Our Jeep Cerokee windshield wipers do not close down. They run but do not go to the close position. Is their a simple solution, or do we have to replace the wiper motor?
View 1 RepliesMy jeep seems to be making a ticking noise in the back windshield. I notice it when I've been driving it for a while or on hot days. Once it starts I'll continue to hear it even though the car is turned off. Is it the glass? The seal around the windshield? How is something like this fixed.
View 2 RepliesI have a 95 jeep Cherokee and have lost all power to my radio, heater, wipers and turn signals, i have checked all fuses and replace a relay i thought may have been bad, I have yet to find any inline fuses that may cause the issue.
View 1 RepliesMy front windshield wipers seem to have gone kaput. I went to clean the windshield yesterday, and while the fluid shot out freely, the wipers didn't move. I tried intermittent, frequent, etc, and nothing got them to move. The back wiper works fine. I restarted the car, checked to make sure that nothing was blocking movement, and still no movement.
Which fuse controls the wipers? Before I head to the dealer (it's been 5 weeks since my last visit), I'd like to see if a blown fuse is the cause of the problem.
2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo 4WD, 6 cylinder car is in Tallahassee, florida and when the temperature is warm outside in the spring and summer and the car has been driven for awhile and is stopped (like for shopping) and you try to start it again, it will not start. However if you wait for awhile like 20-45 minutes the car will start but will rough idle for a little while and then it will smooth out and go ok. This appears to be random and does not happen in the fall and winter months.
View 1 RepliesMy 2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee (Special Edition) has been stalling on me for a couple months now. After 2 different shops I decided to take to the dealership after stalling on freeway. They had my car 2 weeks before they got it to stall and advised I replace the CAM and Crank sensor before replacing the PCM (main computer).The Crank sensor was replaced at the first shop, they said part had noted issues if after market. I had them replace the CAM sensor and am taking back to first shop to warranty the part and asked they use a factory part. My concern is it will continue to stall and the next step is to replace the PCM.
View 2 RepliesWife said the front windshield wipers were noisy, after a bothersome back-and-forth, she finally indicated they were "chattering." Hindsight, it would have been better for me to just drive it and see for myself.
Anyway, bought new blades (not just the refills) and installed them last night. Learning from my mistakes, I drove the car operated the wipers and now there is a horrible squeak. BUT:
It seems as if it is coming from the area of the actual wiper assembly and not from the wiper -- you know from underneath the black plastic cap that covers the end of the passenger side wiper -- pix below.
Anyway, before I get into to this....I assume I can pry off the black plastic cap, but is there any "user serviceable parts" under there that might be causing this noise?
Okay, to start i've disconnected my rain sensor so i do not have auto wipers, instead the wipers are intermittent when in the first, AUTO, position. with that being said....
When I was driving and had the LOW wiper position selected (not AUTO) and the wiper speed dial set to (-) , when the car comes to a stop or is parked, the LOW wipers switch to intermittent where they will pause in the (-) dial setting, for about 2.5 seconds. if the dial is set to (+) you do not notice this happening as the wipers re-engage too quickly. and then once you start moving again, the wipers return to the LOW setting and run continuously.
Does it also happen when your rain sensor still works? My guess is it's a luxury function so when you are nto moving, less rain hits the water, and you don't have to deal with wipers on a drier windshield making the low squeegee noise.
I have a 2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee with about 105,000 miles. The transmission (or transfer case) recently started to make a clicking sound. It usually happens in 2 wheel drive mode and gets louder as the car warms up. the clicking sound occurs in all gears except park. It also gets faster with car speed. If the car is put into 4 wheel (full time) mode the sound seems to go away or is not as audible. When you shift back in 2 wheel drive mode the clicking sound comes back.
View 1 RepliesMy 03 GX470 has an issue where the windshield wipers will randomly stop working. It doesn't matter what setting they are on, auto, low, high, they work fine for a few minutes, then just stop mid stroke. They sometimes start back again on their own after a minute or so, but usually, I have to turn the switch to other settings a few times, to get it going again. Inevitably though, the wipers only work for a few minutes more, before stopping again. What could be causing this?

View 3 Replies2000 Jeep Cherokee Sport: Sometimes the directionals shut off after a few blinks and sometimes they don't work at all. I think I identified the area where the blinker noise comes from. It is to the left underneath the steering wheel column.

View 9 RepliesI have had no problems out of my jeep except my check engine light came on and it was a bad 02 Sensor and I was told I didn't need to replace it. Well I was driving down the highway and all of a sudden my jeep died. The radio cut off my air and I put it in neutral and I tried to start it and it would not crank. I coasted in a drive way and it cranked and them died. Now it acts like it wants to start but it wont. Replaced the fuel filter. I am getting fuel to the fuel rail. It will not start with starter fluid. I took the crank sensor off and it replaced it and it still wouldn't crank. My fuel pump makes a whinning sound. My lights come on..My windshield wipers won't. My radio doesn't work and the inside lights well I couldn't get them to go off before I before my vehicle died on me, about 3 weeks before I just took the bulbs out. Would the 02 sensor make it not start?

View 8 RepliesI live on a boat access only island, so desperate. This jeep has over 230,000 km on it. Runs well, but this year started this thing where it won't start first time crank, but always starts second or third go. Bought new battery last year, so doesn't seem to be that kind of issue.

View 1 RepliesJust bought a 1996 Jeep Cherokee Sport 4.0 Auto trans. The other morning my jeep wouldn't start. Power everything works, lights work, back up lights work. Starter had been sluggish so I had it tested. Tested fine. Hook the starter back up and when I attach battery it turns over and runs constantly.
I removed the ignition wire from the starter solenoid and hooked it back up and the same thing happened. So I deduced the starter solenoid was stuck. Bought a new starter and replaced my old. Old starter was tested at autozone and it worked properly there (didn't run without ignition).
I just bought the new starter anyway. Hook up battery and same thing happens--starter turns over. How would just the cable from the battery be able to turn the starter over if it is all good?
'95 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo 4x4 (bought used 3 years ago), The Jeep sometimes dies while we are driving it. Most of the time we can restart it right away, but others it will make the turning over sound and not "catch" & go vroom.
Other times we'll be driving down the freeway (for example) and it will do a little shutter, like it's going to die and if we push on the gas it kinda skips over the dying part.
We thought it was the fuel pump, so my father-in-law took it to a mechanic and he checked it out and said the fuel pump is fine. His assistant drove it around for a while & it never died on the (of course). So he said it was fine and suggested we got some bad fuel and told us to put in some Chevron, but later that night we drove it close to home for 20min & it worked just fine. Ate some dinner at Mom & Dad's then it wouldn't start up again.
We've changed the Fuel Filter, it has a new Radiator, New Brakes and Just got an Oil Change, we filled it up with Regular Chevron and added 'HEAT' (additive to get rid of moisture)... We are at a loss...
My windshield wipers stick to the windshield. It's like turning them on full speed when dry. They drag like hell even in Monsoon like conditions...
What gives? Faulty wipers? Bad arm position?
