What maybe causing a metallic clicking from my back seat. It sounds like it's coming from the center of the rear bench seat. It happens sporadically. Just started when it got cold out.

View 10 RepliesI think I have a bad prop shaft CV joint. The car has been intermittently making a metallic clicking noise from the middle of the car. It can happen at any speed, a slow crawl to the highway. The frequency is completely tied to speed over the ground and seems to be once per revolution of the prop shaft. I put the car up on a lift yesterday and slid back the heat shield under the CV joint and bearing in the middle of the prop shaft. There is grease there that looks like it was thrown off of the shaft. Can the CV joint be replaced by itself or am I looking at replacing the entire prop shaft assembly?
View 4 RepliesWhen I turn hard right & left, near the left wheel well there's a little metallic clicking sound. Either way I still don't what it is. Upon inspection when I removed the wheel the I noticed that the red portion with the large arrow is able to move clockwise and counter clockwise. Just curious as to whether or not this should be capable of happening.
Wheel baring, control arm and bushings have been mentioned from Le Shwab's workers... I dunno though I need Vortex's opinion
When collar 3 is turned all the way down it can't rotate, but I'm almost positive that collar 2 and 3 are suppose to remain in contact with one another to prevent movement of collar 1. Just making sure that my theories are correct.
Over the course of the past week or so, I've been getting an odd noise from the rear driver side of the vehicle. It's kind of a metallic clicking sound, but the clicks are rather erratic. As I accelerate, the duration between clicks decreases. It's not a "click.. click... click..." noise either. More like, "click click... click... click click click... click click..." If that makes any sense at all. I'm thinking that my wheel bearing is going out, but I don't know for certain. What I might be looking at?
View 12 RepliesI just purchased a used 01 Jetta GLS. It came with only 1 key and no fob. My key fits the door and ignition but does not seem to fit the trunk or the back seat lock that gives better access to the trunk. The fuel door switch works but the trunk release switch does not (no sound, haven't checked wires yet).

I drive with the seat slider in the full back position. I'd like to gain another inch or so....just enough to where I'm not touching the rear seat. Not worried about rear passengers. How easy would it be to either reposition the seat anchor points or modify the seat itself to do this? Also, has anyone tilted the front of the seat up a little to give more thigh support? I was also thinking of shimming or otherwise raising the front half of the seat maybe 1/2 inch to give my legs a little more support.

2008 r32. First time i opened it up on the highway, noticed a weird electronic whine under the back seat as soon as we slowed down that wont go away. It changes pitch when you shift and sounds like a weird electronic sys trying to mimic an exhaust leak. Id think fuel pump, but seems louder on the left side (fuel flap on right). Since i talked her into it and i apparently caused this noise, shes gonna kick my ass if I don't fix it. Its somewhat warrantied, so toss out whatever, I am not scared to go to the dealer with 500 things i want them to look at, but i need to know if their diagnosis is correct or total crap. Ive never dealt w 4motion (its incredible) and my newest dub is also a vr6, but its a 92.
View 5 RepliesI have a 2012 2-door R with sunroof and navigation. Almost from the very beginning the driver's seat had a problem. It would not hold the position of the back. It would slowly keep going back. Over a couple of days of driving (less than 2 hours per day) I would have to adjust the back about a 1/4 turn of the wheel to get it back to the original position. I have taken it back to the dealer twice for this and they could not find anything obvious.
They said that they would need to take the seat apart in order to figure it out. According to them I am the first one with this issue they have heard of. I am debating if I should keep adjusting it every couple of days, or take the chance and let them take it apart, hoping that there will be no collateral damage in the process. How easy/difficult it is to get to the guts of the seat?

View 7 RepliesThe headrest of back seat will bend over when fold down the seat. But one of the headrests can't go back to original up position. The dealer has adjusted the cable but this just temporarily fixed the problem. The problem is back again. I will go back to dealer but can they really fix it? Should I ask for a replacement of the whole seat?

View 6 Replies2012 Prius 3 with solar roof. Most of the time when I go over little divest in the road; just large enough to barely feel, I hear a metallic clicking sound from the front passenger side of the vehicle. It is only audible with the windows down. It only happens if I am going faster than around 10mph. Sometimes I hear a similar sound from the drivers side, but not as much as the passenger side. I do not usually hear it when hitting larger bumps that work the shocks a bit harder.
It really sounds like some loose bits of metal contacting each other. I do not see anything obvious with a quick visual inspection, but I have not raised the vehicle to really get a good look down there.
Transmission on occasion will have a metallic clicking come from transmission, I do not want to replace, car is not worth 6,000 to replace transmission.
View 2 RepliesLately I've started having an intermittent metallic noise that has been bugging me. At first it occurred on long runs and sounded like it could have been the brakes or something similar. It is not too loud but is continuous, rather like gently rattling your set of keys.
It got steadily worse and I eventually tracked it down to the passenger seat. When I held the seat the metallic rattle stopped.
2015 TSI Transmission Problem... Clicking sound, over the past few weeks clicking has got worse, rough idle, very abrupt gear changes when gearing down, gear gets "stuck" around 2200 revs and jumps back and forth. what do you think the problem is. and no its not dsg. has 5000 miles.
View 8 RepliesI should probably arm myself with a sound clip, you can hear it with radio off windows up, but more prevalent outside or windows down. whenever I stop and release the brake, there is a metallic clank noise that is heard outside the car. now I didn't want to bring it up to the dealer, but at my last service interval, I test drove a brand new Prius C and I could not duplicate it. So I don't know if its something that developed after it brakes in and is normal.. The prius C I test drove was utterly quite going from brake to gas until the point the whirling sound starts. mine has a metallic clank and it usually is not immediately as I release but within a second, and I thought maybe it was a change in the regen system, but now I am more curious as a brand new one did not make that sound.
