battery light comes on starts dipping bad alt shuts off and it drops from 14.2 to 12.2. After you release the throttle its starts charging again below 1500 rpms. It has done this with a stock alternator and a 190 amp alternator rebuilt alt. Two different batterys two batterys hooked up at once or indivisually. I pulled the duralast battery looking for grounding issues. I found a severed ground off the three factory grounds. I stripped it replised it then the engine warmed up again the same thing. It has one orange wire going to the regulator ared 10 gauge to the battery.

I picked up a 98 jimmy for my son and turns out it has many issues! The one I'm tackling now is the 4wd. Front wheels don't engage "unless you can't tell on these on dry pavement just to test it, but I don't feel it "crab walking" when turning.
Things I've done so far ..... New transfer case vacuum switch, replaced any tore vac lines "I had Hvac issue which is corrected now that I've done this" replaced cable to actuator under battery. It's a 3 button switch and lights appropriately when selecting 4hi or 4lo.
I can hear it engage and disengage and also hear the tccm click when I push the buttons. The cable pulls the actuator and the actuator moves and holds as it should which leads me to believe everything is working but why aren't the front wheels engaging??

i have a 98 gmc jimmy and the 2 wheel and 4 wheel hi light flicker back and forth. it doesnt do it all the time but is getting more frequent. Is this something to worry about?

the brake warning light ( on the dash ) is randomly going on and off, even at driving speeds. have had it looked at but no problems could be found. the brakes are fine ,couldn't find any wiring problems. some days it won't even come on at all ,and some days it does with no particular pattern.

Well this just started a couple of days ago and has gotten worse would start just fine and idle fine put in gear and I have little to no throttle if you give it to much would stall out but would start right up now it s hard as can be to start like 15-20 minutes to start others starting fluid and will idle great but same thing go to drive little to no throttle I can hear fuel pump priming it was changed over summer as filter and have replaced so many parts ...

I have a 2000 Jimmy and it just won't start. All lights come on and horn works. No crank when I turn the key. I had this problem before and the problem was a bad starter relay. I replaced the relay. The vehicle started up fine and ran fine for a few days. I went to start it this morning and it wouldn't. Battery is good, changed the plugs, wires, starter, cap and rotor within the last 8 months. Someone made a reference to my security system. Are there known electrical problems/interference between security system and other systems?

My father tried to jump start my 1994 GMC Jimmy and it began smoking at the jumper cables and battery. We removed the cables. The battery was completely dead. So we went to get a new battery. Now the car has no power whatsoever. No lights, and will not even attempt to turn over. I was told that the car may be dead, for good. That perhaps the electrical is fried. Is there anything I can check to see if this is not the case. Do I need to check the alternator, or change the fusable link?

I recently took my truck to the mechanic for a bad transmission leak, they told me they had to replace the Oil Cooler Lines (upper and lower) and that they did a transmission service (flushed out the transmission), the leak is fixed, but as soon as I started driving, I noticed that the acceleration is very sluggish from a full stop, I can floor the pedal and there is no difference, once I get going it seems fine (though a bit high on RPM's but not much). I also noticed some of that liquid sealant residue droplets on my windshield, similar to the type of sealant an AC place did for me to seal an AC leak, not sure if that has anything to do with this.
