Golf VI R :: Cluck Sort Of Noise Coming From IE Plates
Oct 12, 2015
Recently I have noticed a noise coming from the car. It is a cluck sort of noise, and it is definitely coming from the front end. I have tested turning and braking and the noise does not seem to be related to that. It seems to only happen when there is a quick transition in the road.
Think of the seam between a bridge and pavement where the bridge is an inch or more higher than the pavement. During normal dips and bumps it seems fine. I put the car up on jacks and removed both wheels. I went over everything to make sure it was snug. I took a rubber mallet and did a soft tap on various parts to see if I could get a rattle or clunk.
I have heard that camber plates can make noise. I am wondering if this could be the case. Many people have reported noise with GC plates, but I have not heard of IE plates doing this.

Seems to only happen when I first start driving and then make a stop. While I am waiting for the light to turn green I hear a clunk tick cluck tick noise behind the passenger seat that seems to speed up and then slow down. I think that is where the fuel pump is.

There is a strange rubbing sort of noise coming from the front end. I hear it when I take my foot off the accelerator and/or when I turn the steering wheel to the left. To me it sounds like it's coming from the passenger side of the front end, but I could be wrong. The most recent work done to the vehicle was the brakes, about a month or two ago.

My dad has a 2012 6.7 powerstroke with about 84,000 kms on it. Truck runs great, works great, but has a noise that sounds like its coming from a pump of some sort on the engine. I know nothing about these trucks and told him I would see what I could find out before we take it to the dealer to see if its a warranty issue. Video below.....

So upon start up of my 2003 Jetta GLI 24v VR6 I hear a noise in the cabin. Its hard to describe but almost sounds like suction of some sort. At hist i thought maybe the heat was on and the blower sounded weird but it was off. It does seem to increase or decrease wit RPM's and from drivers seat it almost sounds like its coming from glove box area. So maybe the car has no cabin filter? IDK I just bought the car and Im inexperienced with the VR6 platform.

there is a clunk on the front of my Prius.
When I'm driving slowly and steering I can hear a clunk/knock coming from the front. I can replicate the noise by steering when stationary.
I have taken it in for diagnostics and they couldn't see anything wrong. Where to look?

I just rolled 100k in the 337. Time to do some refreshing. 2 noticeable issues (non-motor related anyway )
1 - sometimes when turning hard left to right, or vice versa, I hear and feel a "cluck", almost like the something is shifting.
2 - I've got a creak from the front (and I think maybe the back too) when I get out of the car. Sometimes I hear it when I slowly go over a bump as well.
3- I think my rear shocks are on the way out.
In the last 15k I replaced both the inner and outer tie rods. That's all I've done to the suspension.

2000 f150 182000 makes a rumbling noise from rear end mainly when turning at slow speeds. Thought it might of been axle bearings so replaced them this weekend to no avail. I have the 9.75 limited slip rear end but what I found out this weekend is that the axle bearings are for 8.8 , the 9.75 bearings was to big.
So does this mean I have 9.75 ring gear with 8.8 axles ? I have been using royal purple 75-140 with no friction modifier because royal purple says its it there.
But after doing some research Im going to go get some friction modifier and see if it works . So my question is how much of a pain is it to replace the clutch packs? What if I wanted to just put a different differential in and do away with limited slip ? Or go with a different aftermarket limited slip diff. ? what are my options , etc.

So I just came back from the stealer(Koeppel). I had them check out my car because it was making this clunking sort of noise from the steering wheel. When you turn the steering wheel, when it is turned straight, left and right, it makes this obnoxious noise. It sounds pretty bad.I thought it might be an axle problem or possibly a bearing. Now heres the funny part. My dealer says that it is normal. They said they called VW technical support and they told them that the way the rack&pinion was built on our cars, that causes the noise. He said i can show you 3 other Passats that make the same noise. I didn't bother because i did not have the time. I am going to go tomorrow again to see if they can find anything else on it. If they dont, i am going to ask them to show me the other Passats with the same noise.

I have had a 2010 Sonata for about a year and a half. Love this car! I had my brakes and rear driver caliper replaced about a week ago. Now my car makes a sort of high pitched noise when I apply my brakes and I'm almost stopped.

My 2011 Honda Civic makes a grinding / squeaking sort of noise when I start it after it has been sitting out in the rain - either for several hours or overnight. The noise seems a bit like the noise when you crank the car but the engine doesn't start. It happens after rain or a snow, so it would seem that moisture is getting into a place it shouldn't. The dealership checked it out and couldn't find anything wrong or anything that would prevent it from starting. They also told me that this noise might well go away after the first oil change - that the additives in the oil now are suppose to seal things.

It's darn cold in many parts of the east. -4 this morning. Anyway, driving to work today, I had my heater on about halfpower, and about 30 min. into my commute, the air vent began making a bubbling, chirping sort of noise. I turned it off until I got to work. When I parked, I turned it back on, and it was making a very loud, straining noise.
It's a 2009 Pontiac Vibe (Toyota Matrix twin)...

So I lowered my car sometime last year and ever since then when i make a right turn above 20mph it caused my car to shake pretty violently. i figured it might have been my Left outer cv joint so I changed the axle, solved my problem temporarily but didn't really make it any better. Recently its gotten way worse and now shakes on any sort of acceleration, and at the slightest turn of the wheel towards the right side. If I left off the gas, put it in neutral, engage the clutch, or turn the wheel to the left it goes away. Could this be the right side inner CV joint or something else? Car shakes under acceleration or right turns, is it my axle?

My 2004 f250 5.4 Triton has been making a sort of ticking noise, it almost sounds like my lifters have a little play in them but it also sounds like an exhaust manifold leak. They both would sound about the same and it seems to be getting a little worse of gas mileage than before. Also, the check engine light was on from Saturday into Sunday night then it shut off Sunday night and hasn't been back.

There's a piece steel behind the plastic cover and there are no homes behind the small little plastic thing. Do I need to drill a hole?

I own a 1998 Buick Regal with 213,000 miles on it. Recently I've noticed the rear strut plates in the inner wheel wells are very rusted and each has a crack along the wheel well. I've taken the vehicle to three auto body shops and none of them have been willing to provide a written estimate for repair. Is this a problem that isn't worth the trouble to fix? I still value the car and the 3.8 v6 still runs great ... but maybe it's time to retire it.

My 2003 Honda Element's radio has been messed up for several years. The speakers are fine but the radio must be disconnected from the antenna because it is impossible to stay in tune. How difficult is it to lift off the face plates on the dash and try to reconnect the radio. Additionally, the lights on the speedometer appear to be getting ready to burn out.
The light behind the defroster dial has been out for a while and now the light behind the heater dial needs a few good taps for at light to appear. Can my husband and I repair these things or should we take it to the dealer or some kind of car radio and dashboard expert. Will it cost a fortune or will it cause further damage if we try to do it ourselves?

I have rebuilt my transmission but it keeps burning up reverse high clutch plates. It has burned up two sets so far. I am thinking that it might be something stuck in the valve body.

I've had a funny noise from the rear of my car for quite a while now. It's a snap/crack sound that comes when the car is twisted along its length, like something is releasing tension or something. For not quite as long a while, I've been convinced that it's a matter of re-used stretch bolts (I'm not the one who re-used them though) on the both ends of the shocks back there.
I hear this sound (sometimes I can feel it as well) when I angle out of my driveway, which slopes down into the street beyond. Must angle out to avoid scraping the nose, and must TURN into the street anyway. Maybe under those conditions something shifts a bit. I have a UNIbrace; I know that's not got anything to do with it (I had it out for a bit to test).
Have new upper and lower rear damper bolts on hand. but probably worth it even if this makes no change. (Rule out the easy, inexpensive things first, they always say). My Bentley notes "spring must be removed before removing shock." I'm sure this is because the springs keep pressure on everything nearby and we don't want to release that suddenly by yanking the shock out. Or trying to.
If I have the rear of the car on stands and aim to do one side at a time, I can place the pad of my floor jack underneath the trailing arm back there, jack just a little to sort of "hold" the pressure on everything and remove/replace the bolts easily.

Awful noise coming from one of my pulleys. I've sadly already been to Firestone three times about this same issue... twice replacing the belt. So yeah my belt has completely torn to shreds or just fallen off while driving. They replaced my tension pulley and idler pulleys, yet after three times of them fixing crap I still have a intact belt BUT the original noise I took my car in for is still there. It sounds like a thin piece of metal is hitting something as the pulleys spin....
