I've had the car for over a week and I just noticed that the sill is missing on the driver side. I'm going to call my dealer, but I know she'll be clueless, so I'd like to have the part # handy.
View 1 RepliesI purchased my first car and I am excited its a prius. I got lucky and got it below Kelly blue book. Its a 2010 IV, love the navigation and sound system. Thee car had a few minor issues when i bought it (ABS/Slip/Horn repaired). My only other issue (very minor) is the driver side door sill. The light unfortunately does not turn on when i open the door. After realizing this i took apart door foot panel, plastic door guard and the door sill itself. Immediately after removing the door sill.
I noticed that there was a significant amount of surface rust and the led circuitry had been compromised from water and appeared to be the root cause. So i thought i could fix it by removing the led light strip and replace it with some generic 12V blue led strip lighting. My thought was that i could cut the wires from the original led and tie into the existing OEM wiring. But when i plugged it in nothing happened; i tested the led lights i bought on a 9V and it works. So then i bought a multi-meter and tested the wires and i didn't get any reading. Am i doing anything wrong? Is there a particular fuse i need to check or any other lines i need to follow?
I connected the driver's side LED door sill without a problem by following the video instructions. However, there were no instructions for the passenger side. So, I guessed that I would t-tap the two top wires. The LED's do not light up. Now on second view, the top cable that I t-tap'ed looks more black than blue. I should have done this in the light. So...
1) What are the correct wires to t-tap for the passenger side?
2) Did I damage anything if I t-tap'ed the wrong cable and I then remove the t-tap?
My driver side door molding is missing a clip. This is the bottom half of the mold and one of the clips snapped off. I've checked junk yards and they never have any GX's. Just to elaborate the clip I'm missing is on the exterior side of the door, down by the bottom edge.
View 2 RepliesI have a 2009 Hyundai Santa Fe, and I don't really know what the exact term for it is, but the plasticy/rubbery coating on on the window sill inside the cabin is rubbing off from what I assume to be my elbow sitting on it (seems strange).

View 6 RepliesIf the driver's side fender liner is supposed to have an access panel cover? I was swapping out my side markers today and noticed that my passenger's side has one but not the driver's side. Didn't think to check for something like that during delivery although from looking at the one from the passenger's side, it doesn't seem hard to believe that it could have fallen out due to spirited driving.
View 3 RepliesSo I've noticed a problem. When I go to lock my doors with the keyfob my drivers side door doesn't lock. Manually I can turn the key and lock it. Now what's weird is my drivers door will lock when I press the lock button on the inside of the door(the button on the handle). So I'm pretty sure the actuator isn't bad since the door will lock via the inside button, maybe I'm wrong though? Not really a super bad problem but annoying nonetheless.

I'm interested in some color matching door grease. I've always hated the black gunky door grease. Why? Cause I'm OCD. I saw on the MKVI R [on CW anyways] their door hinge grease was color matched.
If this is too absurd, any recommendations for removing/cleaning the grease currently on the door hinge and replacing it? It comes off as straight forward.
2000 Jetta 2.0L bought used with broken key fob and separate valet key.
Problem: I have always had problems with the electrical system since a little after I bought the car. For example, after unlocking the driver's side door with either key, and starting the car, my hazards would flash and alarm would sound (car thinks I'm trying to steal it). I fixed that by disabling the alarm.
Just recently however, I locked my car as usual (pressed the button on drivers side door locking all doors except for drivers side and then manually locking the drivers side door). When going back to my car the next morning, I put the key in drivers side door and turned--- NOTHING. The key (both fob and valet) turns both ways but the drivers side door will not unlock and I am stuck getting locked out frequently.
Just recently in the last month (owned the car since aug 07) I have noticed large amounts of wind noise around the driver side door. At first I thought it was on just windy days, then it started to get worse every day. I'm taking it in to vw to check the seals around the door, but I'm not real certain this is the issue since after visibly inspecting the car the seals look pretty solid
View 12 RepliesThere is a creaking sound coming from my driver's side door only when turning right. It sounds like it's specifically coming from the strike plate or latch area. I've pinpointed it to the door because it doesn't happen when I slightly open it but leave it hinged.
View 15 RepliesI just picked up an R32 a couple weeks ago, and I've noticed that occasionally when using the remote door locks that the driver's door refuses to lock/unlock. When locking, the alarm doesn't arm as I assume the car doesn't think the door is closed. When unlocking, well, it just doesn't unlock. In both cases if I use the key in the door, everything works nicely.

View 20 RepliesI just replaced both driver and passenger side window regulators (they were about to fail but still worked) Prior to replacing them, my driver side door had a faint, yet repetitive rattle. I was under the impression a new window regulator would fix the issue. Needless to say, it didn't solve the rattle problem (though the windows are now firmly in place). I suspect it's coming from within the door panel itself. I've peeked inside the door panel without fully removing it and could find nothing. Maybe it's something loose that needs to be secured? I swear it's like Chinese water torture hearing that rattle and it's driving me nuts.
Edit: Holding the glass down, or holding/pushing on the door panel does nothing at all.
So my brand new 2012 2.5 with 143 miles already has an issue. Having a single pop sound from somewhere near the drivers door, maybe the seat, or door frame? Also I think it mostly happens when accelerating from a stop. Maybe around 3-10 mph. Pretty sure its an interior thing, not drivetrain related.
View 18 RepliesI heard this noise on my mkIV GTI as well. When I unlock and open the car in the AM I hear a strange "whirring" sound. It sounds like a cell phone vibrating on a hard surface. I don't think anything is broken since it has done this on two different cars. I just want to know what it is. The sound happens as soon as I open the driver-side door.
View 4 RepliesI finally got rid of my 2.0 and upgraded to the Vr6 5-speed. The other day my driver side rear door just came open. I tried closing it but it just bounce back open. I tried those methods of YouTube to see if that works but still nothing. Now i had to tie my door shut and experience my car not being locked completely. My alarm would go off and everytime i drive my car, i have to deal with that annoying ding the car makes when the doors are open.
View 1 RepliesPassenger side and trunk work just fine. Drivers side door no longer unlocks with the remote. Passenger side and trunk work just fine. Fresh batteries and all. I forgot how inconvenient it was not having a remote to unlock.
View 12 RepliesI just got home from work, opened my door and went to close it, it bounced back and did not shut. Tried it again, it would not close. Tried pushing the key fob lock/unlock, did not work. I looked at the lock and its closed, any fix for this issue?
View 5 RepliesMy drivers side door doesn't line up perfectly, it sits a little lower the farther you go towards the rear and requires a little bit more energy to close than the other one. Is there any easy way to adjust this?
