My APR dealer is double checking on this. Got an APR Stage 1 tune today and am now periodically noticing a whistling/slight rattle when I punch the accelerator. Only appears to happen when I build revs quickly. Never heard anything like this before the Tune.
View 24 Replies4601 DBP, just under 35k on it. At idle, i hear a slight whistling almost like squeaking. I took it to my independent tech and he showed me that if he removed the dipstick for a second while idling, the noise stopped, due to lack of vaccuum, so he believes its in the pcv system. I am still under powertrain and obviously federal emissions 8yr 80,000. Go start your R and listen at idle inside the car for a whistle or squeaking noise that seems like its inside the passenger dash.

View 1 RepliesI have a 2001 Honda Odessey with 114K miles. When I step on the accelerator I hear a whistling sound. The sound sounds louder as the RPMs go up. However I don't hear the sound when I take my foot off the gas or when the RPMs are 1,000 or less. What the sound is and what I should do? I had my transmission replaced last year and my wife thinks its related to the transmission.

View 9 RepliesMy car developed an "intermittent" accelerator whistling noise coming thru one of the speakers (I think). The harder you accelerate - the louder the whistle. When idling, it sounds like an open air whirring noise. Of course every time I bring it to the shop - it stops and when I hear it it's never convenient to get to the shop!
View 4 RepliesNew R32 owner here. TR with 45k miles purchased 11/12. Lovin it thus far minus a few quirks. One that is pretty significant - when I was in a drive through the other day, close to a wall w/ window down, going from window 1 to 2, lifted my foot off the break and let the trans engage w/o hitting the gas. This produced a slight but noticeable click/rattle noise from what seemed to be the middle of the car. Once i left, couldn't duplicate the noise until pulling into the garage when I was stop/going again without using the gas. The tranny is covered for another 15k or so, so want to get it checked out before that, just wondering what in the world it could be.
View 7 RepliesSo I'm approaching my first service interval and I'm wanting the dealer to check out a few minor issues I've been having with my GTI. Namely, a squeaky sunroof when it's cold out, slight vent fan rattle, and the occasional "fish bite" from the engine. I've already talked to the dealer and told them of the issues and they seemed reluctant to give me a loaner if the car takes longer than a day.

Pretty much since the first day I noticed a slight rattle coming from the middle or right side of the dash/engine bay, only under acceleration (I'm assuming under boost). You need all the windows up and radio off to hear it, but it is definitely there 8/10 times I push the gas. I know others have talked about the fuel line rattle, are the symptoms the same?

View 1 RepliesI've noticed that potentially my heat shield or whatever guard that is 1 step toward the front of the car from where the inlet pipe connects to the exhaust system may be the reason for my rattle at 2k and 3k rpms. i think its a heat shield but I am not sure. the thing is it seems properly mounted, nothing is cracked/broken/or loose. But when I do try and wiggle it it does make a slight creaking noise that sounds similar to the rattle I get. So I could foresee this as being my issue.
But, is there anyway to fix this rattle w/out just taking off the part? i figure its there for a reason and it looks like its held on in 2 places. But they're not nuts they almost look like spot welds or something. 1 on each side. What to do?

I own a 2006 Mazda 6i. I set out to replace my front brake pads and rotors last week. I was unable to jolt free the rotor screws, so I just replaced the brake pads. Last night I borrowed an impact drill and was able to get the rotor screws free on the one, but had to drill out the screws on the other. I put the new rotors on (one floating). Today, I am hearing a whistling/slight squeaking noise when I hit the brakes. I can also periodically hear a noise from the front right side when I'm driving and not hitting the brakes. I'm not sure if the rotors are whistling because they are brand new or if something may be wrong.
View 7 RepliesI have a 2010 prius with about 245k miles on it. I have recently noticed slight vibrations at speed of 15-20 mph and or when letting off the accelerator. I also noticed it goes away at higher speeds. I don't feel these vibrations when on battery or when coasting down a hill. I did an oil and filter change in March. I am planning on changing the spark plugs soon. What might cause a prius to jerk or vibrate?

View 4 RepliesI have had 2 cars with exactly the same problem. The first was a 1998 Volovo V70XC. And the second is my current 2003 BMW 325Xi - both AWD. When driving say on a freeway at 60 mph and you touch the accelerator to apply power, you get a whining or slight howling sound. As soon as you lift, the sound disappears, but each time you touch the pedal, the sound reappears. It seems to be coming from the driveline toward the mid to rear of the car. As you accelerate to 65-70 or decelerate to 55-50, the phenomenon disappears. What is causing this and how can it be fixed?

If there belt tensioner wobbles like this on a 2azfe? There is a noise as you initially press the accelerator but then disappears. You can hear it in the video. I know there is a tsb on the tensioner but the belt doesn't look like its loosening off.
I have a 2004 F150 4.6L... There is a slight hissing sound under the dash on the drivers side when you lightly press the accelerator and then stops. No matter what speed you are going as soon as you apply the accelerator it hisses then stops. There is also the same hissing , only louder when the engine is cut off. It hisses for about 3 seconds. What could be causing this. It has been idling rough since the hissing started. The check engine light is on and showing P0420 and P0430 codes . The cats were replaced with resonators so I believe that is the reason for the codes.

View 3 RepliesI have a '02 Excursion with a 7.3L PSD, 238,000 miles. When I drive and say stop at a stop sign or light, when I transfer from the brake pedal to the accelorator and initially begin moving, I hear a slight "Thump" in the back. Could it be a sticky rear brake caliper? Bad U-joint? Sloppy ring/pinion gear? Just put AMS oil in the rear diff but have noticed slight shavings on the fill plug magnet.
View 14 RepliesI bought a 2004 F250 super duty 4x4 with the 6.0 a couple weeks ago and have a few questions. Hopefully all of these things are normal, but I thought I would ask you experienced drivers.
1) Occasionally while driving when I lift off the accelerator pedal I can hear a sort of loud rattle under the hood. I assume this is the turbo shutting down? Is that normal?
2) 4x4 and locking hubs... I have the 4x4 hi and low switch on the dash. Do I need to also manually lock the hubs to go into 4x4? After reading the manual it seems like I can just turn the dash switch and they should automatically lock, but I'm not sure. The hubs are not marked, but going by the pictures in the manual I think I know which is "lock" and which position is "auto" or off.
3) Front wheels hop at full turn. I expected wheel hop in 4x4 or with the hubs locked, but even in 2WD with the hubs in the auto position the tires still "hop" or knock a bit at sharp turns. Is this normal?
My 2006 Volvo S60 turbo has about 116K miles and noticed a couple times when I punch the gas to accelerate quickly (like to pass someone on the interstate) that it will make this quick jerky thing (as though I ran over some rumble strips). I normally drive like a grandma so this has only happened a couple times. Today I was on the interstate and decided to test this out and sure enough it would quickly bump-bump-bump before the gas/acceleration kicked in. It never stalled, but now I am paranoid.
Also, it occasionally "feels" like it takes the car longer than normal to start. There is no pattern to this. It will happen first thing in the morning, but I have noticed it more often when I stop to drop my son off and get back in the car. I will crank the key and the RPM dial will shoot up twice really quickly and then be normal.
Maybe you should also know that when I first got the car, I filled it up with gas and started driving and it died. We checked the fuses and the fuel pump fuse had burned out so we changed it and all was right again.
I bought this as a high mileage car (60K) in 2007 and have not done much to it since (air filter, oil, tires, brakes). Yes, that means I have not gotten my transmission fluid changed or any recommended dealer maintenance.
