I just recently bought an R about a month ago. I am having a problem with my brakes. It seems that every time I hit the brakes and come to a complete stop my brakes scream with this annoying squeaky sound ... My car has a little over 800 miles haven't driven hard, or dogged the car just been taking it nice and smooth for a proper break in.
View 20 RepliesI notice the brakes are very grabby right before you come to a complete stop. This seems to occur more when this brakes are cold. Is this typical with the gen 2's? Mine in a 2005 if that makes a difference. So far with 2k miles on the car I'm not a big fan of the brakes, but everything else I love.
View 19 RepliesWhen I come to a slow stop my brakes squeak. I took the car to the dealer and had to prove to them that the brakes actually squeak. I drove around and pulled back to the service area and keep driving and stopping and the brakes squeaked every time. They supposedly replaced the brake pads, however, the brakes still squeak.

However just as I'm about to come to a complete stop the brakes feel like the ABS starts kicking in. I can make it not stop by lightly pumping the brakes but this can't be right. What it could be. I just had CV boot replace if that could have done something.

View 14 RepliesI have a 2011 Honda Civic EX-L sedan with 10,000miles on it. I've noticed that the brakes often make a squeaking noise when I am driving slowly and come to a stop at a stop sign. It seems to happen most often after a cold start (e.g. I notice it in the morning when I start my drive to work and otherwise when I have not been driving around in my car). I took it to the dealership today and they said everything was fine with the brakes; they are in great shape and starting to wear normally. They found nothing wrong and they did not hear the squeaking although I heard it this morning and last night.

View 7 Repliesthe other day i was driving with no music on my GS and i noticed every time i came to a complete stop, the brakes would produce a weird loud knock sound. it was rainning so i thought it would be from that... but then after driving it roughly 5-7miles the sound stopped... then since i noticed it, i hoped on my corolla to see if it had the same thing but no... only on my GS.. is this normal?

I have been pretty happy with my OE pads but I'm wondering if I should use this opportunity to change the pads for some aftermarket bits.

Specifically, I have already complained to the dealer twice about the car pulling to the right and the squeaky brakes. While I know these are minor issues now, I would rather have a VW approved plan of action in hand before the dealer tells me there is nothing they can do about my problems. I realize this may be a futile effort but I like to document things.
View 1 Replies06 Honda CRV - new brakes/rotors - at Firestone....brakes squeak. Firestone replaced them with "new ones" - they squeak. Parts most likely purchased at NAPA. Are they likely a cheaper brand....should I try replacing them with a better grade?

View 24 RepliesMy brakes will not stop squealing and it is driving me nuts. I have the stock pads / rotors with 12k miles and three track days. To try and get ride of the noise I have:
- pulled wheels and cleaned all dust from wheels and calipers
- I have the TyrolSport caliper stiffening kit and pulled and greased front bolts
- re-bed in the pads and rotors
- when I had the wheels off and working on caliper bolts the pads looked like there was plenty of material left
I know people have complained about stock setup making noise in cold weather, but that cannot be the case here. It lonely happens at low speeds. What am I missing to get rid of the noise?
