Top mount noise? I'm starting to get a rumbling/knocking noise on my front driver's side but only at certain speeds (most noticeable 25-40 mph) and on certain roads. Even smooth ones.
It's definitely not a groan or squeak. It almost sounds like the wheel is rubbing on something but the frequency/pitch doesn't change with speed.
What the defective part could be? GS300 has run 90.000km, sound can be recognized by passing for example gullys or small bumps with speed of ~20km/h. Increasing speed let the sound disappear. I have already replaced stabilizer bar bushes, link assy and lower ball joint assy.

I hear & feel a knocking sound when i brake and come to a stop & when i am accelerating and moving at slower speeds. I had both my front & back brakes replaced in the recent past and the brake oil also changed. I still hear the noise and vibration. This issue get all the more prominent when the roads are wet and its raining.
View 1 RepliesI drive a 2013 4 door gti. Car has 4k miles. Just last weekend myself and my buddies threw my coils in. FK Silverline X plus'. I am not sure on the measurement from fender to ground but I am a finger gap in the front, and fingertips in the rear. After throwing my coils in on saturday, I had an alignment and the rear camber adjusted. Just today, sunday, while driving home I heard a weird clunking/knocking noise. Previously I drove a mk4 and I know the sound of sway bar on axle and this is not the sound. Its coming from the passenger side front.. and I can sort of feel it through my clutch and brake. After pulling the car over I checked everything I could. wheels are all tight, struts seem fine. The noise occurs continuously even on smooth roads. The knocking/popping is pretty loud and can be heard in cabin. My buddy had mentioned the guys the aligned my car might have forgot to tighten something so I am heading back to the shop first thing in the morning.

The noise gets stronger if i accelerate fast and gets faster, faster i go. Surprisingly the noise stops when i lift my car up and starts again at my drive height. Could it be driveshaft joints? And which one more likely? Outer maybe?
View 5 RepliesI've got this bad wobble that occurs when I accelerate its also followed by a rumble coming from the passenger side. A friend sitting in the pass also said she felt it under her feet. I have put in new control arms tie rods and ball joints, but before I put those parts in I had a vibration at around 50-75mph which is the reason I put in new control arms and ball joints. Then Driving after the new CAs In my Jetta was driving a bit more smoother but still small vibration under harder acceleration stress.
After taking a rough turn and minimal beating I now randomly have this pretty bad wobble and rumbling noise from 2nd-5th gear early in rpms, the more stress the Louder and rougher the wobble gets. I plan on getting an alignment this week, my only other thought would be an axle? I replaced my pass side axle less then a year ago because my original one snapped but it was with one from autozone...
I have a 2007 Fit, and just recently started to have my car rumble, specifically the break pedal, when I break. We got new breaks about two years ago. I'm just wondering what it could be. Another thing is I was driving and some (explative) person decided to pull out in front of me when they really shouldn't have. I slammed on my brakes and had a grinding noise and feel to my car when that happened. Since then when I'm driving slow I get a knocking feeling against the foot area of my passenger seat. What could this be? It is kinda hard to look underneath the car since it is so low so we can't easily see by the wheels or Axel area.

I'm hearing a clunking/knocking noise in my Ion that sounds like the front driver side. It's most audible starting about 30 mph. It grows louder as I drive faster and the rate of clunking/knocking is relative to the speed I am driving. It doesn't change when I push in the clutch or when I'm in a different gear. It does not happen when I rev my engine in neutral. I even shut off my car while moving in a parking lot and no change. The sound changes when I turn (sounds like a more muffled/dull sound but still loud if that makes sense), and in my mind it seems to sound worse when I'm turning right than left.
I noticed the noise on Thursday of last week. It was at the point where I had to have my radio off to notice the noise. Since then it has grown louder and as of yesterday is now overpowering my radio when at reasonable volume.
I just replaced both the driver and passenger wheel bearing in the last 18 months, and I just got new Tier-3 Cooper tires 3 months ago. (I wouldn't think the bearing would knock, but just as history fyi.) I was convinced by the troubleshooting guide in my Haynes manual that it was either the inner or outer CV joint so I replaced the whole Driver side CV Axle and topped off the Tranny Fluid with Dexron-III. No dice. I thought there's a chance it could be my new tires, so I Rotated the tires on the left side F->B/B->F as well and the noise did not seem to change. Spinning the tires by hand while up on my jack stands does not seem to tell me anything (I'm guessing I'd have to have them spinning at about 20/30mph to hear anything).
My next idea at this point is to put the front end up on jack stands and have someone put my car in gear and give it a little gas while I stand nearby and try to pinpoint where the sound is coming from. I'm a little leery about this one, and I'm not even sure if it's going to make the noise when not under load anyway.
We've noticed an audible knocking that sounds to be coming from the front drivers side. It only happens at speed (over 30) and doesn't seem to be engine related. I can feel it under my resting foot while driving. I know this is vague but I think it may be enough to get started on figuring this out.
View 14 RepliesSo i have had my r now for a lil under 2 weeks, just noticed a strange noise, seems to be coming from the front drivers side, its a low whine/hum, almost like a pump or small motor is running and is very similar to when you use your wiper fluid. the noise is only present when the engine is cold and typically only does it two to three times while stopped. Just seeing if this is a normal thing, never heard anything like this on my previous vw.

View 4 RepliesMy car was driving fine earlier today. I have been hearing a knocking that sounds like it's coming from the front drivers side for awhile now. I have an appointment to get that checked out tomorrow. However, today I washed my car. I washed it by hand and didn't was the engine or spray the under carriage. About an hour after I washed it I got out on the road and it started violently shaking at about 45mph. Other than that it seems to be running fine. It's not missing or making any strange noises. Why it would start shaking like this? I also need to know if I should be able to drive 100 miles to the shop where it is under warranty?
View 2 RepliesI have an issue that I have yet to figure out. While the car is in motion there is a rumble from what sounds like the front driver side. I've replaced the wheel bearing and CV axle already. The noise seems to have gotten better but its still there. The noise will worsen when turning left and pretty much disappear when turning right.
View 2 RepliesLowered my car yesterday. 23" FTG. I'm now hearing a clicking noise from my drivers side front wheel.. I mostly hear it when my foot is off the gas and I'm just coasting (usually at slower speed). Also, it gets louder (worse) and is accompanied by what sounds like a rubbing when I take turns.. Is it axle bind? Or should I be concerned?
View 1 RepliesA year ago I heard occasional metal grinding noise coming from the front, sounding like front driver side. Sounded like CV joints that I heard before. The mechanic said it's transfer case/transmission problem, so I replaced the transmission but the noise came back a few days later. The mechanic said to drive it for a while and the noise may go away, if getting worse he can fix it since it has 2-year warranty.
Now a year later the noise becomes predicable and easily reproducible, I went back and asked them to check. They said it may be passenger side axle. I am feeling being manipulated.
2005 V8 TREG 74,000 miles ... Just last week.... My T-reg started to hear this knocking noise which seems to come from the engine on the driver side... I would say lifter sound but hoping that's not the issue. I do notice that when i start the car, no noise but when driven on the highway... I hear it especially when i come off the highway. On regular street drives, it takes a while for the noise to come up. I've had the Treg for about a year now and havent had any problems but this. I drive the car during the weekends and sometimes during the week.
View 2 RepliesWhen driving the car on the highway in speeds around 130/140 km I experience after an hour or so a sort of rumbling in the front, possibly right hand side, of the car. It feels like a broken wheel bearing (quick vibration). If I stop the car completely and let it rest for a few minutes I can go driving and the situation occurs again after 20-30 minutes.
The vibration occurs when using the pedal. If driving without pushing the pedal the vibration and the rumbling noise is nearly missing. Strangely the situation is worst while searing towards left.
When driving for several hours without any stops the situation comes and goes. The car does not have any visible signs of any downside of the suspension. I started the car after parking it for two months with external battery supply (both batteries new as of 2013)
On daily short drives the problem has not occurred so far. My guess is a possible leak?

View 1 RepliesI got my Sonata at 27k, its now at 76k and the cars been great although I had the following issues.
I've noticed sometimes when I startup and shift into reverse the car jerks a bit and its not a smooth transition. However other times the car is very fluid in switching gears. Should I take it in to have a look at it?
Also when I am turning onto a unleveled road (usually a higher road), I notice a creaking/knocking noise coming from the front of the car, also notice it when I reverse into a parking space sometimes.

View 3 RepliesI have koni seyup and my car is lowered all the way down all around. my front passenger side sits lower then the driver side.. I also have camber plates in the front. What u think could be the problem.
