This is the msg I get from my 2007 civic hybrid, "Please check gas cap".
I checked the gas cap and it is as tight as can be. The car was working fine this morning (I use that word loosely, it's a POS), and then after I get off of work, the message shows up. I'm at a quarter tank right now, so I'll fill up tomorrow.
I was driving my plug-in yesterday on the freeway and suddenly it alerted me the following:
Check Hybrid System
Stop the vehicle in a safe place
I pulled over to the side and tried to reset the message (push power button 3x), but message still was coming up. With my Toyota dealership not too far away, decided to bring in my car to have it checked out.
After 2 hours with their hybrid tech, they were not able to replicate the message (of course, always the case), but the tech was able to catch a P0C3E error from their diag tool. Being that they could not replicate the issue, they released my car and started to bring it back it the issue persist.
Went to start the car up this morning - foot on brake and pressed the Power button. The car went through its checks but when it finished the 'Welcome to Prius' graphic it did a continuous beeep and displayed 'Check Hybrid System' and didn't start.
I turned it off and tried again and on the third or fourth attempt the car eventually fired up, the error message was gone and there were no warning lights on the dash. The car did smell like it was running rich though.
I turned it off and called the dealers. They said if no warning lights are now on it should be ok to drive the 6 miles to see them and they'll check it on their computer. As I drove to see them the car was running OK but the fuel economy was shocking. I was getting about 40 mpg UK (30 US mpg) as a trip average.
Is it true, to move a Honda hybrid one foot, you have to turn the engine on, or the engine will come on, then you can move?

The goal is to prolong the HV battery and it is making owners worry about loosing some MPG. How deep Honda BMS allow the battery to discharge (before and after update)?

View 2 RepliesOnce I reach highway speeds on cruise control, I would feel my car to start slowing down, then a second or two later the car jerks and starts accelerating again. A few times I beat it to the punch and pressed the clutch pedal. The RPMs just dropped and the car died. This happens ONLY after a quarter tank of gas is left. I get no lights, No check engine; nothing... Where should I start looking. BTW I have a 2002 Jetta GLI VR6 24V.
View 24 RepliesI just picked up a gen II prius last week. it came with 70k miles and almost a full tank, i think 2 'pips' were gone. since I got my car I've driven a total of 135 miles and already my fuel level went down to 2 pips.
I needed to fill up my tank, so on my way home today I went to a gas station filled up with 87 octane fuel. The fuel pump automatically stopped after about 5 gallons. I had less than a quarter tank, therefore my car should not be full with 5 gallons, according to the manual the tank is just shy of 12 gal. I know my prius has the shrinking bladder or whatever since its a g II, but this is a little extreme. According to my car, I've been getting an average of 35 mpg.
Yeah i have a 2005 mecury montego all wheel drive car. In the last year, sometimes the gas gauge will drop from a quarter tank to nothing sometimes on a sharp right turn. Once I have ran out of gas because the message says i have for instance, 30 miles to empty. So my fiance got the book that came with car and there was actual reset instructions which he did. But it didnt work. Called my dealership and the mechanic said he had never heard of this, although its in the car manual. so whats your thoughts on this strange behavior? Or is because i am a true nascar fan and always want to go left.....

About a year ago I ran out of gas on a hill, this is when my strange problem started. Since then I have ran out of gas at least two other times, but both times the tank was between 1/4 and 1/2 on the gauge and only took 8-10 gallons to fill up, so the tank was far from empty! Both times. after I put a gallon or two in, the truck started right up and ran fine. I have gone long trips and ran the tank down to near empty (light on not really empty) and the truck had no problems. But every now and then between 1/4 and 1/2 it just dies and will not start until I put a gallon or two in the tank.
So today, at about a half a tank, the truck dies. I call for the tow service and when the tow truck driver gets there I explain what has been going on. He jumps in the drivers seat and works his magic on the ignition. I don't know exactly what he did but he turned the key to on for like 10 seconds, removed the key, put it back in, turned it to AC.... and so on, obviously ran a clear code or something.... then he turns it over and it fires right up, this is without adding any fuel!
He said that there may have been an air bubble in the line when I ran out of gas before and the computer code needed to be cleared. Is the tow truck guy right? am i in the clear here or do i need to started checking fuel pressure, pumps, filters and so on?
I got this message on the information display when I turned off the car after an hour of drive. I'm guessing it refers to the key getting low on battery but why only after 2 months.
View 7 RepliesI've had the Dension Ice Link plus for my iPod for about a year and a half and it has worked flawlessly. Two days ago, though, the radio now reads that there is "no CD player" when I try to use it. I called Dension support and after a few other diagnostic procedures, the tech asks me to reset the radio by pulling the fuse. I wait a couple minutes with the fuse out and every single wire detached from the radio. When I reconnect, the radio is not reset. So I try again, this time for over 1/2 hour; still no reset.
View 8 RepliesI went to the dealership today with my '05 displaying a master light ( big red triangle) and "problem " posted on the screen with the green "hybrid system problem" box displaying.
The Prius guy had the car plugged into the computer for over 3 hours. It spat out a page and a half of codes, and then after a time distilled the codes to 4 things: a bad hybrid fan motor, the relay, a blower motor controller, and a bad aux battery. The problem is I replaced the aux battery a year ago. So it makes me doubt the entire diagnosis.
Sometimes when I startup I get the message "Air Conditioner Off". This has only been happening for the past few weeks and never before. I wonder why now and not before. Have 22,600 miles.

View 13 RepliesThis morning I switched my radio from my favorite FM news station to Siriusxm in the middle of my commute, and I got the message "Initializing" on the screen. I was getting the last station I had selected, but I couldn't turn the volume up or switch stations. FM/AM/Media all work just fine. I turned the radio off, turned the car off, no luck.
View 6 RepliesWhen I park my car and shift the selector into "P" the car will not allow me to remove the key until I jiggle the selector. I get a "please shift the selector into P"
After it's jiggled it unlocks, and I can then remove the key. I would prefer to fix it myself, rather than take it to the dealership.
My Samsung Galaxy s4 works sporadically with my Bluetooth in my 2013 Elantra Limited. At times it says"device not available " when Bluetooth is turned on my phone. Sometimes it says "contacts are not downloaded & phone not connected ". Other times it works fine. When I told service, they said it's working fine. I get the car home & it's not working fine.

View 7 RepliesJust had this error come up in the MFD sat nite. Steering column locked up, had to pull key out and re-start. Everything was fine after that. I did have the same error about 2 years ago when I first bought it. Should I bring it up to the dealer, or just forget about it since it hadn't come back.
