View 4 RepliesSo at 19+K I notice the car has tire noise and shakes. Take car in for 20000 mile service and the dealer tells me I have cupped tires. They say the car must be out of alignment to get cupped tires. I think not because the car goes straight down the road. They have nothing to offer in regards to getting new tires free or adjustment on new. I should have pushed hard for a resolution to the problem right then and there but did not. I rack up miles fast so I put up with the problem and at 37000 have the dealer put on new tires and check the alignment. Alignment was in specs but not to complete center. So I have them align the car.
On the way home I notice I still have a shake, felt in the floor and the passenger side head rest shakes back and forth. They rebalance the tires and tell me all fixed. I drive off only to feel the same shake.
I go back and insist on talking with the service manager. Take him for a ride and he can't feel the problem and says all he feels is the normal Prius road roughness. He says if I leave the car they will check it out further the next day. I tell him maybe the reason my first set of tires went bad is due to the shake. Look further than the tires! Next day when I pick up the car they tell me they road forced balance the tires and let air out of the tires to soften the ride.
Of course the car still shakes. I take the car to a different dealer and tell them I need the car completely checked out and not to focus just on the tires. They tell me the tires where way under inflated and out of balance, one even by one and a half ounce. They tell me all is fine. I drive off and still it shakes. Go back and take the tech for a ride. He can't feel the problem.
So got a shake in the floor that is best felt at between 65 -72 miles per hour? How do I correct this? If this is normal for a Prius why did I not feel it for the first 19000 miles? I say it must be drive train related but I can't seem to get people to not focus on the tires. Car is 15 months old and I closing in on 40,000.
Last night I was messing around with a bimmer. I was on 2nd gear, so i floored it and it wouldn't go in third gear. So I tried fourth and it wasn't going 4th neither. So i threw it in fifth. Started driving, I down shifted back into third, the car started shaking. Now the car shakes so much on idle. This all happen last night. I went home, and i checked out the coil packs. They seem to be fine. I was told it could be my spark plugs. So this morning,i replaced the spark plugs and coil packs and the car still shakes a lot on idle and when i drive it. I scanned it, and nothing pops up, no check engine light. My motor mounts seem good. I just recently got my um N/A tune. I feel like the tune is doing this. I have no clue whats the problem. I changed the spark plugs and coil pack for no reason. Also under my exhaust mid pips where the clamps are right after the cats. Water is leaking out. So i thought the gas station i went to, use water in their gas. Gas was low, so i put more gas, and still having the same problem.
View 24 RepliesI have a 1996 Dodge Ram 1500 5.9L V8 4x4 ... Automatic transmission sport model
I have a severe shaking at 1500 rpm last gear and a slight shaking at idle doesn't shake when I'm off the gas barely shake when I kick it into higher revs but I than hear piston slap.
I replaced the spark plugs and I have brand new U-joints. Last night I checked all the plug wires and they are all getting spark. But my exhaust is skipping like I'm not firing in a couple cylinders
I checked the rear transmission mount (I'm replacing it). And the Engine mounts look ok but I'll check again today
I've read a ton of forums and they all have different answers so I'm really trying to figure out what is wrong before I spend a bunch of money replacing things that won't fix it!
I've read that it can be my tranny, TC, Harmonic Balancer, Steering Stabilizer, pinions, Tie rods, Steering(over all), IAC, Fuel System, IgnitionSystem.
I have an 09 F150 4x4 with 116,000 miles on the clock. I am having an issue with moderate acceleration and felt mostly in 3rd gear. I changed the spark plugs at 106,000 miles with OEM replacements. I have had this issue since about 80,000 miles but intermittently. It seems its starting to get worse as time goes by. The problem is both cold or warm and doesn't happen all the time but now about 80%. Light acceleration is good and full acceleration is great with no issues.
Feels more like running out of fuel but not to the point of stumbling. Possible misfire that is not being detected. No check engine light lit. Tranny shifts perfect. Idles extremely smooth. I was thinking a coil problem but with no engine light, I don't want to try to guess which one. So far, this truck has been awesome and has needed nothing but tires and routine maintenance. I pull trailers consistently and this beast is not abused nor babied.
Just got this new 2012. However, I can kind of feel this sort of `pulsing` sensation coming through the seat while driving (can feel it in the driver seat and passenger seat. Almost like the wheels are out of round or something.
View 20 RepliesMinor rattle when going over bumps! It sounds like drivers side rear... I have had a chance to check of anything in the car was loose (spare tire tools etc...). Found my problem, now I just have to confirm its the rear driver seat belt not resting correctly.
1. Intermittent rattle behind driver
-check rear seat belts that they are actually resting on the cushion loop.
-check rear passenger window switch.
-check door strikers
2. Bass rattle front doors
-check with dealer
3. Rattle at rear of car
-check spare wheel and tool compartment.
After being all over the map, MK4 to MK5 to MK6 to Corrado to MK2 to MK6 and now back to the MK4 I am back! Long ago, almost 10 years I built a 2001 GTI VR6 turbo that I absolutely loved, but college funds forced that sale. Driving just about everything I have always wanted another 12v to play with, but they are getting harder to find that are not totally molested.
Anyways, I came across a 2001 Jetta VR6, one owner car, 100% un touched, all maintenance records, and only 79,000 miles! I had to buy it. Only a couple minor dings in the passenger door I will mend out down the road, otherwise the car is darn near mint condition.
Engine Plans:
Kinetic Manifold
Precision 6262 T4 .81
C2 # 630cc fueling
9:1
Flipside Short runner
FX400
Interior:
Full R32 seating, steering wheel, pedals (I saved this in storage in case I were to buy another MK4, glad I did!)
Maybe suede headliner/pillars
Exterior:
Bora-R front, GLI side skirts, Votex rear if I can find a nice OEM one somewhere
Undecided on Brakes/wheels/suspension, I want the car drivable, to go enjoy some canyon ripping up here in the Rocky Mountains. This car will not be slammed down just to destroy the geometry and make for a poor handling car while ruining fenders and body work
Anyways, some quick pictures for me to reference where it all started, nothing special, again only 79k on the ODO, she is CLEAN
Quick background. 1+ years ago I'd sometimes get the "moo" when in reverse. It was intermittent and never enough or a persistent issue to address. Recently, no moo, but I noticed when I'd release the parking brake and move forward there'd be a minor hesitation and an audible thunk, not too pronounced, then it'd roll freely from then forward.
Replaced rear brakes a few weeks ago, noticed the right side parking brake arm doesn't reset as far free as the left. Pushing it 'home' by hand made a little thunk in the cable house up near where it bends towards the vehicle's midline. Brakes installed, and it spun freely by hand with perhaps only a very small amount of 'hiss' but not consistent for a full revolution, only periodically. Lubed both cables from the center console.
Last night installed parking brake return springs, set and released the parking brake a few times to see how it felt. Right side looks like it still does not return home 100% (maybe, 2-3mm away, same as before). Today, made a run to Napa. Got there fine, when leaving, drop the parking brake, and as I'm grabbing reverse I get a yellow dash light and a "check brake pads" warning. I drove about a block, pulled over, shut off engine, got underneath (no parking brake set) and the arm seemed to sit about where it should. I drove a few miles at low speed, pulled over (left engine running, set parking brake), checked temp of all rotors (both sides) with my finger, nothing noticeable. Drove a few more, repeated the above (engine running, brake set) and temps were still cool.
Got home, replaced fans. Started up to test fans, and the error isn't there now.
If it was going to throw an error I'd more likely expect it when leaving home, where I had cycled the parking brake handle multiple times. No error there, or en route to Napa. Leaving Napa, parking brake engaged only once, I got the error. Powering off and restarting, it was still there. Successive stops did not have the engine shut off. Once home, it cleared.
I couldn't avoid seemingly a huge pothole when drove at night, and the sound was really awful. After that, I could feel vibration through the steering. The ride isn't the same anymore. What causing the problem? Try to get the car to the tires shop tomorrow. don't wanna bring it to the dealer. Bad experience when I tried to get an alignment after installed vwr lowering springs.
View 11 RepliesWhen I accelerate at 70+, I get a very noticeable vibration that is felt into the steering wheel and throughout the cabin. I have 14,000 miles on the car, so I seriously doubt that it's the CV joint. Could it be possible that I lost some wheel weights, and it's become imbalanced?
View 2 RepliesWent out this morning - which was one of the first times we've dropped to freezing since I've had the R32. Car started fine - but idling was rough - almost felt like it was surging. Rev'd it a few times, no change. Meanwhile the tach malfunction light appeared. I turned it off and then restarted. No tach light and it was idling normally.
View 2 RepliesI've A Problem With My Car Nissan Tiida 2007
When In First Gear While Releasing The Clutch The Car Shakes
And If I Didn't Release It Fast The Engine Will Stall
I have vw passat 2001 model the whole car shakes in 4rth and 5th gear and i have bough vcds and tried to play a lot with it all these reading taken in idle position i also tried to do a full scan but that doesnt shown any thing related to the problem also can bus has no communication may be its faulty.
Here are some screen shots....
Just bought a 2000 passat v6. I have owned a 99 passat 1.8t for 5 years and has had little to no problems. When I first was driving my newer v6 I noticed that when im downshifting from 3rd to second especially it has shaking feeling in the front end. Wasn't sure if this was a transmission problem or an axle problem.
View 14 RepliesI have this problem with my B5 and have no clue what it is. When I'm driving around wherever, the car starts to vibrate and shake when I go in third gear or anything above 40mph. I don't want to jump to thinking its my transmission. [URL] .....
View 12 RepliesWe have a 2006 Mini Cooper Cabrio with 55K miles. The car is a lot of fun, but lately I've run into a problem: when starting movement and engaging first gear, as I release the clutch and engage the engine - the car/engine shakes briefly. Sometimes just a little bit, sometimes quite severely, but always noticeable and resonating through the car. This happens when you apply very little gas (less noticeably) and when you give considerably more gas (shakes a lot more and when it engages - gives an abrupt kick).
This also happens in the second gear, but not to the same degree. Today this happened every time i've shifted into first or second and i'm getting worried that we are in for some expensive repair on a fairly low mileage car.
I'm not new to manual transmission and have learned to drive on a car with a stick. I've been behind the wheel for 20 years with driving manual on and off for at least half the time.
2000 Nissan Pathfinder, 150k miles, automaticWhen I accelerate between 2nd and 3rd (from what it feels) the whole car shakes. No matter what speed I'm already at.I recently had both CV axles replaced. Transmission fluid doesn't have any flaky stuff or anything, it's pink though. The check engine light is always on, but it starts to blink when it starts to shake between 2-3 gear.
It's been doing this for about two weeks, nothing has changed, average 15 miles a day. No weird smells from the engine, leaking radiator fluid super slowly (was told to just keep filling it)To start the car I have to press the gas slightly. That's everything I know is wrong with it. I just want the shaking to stop. Does it sound like I need new transmission fluid or something?
I just bought a 2001 Accent, very well taken care of. It is the 1.6, automatic, 148,000 miles. Just before I bought it, the owners put new tires on, replaced the plugs/wires/belts/timing belt/all fluids/head gasket. I did a search on this topic and saw a lot of things, but nothing definitive.
I've noticed that when at a stop (in gear) the car shakes a good amount, and with the A/C on it's significantly worse. There is no check-engine light, and the car seems to run and shift very well. I'm not used to small cars with small engines, so I don't know if it's normal or not.
I did look at the motor mounts (front and passenger side) and from what I can tell just taking a peek, they don't look bad, but again it was just a peek. The mounts don't look like they've ever been changed, but then again the whole car looks brand new, the owners took really good care of it (the inside looks like it's never been ridden in).
I do also have noise coming from the speedometer, that goes away temporarily when the back of the cable/speedo is lubed and then comes back, but my first concern is the shaking.
I have a 2001 Mitsubishi Eclipse, It will shake vigorously when it is in gear with my foot on the brake,(say at a stop light). But as soon as i let off of the brake and press on the gas the shaking completely stops. But as soon as I stop again it starts to shake again.
View 5 RepliesI have a 2003 Mercury Sable with 139,000 miles on it. A few weeks ago I had been driving on a long trip and stopped for gas. As I was exiting the gas station and went to accelerate as I pulled out, I felt a shaking and the car went out of gear. The car will start now, but pushing on the gas does absolutely nothing whether the car is in drive or reverse. I'm trying to decide to have it fixed or to sell it at this point. Is this a transmission problem, as I suspect?
