My Golf R is at 40,000 miles, and I am hearing some squeaking/screeching noises when braking. thinking I need my brake pads replaced. At that mileage and with hard driving/braking, should I replace my front and rear pads?

View 2 RepliesI've got a 1996 BMW 328i manual. It has 175k miles. I purchased the car about a year ago. Several weeks ago, I began hearing a screeching noise when shifting when the car is cold. The screeching happens when you let the clutch out when going into gear. It happens much more frequently when very little throttle is used. If you shift it harder, it is less likely to make the noise. If it starts making the noise, you have to shift several times for it to go away. It'll still make the noise while in gear at that point. When the car is driven for about 10 minutes, it never makes the noise afterward, until the car cools down completely overnight. The clutch does not appear to be slipping at all, and once a gear is engaged, it does not have any issues staying in gear. What is my car's issue?
View 1 RepliesI own a 2008 Hyundai Elantra SLX manual which has made about 30000 km. I had no trouble with my car until recently. I hear a squeaking/screeching noise from the engine when it is on and the noise disappears when the clutch is touched or slightly pressed. The noise level goes up when the car is in motion and it increases with the speed. My mechanic thinks the noise is due to some kind metal-metal contact without any lubrication.
View 2 RepliesNot sure if this was already posted but I did a search and nothing came up. I have a HORRIBLE screeching, squeaking noise coming from my back seats. It's like nails on a chalkboard. Anyway, I feel like it's coming from the right passenger back seat, but I don't know the exact spot. It's so bad I have to turn the music up so I can't hear it. It happens especially when I drive over bumps. I folded the seat down and sprayed the metal part with WD-40 where the bottom of the seat connects to the back of the seat, but I don't think this is the problem area.
View 27 RepliesI have a 2001 Subaru legacy outback station wagon that is making a rotational squeeking/screeching noise from a passenger side wheel (haven't determined which one). I hear the noise when I am going slow, below 20 mph, though I can't tell if it is still making the noise at higher speeds. It stops completely when I apply my brakes. The brakes and tires were replaced within the last 3 months, this noise has been occurring for much longer than that.

View 5 RepliesI own an 07 Honda Civic with about 55k miles on it. It hasn't had any issues except in the past few weeks it has been making a squeaking noise when I accelerate. It has gotten worse lately. I haven't notice any difference in the way the car drives (it idles kind of rough, but that's not a big deal).
I usually take the bus, so most times my car sits for a few days at a time. My brother in law said it could be one of the belts on the motor from sitting. He said I should put some Ivory soap or something on the belt to moisturize it.
What could be causing this? Do you think it's worth taking it to get checked out?
I don't have any kids and I just noticed my V8 had child safety windows (will not roll all the way down)... is there a way to make my rear windows roll all the way down? second, any finding on the squeaking noises and rattling noises in the T-reg?
View 7 RepliesMy ford taurus 1995 started squeaking really loudly. I think it is probably a belt and I plan to take it to a mechanic as soon as possible. No one is open on Sundays to look at it and I need to use the car. Would it be safe to use it for a couple days? Someone told me it could be the serpentine belt. Is there any other thing which could cause this noise?

I am recently experiencing some weird squeaking/creaking noises coming from my front suspension.. It manifests whenever I am going over humps faster than usual (or if the humps is not "perfectly sloped"). I seldom experience this during daytime but during nighttime, it is very evident.
this is the list of things that I replaced already:
2x ball joints
2x stabilizer links
2x shock absorbers
2x tie rod
2x rack ends
Did some wheel balancing and wheel alignment already...
I was able to replicate this by parking the car in a slope - parallel to the street with the wheels turned to right or left, and pushing the top fender downwards.
Driving along our streets, highway, and highway curved ramps is flawless.. Could this be bushings on stabilizer bars? or the control arms?
I have a 2006 rx330 with belt squeaking noises on after warming up for say 10 mins on cold mornings, while reaching home I could hear the noises on cold days, the outside temperatures usually 35 to 40 F happens. While driving no noises, only happen on cold days when temperature is above 50 no problem. Should I replace the belts, how many belts are involved ? Tensioner problems ?

Also I would like to know when to replace brake calipers, pads or rotors? I'm pretty sure the Hyundai service center is going to tell me some BS and charge me for extra things.
Clunky, dragging sound from back of Camry, esp. when braking...
I have a 2000 Camry, suddenly made a dragging sound today. It literally sounded like, perhaps a pipe (or something much bigger) was dragging behind the car. I expected to get out and see some part hanging off the back. It then subsided and all that was left was a very heavy, clunky sound, almost grinding when I brake. What this could be?
Any noted 2.0T, B6 experience/solutions for squeaking/creaking suspension noises seeming to originate from shock/strut tower areas? I purchased new in 2009, 37K mi ago. VW dealer service persons think they hear it sometimes. Been chasing this problem for a year or more, mostly notable in cold weather. Condition evident driving on uneven pavement, dips in the road etc. Passengers ask "what is that squeaking".

View 18 RepliesI'm getting "popping" noises when braking from my front, drivers side suspension. Past knowledge tells me it's probably an upper control arm / Tie Rod/Swaybar link problem. Everything is nice and tight in there.
Also getting a violent "thumping" noise/feeling constantly when driving from the same side.
I just dropped it off at the dealer, and they are probably going to come back saying the upper control arm needs to be replaced (we will see).
Today I started noticing a squeaking sound coming from the brake pedal when braking slowly. After I put the car in park and inspected any noises from the outside, I realized that a squeaking noise was also coming from the rear brake drums of the car. It was perfectly find yesterday and this morning it started.
View 3 RepliesWhen I brake, there is almost an exhale sound. It's kind of a squeak, kind of an exhale. We've had it in to the dealer (under warranty) twice, and they said it's not a problem. I remember something about holding the brake pedal and adjusting it to the side.
I have a 2010 Honda Pilot with about 9,000 miles, but I think the radio question was about another car.
While braking at very low spreads (towards the end of a stop), I get squeaking with light pressure braking. Then, yesterday it finally drove me insane. It was a lot louder than normal. Only thing different was that it was alot hotter than usual. It would squeak, as I lift off the brake lightly (while still applying pressure) to inch the car forward in traffic. I had always noticed a faint squeaking, but its now louder than what I grew accustomed to.
The dealership who installed my brakes 9800 miles ago, says there was a glazing, And they can't fix it (polish), because it's drilled rotors.
I have a 1980 Toyota Cressida and I am having problems with the brakes squeaking at almost all speeds while braking. I have two week old pads on the car, when I installed them I generously applied brake quiet to the backs of the pads.
