When going over large bumps and dips I'm hearing a very high pitched squeaking noise coming from the rear end. Over small bumps I hear nothing, it's only the large bumps where I hear the squeak.
View 4 RepliesMy question today has to deal with my squeaking car. Only mods I have done to my suspension would be Lowered on Progress springs and added there rear sway bar. After about a year my car started to squeak when going over speed bumps or certain dips BUT ONLY THE REAR. I have tracked the problem down to my rear sway bar. What is the fix for this? Ive read in other forums (mainly civic teggys etc) that the bushing might be worn? What is my recommended next step?

View 14 RepliesI have an 04 rx 330 with air suspension. The swaybar end links have just been replaced on the front and a rattling noise persists.
The noise happens over large and small bumps at high and low speeds at normal and low vehicle height. When the height is at "HI" the noise is louder and it feels as though the front end is shaking loose over bumps at 10 km/h+.
I took it in and was advised to replace the end links, they did so and returned it claiming the noise was gone. The air compressor and struts are in working condition.
I have done a search through the forum, not extensive... I was wondering which other components come loose/wear and cause a clunk/rattle/shudder noise.
Also, tires are new and at approx. 32-34 psi.
My suspension has been creaking even when I get in the car. I'm not even that heavy (about 150 lbs). The ride feels the same as it has before, but I also notice squeaking when going over bumps. This mainly happens in the rear shocks. How to fix it?

See the attached videos. The first one (night time) was made before I took the car to the dealer the first time. Dealer said that I was going too fast over the speed bumps, so I made another video (daytime) showing the speed (10-13 mph). Both times you can hear a squeaking noise coming from the front that I just started hearing last week. The car has only 23,000 miles on it. I bought it brand new back in September of 2010. I don't know what to do because the dealer (of course) says that they checked everything and there is nothing wrong with the car.
What was the cause of it. I can take it to a mechanic and check it myself and then bring it to VW for repairs and telling them exactly what's wrong and why.

My car's rear suspension bushes are getting torn and are making squeaking noise in bumps. I am able to get bush for trailing arm and stabiliser bar. My dealer says that i have to replace the whole knuckle assembly as the bush for that part are not available separately. Is this true or the dealer is trying to earn some quick bucks?

View 82 RepliesI've had a clinking sound at the front of my car when driving over sharp bumps like seams or cracks ever since about 6k miles. I only notice it with the windows down. I used to think that it was the coils on my Nuespeed sport springs hitting each other, but after I got coilovers and the noise didn't change I was sure that it wasn't the springs. When talking to my mechanic on the phone he suggested that I see if the problem goes away if I apply the brakes when driving over something that causes the noise, and sure enough the noise isn't there when braking.

Started around 3K [advised dealer and got it into computer] now at 18K more frequent and pronounced. Annoying and slightly embarrassing - had Hyundai-owning friends in car yesterday - their Santa Fe is very quiet.
View 14 RepliesI've got an '12 F-150 with 7k mi. on it. It developed a squeak/creak noise about 1k. mi. ago. It comes from the r. front suspension area and I noticed it one morning leaving from work. It occurs under suspension loading/unloading and it only happens during cold and dry conditions. It won't make the noise when it's wet or damp outside. I've had it at the local dealer 2 times now and they can't seem to locate it. It sounds like rubber on metal or when the 97 & 98's had the dry tie rod ends or ball joints problem. They are reluctant to throw parts at it to try and eliminate it and I agree with them. What were the findings?
View 5 RepliesThe front end of my 2013 Elantra GLS "Creaks" when I go over large bumps especially when the tires/springs extend - like when you go over a smooth rut in the road or if I make a sharp turn and the weight of the car shits to one side. Of course it doesn't happen all the time so that's the perfect excuse for the dealer to look the other way. I haven't taken it there yet because I know if I don't point them in the right direction it'll take 4 times as long to remedy the problem.
Anyway, temperature doesn't seem to affect as much but in the mornings when it's colder it's slightly more noticeable. I've tried to record the sound but that's easier said then done. I've push down on the front end to see if I could reproduce the sound but it doesn't happen when the shocks are compressed but rather when the spring extends. The creaking sounds like when you walk on a old wooden floor or opening an old door kinda thing. What it could be?

Noise is coming from the front suspension. You can hear it at :11 after i come to a stop, then drive over a dip. The dealer has told me it is the front struts. It's the 2nd time I've taken it to the dealership, the first time they could not replicate the noise so i am surprised the technician was able to hear it this time, and I don't want to spend money on strut replacement if it isn't the cause.
I have a 2002 accord 4-cyl with a 5-speed with 89,xxx miles. Just a few months ago, I noticed a clunking sound coming from the front suspension when I go over certain bumps. "Certain" bumps are usually wavy pavement or dips (not wide dips, but short/concise ones), and sometimes certain speed bumps. Sometimes the sound happens regardless of the types of bumps though, but the aforementioned ones usually bring the noise quite consistently. The sound hasn't really gotten worse, but it hasn't been getting better either.
A while back when I had my timing belt done, the mechanic stated that one (or more) of my engine mounts were worn. Is it possible one or more of my engine mounts is the source of this issue (from the engine "rattling" around in the compartment. I'm not sure if that's even possible, just a hypothesis) or is it purely suspension. PS. The sound isn't quite a sharp metal on metal sound. Its more of a "thump" or "clunk" coming from the front end (left or right) as if its bottoming out or a bushing or spacer has worn off. Its just loud enough to drive me crazy, and sometimes I can feel it through the floor.
I installed H&R lowering springs this weekend and now the suspension is making quite a bit of noise. I've double and triple checked the installation, and this isn't my first rodeo, so I don't think anything is improperly installed.
I'm hearing popping/banging over large bumps. I do believe that the noise is most noticeable when my tires drop off into a pothole and the suspension is unloaded. I think the noise is caused by the suspension being uncompressed and then the coils of the springs either hitting themselves or hitting the top hat.
Experienced excessive noise with the H&R springs? I think my next course of action is to get some spring isolators and see if that stops the noise.
So I've got some creaking going on at low speeds only over small bumps. Sounds like it's coming from the passenger rear area. It's an 08 with just under 28k miles. I'm not noticing any issue indicating the strut being blown, it's just an annoying creaking. I didn't realize how noticeable it was outside the car until driving through a parking garage with the windows down on Friday.

View 14 RepliesMy wife and I bought a 2014 Elantra with 30,000 miles on it. This is our first Hyundai and the car runs great, but the only issue I have is that whenever I go over a large bump in the road, the front suspension clunks and feels like it's coming apart. Smaller bumps or imperfections in the road are okay and the car runs smoothly over those, but the larger bumps and potholes produce an unreassuring clunk.
We've never owned a Hyundai before and we really like the car, but I was wondering if this is normal for the Elantra and if others experience this. I brought the car to the dealer and they checked everything out. They said all was fine and that it was normal. Is it?
I have a 09 ISF and at times it seems like there is a squeaking noise coming from the cluster. Is this common and whats the fix. I know there was a TSB with the 350s about the felt on the clips from the dash but I haven't seen anything with the ISF.
