Golf VI R :: Speaker Won't Have Bass In Cold?
Jan 14, 2013
Let me define cold weather. I'm talking 0˚F and into the negatives, not "I live in Georgia and it was 40˚F last night".
If the car sits outside, let's say overnight during negative temps, when I start the car the speakers don't put out any bass whatsoever. Eventually, as the interior warms up you can hear the speakers come alive and they begin to work as advertised. Is this normal? I guess I don't mind it if it is normal, I've just never experienced this in any other car I've driven. Is this some sort of self-protecting function for the speakers or car's electrical system? Just the speaker material tightening up in the cold?

After getting my passenger speaker replaced for that gurgly, horrible noise that comes out during deep bass notes. it went away. IT HAS COME BACK NOW TEN FOLD! on both sides of my car, and has been happening every morning! it was very upsetting to come back to after being away for two weeks.

I have a 2007 Lexus GS 350 with the Mark Levinson audio system. I am starting to hear a sound from the passenger side door speaker like a rattling when there is low bass in a song. I wanted to know much it should cost me to have all the speakers replaced to higher quality ones.
I don't need crazy bass that will make my windows shatter, however currently these speakers feel like if I put any hip hop or dubstep on more speakers will blow. I do NOT want to have to cut any part of my car to install new speakers, I am not comfortable with someone cutting holes or making bigger holes to fix the new speakers.

This morning I'm heading to work and noticed that my local radio station was broadcasting WAAAAYYYYY too much bass. It sounded like I had turned up the bass all the way and turned everything else down. The volume level was reasonable, but the bass was rattling the doors and causing distortion as if the volume was all the way up.
I changed the station and it seemed better when I came back, so I just thought it was a glitch at the radio station. Then it started again. I tried all other means of playing music and they were all affected. Just to see what would happen, I shut off the engine at a light and started it back up. This seems to have corrected the problem. Now I'm nervous though. This is the sort of random malfunction that made me hesitant to buy German.
My car is a 2011 4dr GTI w/autobahn package.

I started my R up just a few mins ago only to have the bass completely drop out of the stock speakers. The only thing I've added is a passat dynaudio amp, but that was months ago and I don't crank my speakers really loud or anything...
Yesterday they were on volume 09. I've checked the connectors on the amp, and everything seems to be plugged in correctly.

Any good fix for the door panel rattle caused by bass from the stereo? I've had the car to the dealership twice and it hasn't been fixed either time. It's not the door trim it's the actual panel, if you push right below and to the front of the arm rest it stops. Turning the bass down is not an option, if it's not meant to be up that far they shouldn't have made it that way. How hard is the door panel to remove? Also is there a fix for the seatbelt adjuster rattle?

On the way to work this morning in stop-and-go traffic, I noticed a new, weird noise from my week-old 2012 GTI with less than 500 miles on it.
The noise happens when letting of the gas in gear. Doesn't matter what gear you're in or what the engine speed is. Around a second after getting of the gas, there is a loud, depp bass thump, almost like a subwoofer hit from a close-by car. That's what I originally thought it was, but later determined it's something from my car.
What it could be? An exhaust noise? Something hitting? Is this a common noise on the new GTIs?

I've got a 2010 GTI with the stock stereo. When I am using my iPhone via my iPod dock, the sound quality is good until I turn the volume up a bit (loud, but not blasting). Often it's a song that's a little bassier (hence why I'm turning it up), and it seems like after a second or two I can hear the bass levels dropping, almost like it's tuning it down. It also seems like if I mute for a second or two, and then unmute, the bass is back for a few seconds before it ramps down again. The volume levels don't seem like they'd be damaging the speakers, but is this something that it's doing to protect the speakers? Or am I just losing it?

How many are having a problem with the door speakers vibrating when playing music with a fair amount of bass? Both of my door speakers are making noise even when playing music at relatively low volumes with just a moderate amount of bass.
Is there a known fix for this problem? Will my dealer have the parts necessary to fix the problem? I will be due for my first oil change in a couple of weeks and was wondering if I should call and give them a heads up.

My '11 Golf speaker sound has become tinny lately. I don't play high volume music. Really annoying, especially since I have less than 18000 on the car.

The mid range/bass speaker on my driver's door is dead. Do you think it's the speaker itself or the wires going to it?

I need some speaker upgrade recommendations that'll fit into the door cards - specifically the subwoofers - I've replaced an OEM speaker in the driver side once already and it's doing the same thing as before it has a weird vibration/rattle noise with certain freqs. It may very well be the way it's sitting in there but I doubt it.

I bought a 2000 Jetta without a radio in it. I recently purchased a radio from Crutchfield and wired it according to the schematic and connector cross over guide. The radio is on and I can go through its functions but there is no sound. I tried connecting a AAA battery to each of the speakers, via the radio connector, and no sound. I believe this was not a Monsoon system. The connectors on the car do not fit in Monsoon and are Brown, Black, and the third is Blue / Green. What I could do to resolve it?

Yesterday I noticed the rear driver's side speaker buzzing in my GTI S. Is it possible that I already have a blown speaker (I don't usually crank the system)? Maybe it has something to do with the -5 temps? Anyway, should I take it to the dealer or see about getting some aftermarket speakers since the S sound system is pretty mediocre?

I have the bass turned up to the max but there just isn't any. I'm guessing it's broken. What to do to try and diagnose the problem? I don't know much about audio systems unfortunately.

Confirmed it today. Not hearing things. A very low bass like hum when the car goes over 80. Wind noise of transmission binding. What the transmission binding sounds like? Would it happen if the car was just going straight ahead with no turns?

Our Camry has the premium JBL system with the amp under the passenger seat. Any song regardless of source that has a lot of bass drives both rear speakers into distortion. Treble and mid and bass settings are on zero. Even when bass is set on -2 or -3, I still hear significant distortion especially when playing something like Queen, Enya, or with a lot of bass. Problem is there whether Aux input, CD or FM. Someone suggested adjusting gain on amp. How do I do that? And isn't it a stretch to think that would make any difference? Is the amp the most likely source of the problem?

I have a sub in my passat facing the the back of the seats. When i pump up the volume the armrest rattles with the bass, really annoyed at this. Maybe the armrest needs to be opened up and filled with sponge type material. I dont mind loosing the cup holders.

So I have noticed a couple things about my stereo that puzzle me. I have the Dynaudio NAV system w/6 CD changer in the glove box.
1. I had the doors done with Dynamat and it definitely sounds better but the problem is that if I crank it I have to turn the Bass way down otherwise it distorts. Now correct me if I am wrong but shouldn't the amp and speakers be perfectly matched so this doesnt happen.
2. I have the AUX input button on, screen and I can select it but there is no jack in my glove box where all the literature says it is supposed to be. My VW/Audi service manager printed out a build sheet and it doesnt seem to be on there.

Car: 2011 Kia Forte 5 EXMileage: ~35000
My car runs fine on city speeds. I noticed this last week when I get on the highway, in between 60 & 65 MPH, I can hear a "deep" (kind of sounds like added bass) sound. It goes away when I go past 65, but the "driving sound" (no music, no a/c running) just doesn't sound as smooth as it did before I hit the 60-65 range. I get the noise again when I decelerate and pass through that range. My car does not display a Check Engine Light when this happens.
