Intrepid :: Heater Seems Not Working
Dec 30, 2011
I'm working on a 1994 Dodge Intrepid with a 3.3L engine. The heater isn't working very well at all. I have run water straight through the heater core with a garden hose and it doesn't seem to be clogged up at all. I have also taken the blend air door actuator off and made sure the blend door was set on heat. Also, when the car is warmed up, I can pinch all of the heater hoses off by hand, and I don't feel like there is much, if any coolant flowing through them. The car isn't overheating or anything, so I'm wondering if the water pump could be working but just not pushing enough water through the system to run the heat?

I've got a 99 with manual heater with no heat, a 23 code from the bcm, pulled fuse 19 for 5 minutes, still the same. Also when it was hot and we were running the air the passenger floor was wet. my question is what do I have to take off the dash (and how without breaking) to get to the heater?

I am having a problem with the heater on my 98 2.7 Intrepid. Will not blow hot air when idling (just warm). After several minutes of driving with heat on air temp goes from hot to warm. It might just be me, but it seems like the air flow is cooler coming out of the defrost vents than from the dash/floor vents. Thermostat has been replaced (proper operation verified before installing). Had to replace gooseneck and heater coil supply tubing due to a leaking bleed valve. There appears to be NO air in the system.
Heater core was backflushed, there appears to be no restriction. Hose temp on exit line is approx. 15 deg. cooler than supply line when fan is running. Blend door actuator was replaced last spring (motor shorted). When temp control is moved from hot to cold temp changes drastically and door can be heard moving. On-board ATC diagnostics indicate all is good. Engine is running at normal operating temperature, not overheating or running cold. Is there a cabin filter or inlet supply for the air that could possibly be obstructed? Air flow seems adequate, not restricted. AC works fine.

It takes a LONG time for my heater to warm up... to be expected of an old car. However, once my heater is warmed up enough, it blows cold air when I'm idling at a light or anything. Once I get back up to 35 MPH it goes right back up to its temperature. Then drops again when I stop.

So I believe I have glitch in my blower system. When I have the car and heater on, it comes through, but it feels like the blower isn't working much at all. however, when I but the car in reverse or hit the windshield wiper cleaner, the blower starts doing its job like it should.

So my aux heater stopped working. It may just be a failed glowplug as per the error code but as there is significant corrosion around the controller I thought it best to get hold of a second hand unit, which leads to a couple of questions.
1. Can the glow plug be changed with the heater in situ?
2. What needs to be removed to get the heater out? Is it a big job?
Even my mech says it's easily the most complex car he's worked on, and he's had Ferraris/Porsches etc in before!

The heater on my 2004 Touareg V-8 appears not to be working correctly, although the dealer has said they they "calibrated" it and that that all is well. When the ECONOMY setting is on, as I understand it, I should be receiving external air, heated/vented from the engine whenever the setting of the heater (i.e., inside) temperature is higher than the outside temperature. However, even when there is a difference of 10 or more degrees, I cannot feel any heat coming from the vents.
Tonight, it was around 58 according to the thermometer on the dashboard, and I had the heater set to 70 -- NO HEAT. It required setting it to 74 before I felt anything. When the Economy setting is off -- when the heat is run through the compressor -- I get somewhat better heat, but the principal difference is that it happens more quickly. It still requires a spread of MORE than 10 degrees to get ANY heat. This happens in the winter and on cool nights during other seasons. Why should I have to have the heater dials cranked up to 74 - 78 top get normal heat?

I have a 2012 C 3, with 27K miles. This morning on the way to the store i turned on the heater and the fan turned on and after like 2 mins the blower stop working. All the lights are on, but nothing comes out of the vents under any circumstances. I tried taking of the ECO mode, I tried turning the car on and off. still nothing.
If I bring it to the dealer will they fix it under warranty? Could it be a bad fuse? where is the fuse box? What could it be, its freezing outside and I need heat for the kids in the car.

My seat heater decided to stop working a few days ago when the temp. dropped down to -30deg Celcius. I checked the fuse today and all is well. I couldn't see any loose wires under the seat either. Both seat warmers stopped working at the same time.

Last week, temps. dropped so tried heat on `02 GLX few months out of warranty. took to dealer (concerned with locals and the VW climate control), dealer said clogged heater core, they asked if it had overheated (no), $1500
VW kicked in $500. nice weather when I picked it up, next door cold, turned on heat, but there was none. took it back to dealer, they said it was an air bubble and said they "bled" the system, and viola, had heat in 1/2 hour. Worked fine for couple of hours. Couple of hours later, again no heat.
Any clue? Did the dealer know what they're doing? Did I get ripped? Can others work on the VW climate control or is it related to the actual mechanics of the heater?

I have a 2004 Elantra. The blower for heat/ac not working. I did all of this:
Checked interior fuses, all OK.
Checked 30 amp fuse in engine compartment, put a new one in.
Pulled blower motor out and tested with a 12V power supply: worked fine.
Replaced Blower Relay
Replaced Blower Resistor
all of this and still no blower.
The heater control panel on the dash has 3 knobs. When I turn the first to AC...the light comes on and I hear the AC kick in. 2nd knob is blower fan...nothing on any setting. 3rd knob...hot and cold...not sure since no blower.
I am lost at what to do next.

Ok so this morning it finally got cold here. Around 10F degrees outside. Had a light coat of frost on the truck'just enough to make it hard to see out the windshield. I had the defrost on, fan speed set to high, temp. control set to high. After 20 minutes of driving it still wasn't getting hot in the truck. I had made a clear spot on the windshield so I could see to drive but the rest of it never cleared. Took the cabin of the truck forever to warm up at all. The fan doesn't seem to blow very hard on the highest setting on this truck. Air doesn't get very hot either. What's the issue here? Is this normal for these trucks? You'd think that on a truck that's commonly used in fleets and for work crews that they'd have designed these things with awesome heaters. Dang it's gonna' freeze me to death this winter.

I have a 2007 Camry SE-V6 and recently noticed my heater is not working properly. The fan dial works fine and I can adjust the speed of the fan no problem. When I adjust from the defroster, to the feet, to the face etc.. I don't hear that noise I usually hear of the system opening or closing the appropriate vents in behind the dash - all I hear is the fan blower going - as though it's just blowing on my windshield but no air seems to be coming in any of the vents (ie. if I put the dial to the face and the fan speed on high, no air comes out the vents).
If I adjust the temperature, I can feel heat is there vs. cold but since no air is blowing out (all I hear is the blower fan going), I don't get any heat in the cabin. Is this a fuse problem or something more serious? I have about 70,000km so I'm out warranty of course....

So I own a 04 GLI and for some reason I went to turn my lights on one day and the lighting to my Heater/AC controller light is not working.

So the driver side seat heater won't work, I swapped the switch with the passenger side and it won't work (but the drivers side switch works on the passener side), the fuse is alright. What am I missing?

The issue is intermittent. Sometimes when I turn on the ignition, the DIC does not light up. There is a delay of two to three seconds and then everything on the DIC works and the Service Vehicle Soon (SVS) light comes on. The HVAC console will not work during all of this. Rear defroster and AC button do not work. Day-Time running lights, head lights, high beams, radio, windshield wipers all work. I do feel hot air coming through the vents, but not fan driven. Replaced ignition and computer in July 2011 with GM dealer flashing the computer. New battery December 2012. I have had it in to a mechanic but they were not able to get a code from the computer re: SVS light. Low coolant light now coming on in the AM (cold mornings), but turning off. Checked coolant and it is full.

I just did my winter hard top for the season, hooked up the plug for the rear heater and it works but it's cranking out cold air even when I am up to running temperature. The front heater is blowing lots of heat. Am I missing something? Is there something other than the plug I need to hook up?

I have a 2005 Nissan Sentra with 65k miles. After having the "routine" 60k tune up, my heat stopped working. Not great timing as it is winter. Searching this board and several others, I narrowed it down to a thermostat or a clogged heater core. I have replaced the thermostat, and flushed the heater core. Now, the heater works occasionally. This is way better than it not working but how to make it work all the time. I flushed the core for about 5 minutes. I have heard that you should flush it for longer, but everything was coming out clear and easy after 5 minutes so I assumed it had done the trick.

I have a 2005 Dodge Neon. The heater stopped working. The blower still works so I am pretty sure the fuse is ok, at least I can't find a separate fuse for the heater. All I see is the blower for the AC/Heater. I replaced the Thermostat and watched it working by letting the car heat up and watched the engine heat drop after a bit. Still no warm air out of the heater. I tried flipping between Cold air and hot air and can tell a difference in the sound of the air blowing that SEEMS to indicate that the flap in the Dash is working to go from cold to hot air. I am sort of out of ideas unless the heater itself is hosed.
