I recently noticed that I start hearing some tiny squeaks coming from the suspension somewhere when I get on or off the car, or rock the car from the inside. I have a 2011 with 70k miles, always been a CA car.
View 4 RepliesI've just noticed my Elantra has a squeaking noise in the rear end when going over bumps or by pushing down on the rear of the car. This is less frequent in the cold weather of Wisconsin, but when warmer (for winter weather) the sound is pretty steady. This noise is a sqeak, not a rattle.
I took the car to a local shop and they were able to reproduce the noise, but not find the cause. They stated all the rear end parts are tight and nothing seems to be wrong. They did not want to start replacing parts guessing what the problem might be. They suggested I let the problem go for awhile to see if it gets worse.
My car has 86,000 miles and has been maintained. I have not replaced struts or rear end parts. The only parts needed have been a couple of sets of front end stabilizer link ends.
My 2008 rear suspension creaks and squeaks and groans when I move my horse trailer. Truck has 32k miles, has done since purchase last year, squirted wd 40 and that works. At ford place now, they say it is because I added the ride rite air bags. Told them it made same sound before I installed. What to tell them (tech service bulletins ?) or give up and keep spraying and looking for dry joint?
View 1 RepliesI have a 2012 Ford Supercrew, 6.5 FT bed, Ecoboost that I got in April. About two weeks after I got it, someone ran a two way stop right out in front of me and I hit them on my drivers side front. Damage pretty minimal considering their car was totaled. I had my truck back from the body shop about two weeks later. Everything was great.
About 3 weeks after I had gotten my truck back, I began to notice a strange noise that sounded almost like someone was opening a door really slow. (more of a rapid popping sound than a high pitched squeak) It only happened on acceleration and the sound was coming from the passenger side right up next to the firewall. I figured it was something that wasnt tightened correctly from the body work. I took it to Ford for warranty work and told them this story...they werent concerned about the wreck. They suspected suspension...I agreed this was probable.
They checked and tore down the whole front suspension on the passenger side. They ended up replacing that whole side with brand new parts, new shock, upper lower control arms, new coil, gaskets, etc. Problem was still not fixed.
I took it back to the body shop where it was worked on and had the foreman ride with me so he could listen to noise. He said that he believed it was the suspension as well. He said that most of the bushings that sit on top of the coil come from the factory sort of dry...he suggested breaking it down and putting teflon grease between the bushing and the top of the coil tower that mounts to the frame. He said he has had luck with that.
Long story short, the driver side began doing the same thing. I took it back to Ford and they agreed to try what the body shop foreman had told me. Still no luck!
My front suspension has been replaced and broken completely down three times, tightened back up to factory specs, and re-aligned...and still no fix!
It sounds like a truck with 250,000 miles when I first accelerate, and I can still here it a cruising speeds when I hit bumps (air has to be off to hear it well)...
2004 Santa Fe, 2.4L auto, 133k miles that I just purchased. I've just been getting all of the maintenance up to par before driving it, I noticed the suspension makes a decent amount of noise when going over any kind of bump. The rear end makes a squeaking noise, which I think is from the trailing arm bushings. The trailing arms look like this:
When looking at the bracket where the big bushings goes, it looks like the arm is almost touching the one side instead of being centered like it should be. I'm thinking the bushing is just shot and allowed the arm to be pulled rearward. I know 01-03 had a recall for rusting trailing arms, but that doesn't work with my 04.
Other various creaking noises I'm thinking are coming from the sway bar bushings and links. Control arm bushings still look solid. Might replace the rear shocks if I have to with some KYB's.
I've got a 2006 b6 2.0 with about 92k on it. I bought it Cpo at around 68k 3 years ago this December. My auto tech said I'm going to need a new timing belt in about a month, so once this semester is over in a few weeks I'll be taking it in for that. Anyway, to my questions. My front suspension squeeks quite a bit going over bumps, especially when cold. Is this a sign of bad things to come in the future? Now my brakes, when they get wet they give off a very rough feeling, not very smooth. I have to slam on my brakes to 'wake them up'. Is this telling me they need to be replaced?

I heard the 11 and 12 cars have softer suspensions and they stiffen it up again for the 13s? I'm not planning to track the car much if at all? Stock 11 or 12 springs? Aftermarket?

View 4 RepliesI have noticed an uneven feel ( slightly ) when I turn hard left vs right. Its firmer when I turn to the left than the right. From the magazine issues I used to read when I look at directional skid pad results the right turn skid pad results are always lower than the left turn because of the weight of the driver.

View 9 RepliesI recently got my 09 ISF and had a few questions pertaining to some noises I'm hearing. Of course I'm hearing the ticking from the motor but until it causes any issues I can live with it.. My real questions deal with
A: When I go over a bump such as a pot hole cover or something that makes my suspension articulate quickly at low speed, I hear a rattling noise from what seems like the suspension / hub. If it makes any difference in on 2012 shocks and soft springs. (my extended warranty is kicking in soon so I hope that it doesn't play a roll in it as I'm sure they will be quick to deny it)
B: When I am coming to a stop or slowing down and the car shifts into first on its own (I think only in manual mode) there is a clunk / slight jerk sometimes... It may be coming from the rear end? Is it some type of locking or unlocking that's going on?
I have a 2015 3IS which has about 5,000kms on it. Was wondering if any of you experience rattles/squeaks from driver's door glass when closed? Usually comes out on uneven roads or after going through a road where the chassis/body gets twisted a bit. I live in the mountains so the roads here are really twisty and has all those weird angles.
View 14 Replies2012 f150 5.0 liter....Every morning when I leave for work I back out of my drive way and when I push in the breaks they are super squeaky. When I got my tires rotated the dealer said breaks were fine. I noticed my neighbors f150 Eco boost does the same things but not as loud. When the breaks are warm it doesn't do it. Can this be prevented it wakes up my parents in the morning.
View 8 RepliesMy Passat seems happy enough. Been over a year since I've had a problem. Not even a CEL. My dilema is do I take this into the dealer for warranty work or best leave well enough alone.
For kicks I did a Vag COm scan the other day (last one was a year ago and I cleared the codes ) and I have a handful of intermittent codes again. Mostly the same. Cleared again, rescanned in a week and only one came back. They are mostly Central Convenience / HVAC codes. The one that came back was one of 2 codes for positioning motors in the HVAC.
I know digging into dash stuff isn't fun. Creaks and squeaks and demons come out if the the tech isn't careful in what he does. I'm not noting any issues at all.
Having squeaks coming from their window seal between the glass and the seal? I mean, it can get really bad... I have to roll my windows down a touch and then it's a smooth, quiet ride. I was going to try and drag a small amount of some kind of lube around the seal soon.
View 1 RepliesI am having problems with squeaks and other noises from the dash. The dealer sprayed some foam on the dash board (underside of it) to quiet the noises. It didn't work. The repair order says he sprayed the air bag cover. I'm not an expert on air bags but would this effect the function of the bag?
View 7 RepliesI have been experiencing some unwanted noises coming from the rear of my SF. I finally had the opportunity to ride in the back seat while someone else drove. I was able to determine that one rattle/squeak was coming from the styrofoam pieces in the storage area. I pushed the entire set as far to the rear as possible. Even though they only moved a fraction of an inch, the noise stopped.
Another noise is coming from the seat backs. Specifically, the seams where each seat back touches each other. They create a squeeking noise as the seat backs vibrate. I can make it stop by folding the middle section down, and therefore it doesn't touch the seat back on either side. I'd like to not have that be my solution though. I'm thinking some lubrication, such as silicon spray, on the surfaces that touch each other would stop it. I have no clue what silicone spray would do to leather in the long term though.
I have swapped out my 2008 Headlights for 2012 LED ones. However, the LED strip is not coming on. I followed the below thread and grounded that green wire as shown, and ran the red wire to the ig2 fuse box on the drivers side and nothing. i also tested it from the battery and nothing as well.
View 14 RepliesI have a 09 ISF and at times it seems like there is a squeaking noise coming from the cluster. Is this common and whats the fix. I know there was a TSB with the 350s about the felt on the clips from the dash but I haven't seen anything with the ISF.
View 13 RepliesSo earlier today i noticed this unusual noise coming from the engine bay. You cannot hear it if your sitting inside the car. Only time you can hear it is if the car is running and you happen to be standing in front of the car.
The noise isn't constant and tends to come and go. After about 6 plus tries trying to film it, I finally got a clip where you can hear it for a bit.

I noticed my sound a few weeks ago but wasn't as loud as the videos I've seen. Didn't really bother me. I did notice today that the sound was a lot louder . The only thing that has changed is i had my oil changed over the weekend with mobil 1 5w-30 fully synthetic. Now I don't know if that could factor into the sound getting louder.
I am really hoping its just a cat and i can replace my headers and everything is good. i just got the car with 19k miles on it and do not have a warranty.
I have been worrying about "engine noises" for years and at this point if its something i can't fix without dumping thousands of dollars into it, then so be it. I am just going to enjoy the car too the fullest. Plus, once i get full exhaust, it will work with canceling out the ticking sound.
