My shifter when moved into fifth or six makes a squeeking sound. It only does it when you put pressure on the shifter to the full right of travel. I'm pretty sure that it the shifter is rubbing against some trim underneath the boot. I'm taking it in on Friday to have it checked under warranty but wanted to get member's opinion before I went in.

I noticed the other day, while in the rain, if I let off the gas when going slow, when the car does its little jolt forward, I heard a squeak. Gotta be one of the mounts...
Could it have been the rubber got wet and one of the mounts was simply squeaking when it moved? I noticed it when dry but not nearly as much. Guess I should re-check the bolts, but other than the squeak nothing feels different.
It happens when there's side to side movement or any gear change. I've tried spray/grease nothing seems to be working. I've read on other forums people replace everything under the boot only to have it return in a few months. I would really like to have this this squeaking gone. Cars a 2012 GTI

This morning as I pulled into a parking lot shifting into first gear I turn the wheel and heard a squeaky clicking sound that I could slightly feel in the gas pedal. It happened 3 more times when I pulled out of my parking spot and into another lot.
View 7 RepliesI just replaced my front brake pads and rotors. Car had no squeaking sounds before this. When changing the right front pads and rotor, the set screw that holds the rotor in place snapped on me when I tried to remove it. I drilled out the remaining screw and inserted an easy out / screw extractor to try to remove the broken screw. Screw wouldn't turn/budge and eventually the easy out snapped in half while trying to turn it. Here is where I fear I made a little problem into an even bigger one; I tried to remove the broken easy out by banging the back end (smaller end) of it with a hammer and screwdriver, hoping it would pop out from the front of the hub. No success, and continued using a lot of force to try to remove it from the rear part of the hub. Eventually I noticed the hub area by the back of the easy out bent a little from me using force from the rear to remove the easy out. I stopped there, bent the hub section back to original shape (didn't bend too much to begin with) and sawzawed off the protruding end of the easy out from behind.
After driving a few times I started noticing the squeaking sound coming from the front right wheel, the sound sounds like is in tune/harmony with the wheel rotation. As soon I step on the brakes, the sound stops. I had a similar sounding problem with a rear wheel a long time ago and it ended up being that the bearing needed adjustment. I know the front bearings are pressed in so they can't be adjusted. I am thinking the force used to try to remove the broken easy out damaged something with the hub or bearing or maybe the axle nut.
Due to the rain this weekend I decided to clean out my interior and do some maintenance. Lately my driver-side door has been making a squeaking sound. As such, I decided to lube up all the doors just in case. Upon inspecting all the doors/hinges I found that both the driver-side rear door and passenger-side rear door hinge bolts are rusted real bad. These are the bolts that connect the hinge to the door rather than the hinge to the door frame.
I inspected the door for any sign of water intrusion, but could not see anything out of ordinary. Also, nothing else was rusted or appeared to be water damaged. I inspected all the other hinge bolts around the car for comparison and they were fine. It is strange that both rear passenger doors have this issue. I bought the vehicle used and the Carfax comes back clean with no accidents or damage reported.
The only other time I have seen this is when the door has been worked on, and a socket was used which stripped the protective paint off the bolt. Even then only the rough edges of the bolt rusted, and not the entire thing. While I could foresee one door being worked on, I do find it strange that both would have needed work. However, this assumption does not rule out the possibility.
My only other issue of concern which may play into this is the surprising amount of sand I find on the exterior. As good as one can clean a car there are always some places that will never get fully clean. With that said, while the exterior is clean I have found sand residue in little crevices (weep holes) and corners throughout. I am sure that sand and moisture would play a part in causing rust to accumulate, except that no other parts show any sign of rust. This is certainly bizarre to me. I plan on replacing the bolts, but would like to remedy the problem before hand if possible.
Went to leave for work this morning and released the parking brake and she wouldn't budge. Had to give it quite a bit of gas to finally move, along with a big popping sound. It was cold out, and haven't been using the PB in cold weather lately but did yesterday and this happened. Is there something that needs to be done with the brake? Thought I might have to get towed.
View 1 RepliesWhen i first got my MKV R32 it was such a great handling car. I was able to got very fast on curvy roads with not even a slight bit of skid or squeal. Now its developed this rattling and squeaking sound. I feel the bumps in the road more, i notice more body roll, and alot of vibration in the steering wheel, and what pisses me off the most is i hear more squealing on turns that i used to be able to take faster with no squeal. For example i used to b able to take this turn at around 75mph no peel, now i started peeling out at like 63. (my tires have alot of tread) when i got the car it had around 17,000 mi on it now it has 31,000 mi.
View 17 RepliesI am having this issue when crossing a bump at high speed, it only sound when the shocks de-compress and only happening in the mornings so I think it might be the piston rod inside the shocks that is "getting dry" on the night and therefore making the sound in the mourning.
View 3 RepliesSo this car has only 50k miles. It was really cold in the sierra (around 20F) and the car started making a squeaking sound. I assumed it was just belt warming up, but when I opened the hood later, I saw shredded plastic. No CEL's! Seems to run smooth.
Where this came from? Is it part of the serpentine belt system?
Lately I've been getting this loud annoying squeaking sound from my engine bay at idle. It sounds like its coming from the belt. The car has 16k miles so i dont see why the belt would have a problem already.
View 9 RepliesWhen I come to a stop there is a squeaking sound that is difficult to localize. It sounds like a combination of a squeaky rubber bushing and/or squeaky bed springs. The volume is magnified when slowing to a stop in a quiet garage but the best I can do is localize it to "the underside of the car".
View 15 RepliesSo I just installed the Porsche Cayenne 18Z calipers onto my GTI. The install went great but now when I go around corners at speed there's a squeaking sound that comes from the brakes. I tried to epoxy the hub centric ring onto the rotor and grease up the outside of the hub where the rotor sits, but it's still squeaking.
View 4 RepliesSo everything is tight and aligned and all good, but I'm getting this deep squeaking rub noise coming from my front upper strut mounts, but all the bolts are tight, yet it looks like the metal ring inside the strut tower moves a little up and down when you rock the car a bit. And I can feel the rubbing vibration and movement of the mount when I put my hand on/in the strut tower while the car is rocked.
View 1 RepliesI was leaving a parking lot that has an uphill slope leading to a busy road and was going to turn right. There was a car in front of me that was waiting to turn right also. I had trans in D and left the foot on the brake. Car in front moved forward so I pressed the gas pedal and let off the brake. Instead of moving forward I started to roll back as if the car was in neutral.
This freaked me out as there was a car behind me. I braked again and gave the car more gas than before and let off brake again. This time the car jumped forward and I had to brake to avoid the car in front. When the car in front was gone it happened again as I was trying to turn onto main road. It was as if I was driving an MT and was not very good at using the clutch.
I owed an MK 5 GTI for 4 years and never any problems. Apart from this one time, the DSG has been working perfectly.
I bought my R from Carmax about a month ago with about 26K miles on it (and, needless to say, I am in love with the car). However, after a week or two of driving, I noticed a squeaking/rattling sound coming from the front driver's side wheel well area when I let off the brake. It is loud enough for me to hear it with the windows rolled up, and it continues for several seconds at least after I let off the brake (maybe longer, but I can't hear it over the exhaust).
The rattle sort of sounds like it may have something to do with the turning of the wheel, so I thought it might be related to caliper vibration or something (not that I really have any clue. At all.). Anyhow, I took my R to Carmax to have them look at it because it is still under the 30 day warranty, and I figured I would start there before taking it to the local VW dealership. I got a call a few minutes ago from the service guy, who said the following:
"Our technician took a look at your car and determined that the sound is coming from your suspension. However, it is a normal sound and there isn't anything that needs to be fixed."
I argued with him and said that the noise may or may not be immediately harmful to my car, but it is certainly not NORMAL, and something needs to be tightened, lubricated, or replaced. He said he would have his tech look at it again.
Last week my 2011 GTI starting making the most unbearable squeeking sound anytime I drive on a bumpy or rough surface. As far as I can tell, it's coming from the interior and it's coming from the passenger seat. However, it's hard to identify the source while you are simultaneously driving.

What could be causing the noise?
About 3 months ago i lowered my car on FK his sports. There is a popping sound it never happened before. just started now.
When i drive straight and i let go of the gas the car kinda jerks always then the pop sound comes from passenger side.. or when i turn, then drive straight i pops. I'm thinking it might be a bad cv joint or bearings..? or i heard that the FK coils it self-make weird noises.
My FSB is making some clunking noises. Literally sounds like metal on metal banging. Im thinking its the FSB bushings. I just put the bar in about 4-5 months ago, not sure how the bushings could be shot already. The car only makes these noises at low speeds. On the highway i dont hear a thing. I installed the bar myself, so i know there is very little room for play.
View 5 RepliesI recently changed the bushings and installed SS kit. I don't know if this was the case before, but now while in any gear, i can still move it approx half inch to the right and half inch to the left.
I checked everything and all screws are tight. Could it be that the shifter cables need adjustment?
its possible to repair? or only a new one it's the solution? cause my gti 1.8t it's making a sound like tssshhh when i turn the steering wheel. I change the power steering rack.
