Golf VI R :: Got Code P000A - Hole In CAI
Oct 19, 2014
I opened my hood 6 days ago to look at a possible cel issue throwing code P000A, ever thing was fine. Today I opened my hood for another reason and found my CAI had a hole in it. The pylon that has the screw that mounts to the engine tore out. No large part flew into the turbo

Getting one of those CEL error codes P000A Powertrain on my R32. I used my cheap OBDII bluethooth readers.
Taking it to local shop tomorrow, but they want $109 to scan the car with there VW OBDII scanner.
Why can that scanning be a free charge

I've tried to do my due diligence searching on this (I've seen many posts but most have other codes).. I have the P000A code, reads as follows-- Intake (A) Cam Position Sensor Slow Response (powertrain).
I have no misfires, hesitation rough idle, nothing. I have 94k miles and I always done my oil changes @ 5k intervals and I have not had any prior engine maintenance done to the car....
I took my R32 to the local VW dealer today and they are saying they believe it might be the time chain tensioners. I am wonder if this could be a simple sensor issue since the car runs perfectly fine, I just get the engine light coming back on after 1 to 2 weeks of clearing the code. I have had this issue since January and I thought it might be the cold weather here in WI.

I've looked at [URL] at the three primary hitch receivers for the 2013 RX 350; Curt, Hidden, Draw-tite.
From the side profile picture which etrailer displays for each, the Curt has one hole and the other two have two. Those two appear to be different sizes. The one on the Curt seems to appear smaller than the larger of the other two holes on the other two hitch receivers.
I called etrailer and the person I spoke with could not tell me why they were different, they just read the specs I see on the page, tongue weight, load, blah, blah.
With my hitch, I will need to haul a Yakima trailer, about 450 Ibs total, it is a very lightweight trailer, or a 2" Yakima bike rack. Maybe some day, I'll need to haul something of substance, but I have no plans.
I'm also wondering if a hitch which is recessed back, will it be difficult to work the pin in and out?

My 63 year old mom owns a 2004 VW R32 and she must had hit a speed bump or something too fast. It now has a nice pin hole in the pan. I have found multiple listings on ones online, but want to order the right one. I am looking at this pan here. Is this the correct pan?
Also does it have a gasket or use RTV? Are there any other parts needed?
The swap looks pretty straight forward any tips or tricks. Gonna do it in my driveway.

Only thing I've noticed is the idling is a little rough but the car has 88k on it so that's expected. I haven't checked the cam follower yet and know I'll probably need to change it so that's going to happen in the next week.
I had a code for P000A & P2293 for a few months that would throw a MIL and I would reset it and it would come back after a while. I finally replaced the cam sensor and I didn't see a MIlL for about 6 weeks and one day it came back. Once I scanned the car it showed P000A again. I cleared the code and everything seemed fine until yesterday. I went to start the car and the car wouldn't turn over.
I pulled the key out and tried it again and it worked. More and more I think about it, the car doesn't turn over smoothly over the past few months but maybe I'm just looking for things. I ended up scanning it last night and it had a code for P2293 & P0011. I cleared them both but what could be causing all this and cannot afford to bring the car in to the mechanic. It's out of warranty and I'm broke and X-Mas is around the corner.

So I jacked up my car on stands to put in my dogbone mount insert yesterday, and my friend noticed this hole on the bottom of my transmission:
He said if you look inside you can see gears and (his words) "They look pretty dry". Is this just an inspection hole? I imagine if there was some kind of catastrophic fluid loss my transmission would shift weirdly/not at all. But so far it seems pretty normal. Its a MT btw.

Don't drive my R every day these days. Recently had to get it out and get it smogged when I noticed there is no AC. Turns out the aluminum AC line next to the radiator clip on the passenger side has a hole in it. It has been vibrating against a screw head which finally drilled a hole through the line.
I heard the "ticking in the dashboard" sound.

I currently have a MKIV Golf. The other day i was out and about and i was going through an intersection. It had some deep gutters, or divets, whatever you want to call them to allow water to flow through the intersection. I didn't notice how deep they were until i hit them, being it was night and I didn't think going the speed limit i would even need to worry about that at a busy intersection. Anyways, i hit it, heard it, felt it. Didn't think of it much since it didn't seem that hard of a scrape. Got some food and ended up driving for another ten min.
My oil light came on and i ended up driving a block or 2 to the gas station. I stalled out on the highway right before i got to the gas station and had to try popping my clutch to make it into the parking lot as it was a busy highway. It restarted and i got into the parking lot fine. immediately turned off the engine. After half an hour and multiple dry dipstick checks and 3 quarts of oil on the floor i ended up finding out that there was a bullet size hole in my oil pan.
The only thing is that the fact the engine sounded horrible, but didn't seize up, and i don't know how long the engine was completely dry, should i take it to a shop so that there isn't a possibility that damage has been done to the engine? or should me replacing the oil pan, adding the proper oil and amount be sufficient for the engine to run fine. I don't want to take the chance as I've already been through engine problems with an s13 i had that seized up on me because of other oil issues.

I was driving to work last night and too many things went wrong simultaneously leaving my MK4 stranded.
2000 Jetta 2.0
185,000
Automatic
No check engine lights or warnings
-The engine sounded like there was a hole in the exhaust at highway speed. There wasn't because it's a new system
-Low coolant light came on. The flange connector at the firewall was torn off resulting in a stream of coolant pouring out
-It was dark but the engine almost seemed cockeyed by a degree or two
-Upon parking, the motor. sounded "clunky". Driving forward seemed OK. When shifting into reverse there was a pronounced clunk and the drivetrain wasn't happy.
-I turned the ignition off and that was the last time the car started. It turns over now but will not fire up. The video I attached is my last attempt at starting it before giving up.
My car is my job and I'm at a total loss on how to proceed???

I noticed a rectangular hole of approximately 2"x 8" on top of the dash, near the windshield on driver's side in line with the steering wheel. Our garage is dark in the mornings, and when my wife turned on the car ('06 model), there was a faint green glow coming from this opening.
It is hard to see otherwise since it is obscured by the windshield.

I had an incident with my car in which a truck ahead of me dropped some metal object and I couldn't swerve to avoid it. But, straddled it the best I could to avoid tire damage.
I made it about 50 miles before I got the dreaded low oil pressure light meaning one thing, a hole in the oil pan.

On the 23rd of January, car was at the dealership (9 am) for its first oil change, that rattle in the dashboard and being washed. There was also another issue to be taken care of but they didn't carry a replacement headlight. My brow light on the passenger side wasn't turning on so dealer said they had to swap the whole headlight assembly! Anyhow picked up the SFS later on that day (6 pm) and, I had to wait for the windows to clear as they were really foggy due to the fact that the vehicle had been washed and it was pretty cold outside that day (-25 F). Went to the restaurant with my wife and came back home around 8:30 pm. Car stayed parked all day on the 24th of January in the driveway. Come January the 25th, I wanted to take the SFS instead to go to work when I noticed that giant hole in the roof! Luckily the shade wasn't open so no glass inside the cabin although had the shade been open, maybe pressure wouldn't have built up. Vehicle was towed to dealership but Service Dept. was closed. Today, I shall hear from them. The loaner in the meantime, an Elantra.

I notice a hole in the wheel well that goes up to the firewall of the car, may be for the turbo? It could also be a good place to introduce NOISE into into the cabin of the car as well.

I have a 91 corolla 1.6 5 speed. There is oil in one of the spark plugs and its covering the entire bottom of the spark plug, which is also making the car sputter as it runs. I'm told the seals are bad? If so, what kind of seal is this? Where is it located inside the engine exactly? If not, what else could it be?

Last friday I was on Masspike and all of a sudden I heard a weird noise. So I stopped on the side of the highway and found out my right rear tire was gone. When I took it off I found the inner side wall of the tire has a hole in it. So I put on the donut, went to nearest sears and replaced the rear tires with new pair of tires. Now my question is can I take the wheel off the donut and put it on the other good tire and use that as a spare or do I need to buy another wheel? I ask that question because I figured if I ever get another flat again I can just use the good tire to drive around for a while before I have to get new tires.

Before i bought this car i thought a vw nut owned the car but now i'm certain. when i lowered it the other weekend i learned some things.
-k&w shocks in the rear
-frame notch up front with brackets welded inside the wheel arch to hang air lines
-a nice little hole in my driver side glove box where the height controller was probably mounted
