View 24 RepliesI would like to keep my ipod up in eye line view so that I am not looking down to change songs... I was going to buy the pro clip for the driver view, but realized I would just have a cable hanging in the middle of the car...
View 3 RepliesI noticed the rear parking cable's one end hanging. Not sure how to connect it. Appears a part is missing.
View 7 RepliesI've recently ran into some issues with my Passat. The other day while driving I noticed a scraping noise under my car. I got out and saw two bracket looking things were hanging down. As far as I know, nothing has changed to the driving but I want to know if it is something really serious. They are on opposite sides of each other, each about a foot length from the front tires (toward the middle) and one appears to be more bent than the other, probably due to scraping.
View 7 RepliesAfter an oil change I noticed my lower engine cover hanging loose in the middle. Much searching has not found the part number. Underbody engine shield fasteners. Any quick reference for these? 2009 Camry 4 cyl XLE.
View 11 RepliesI've had a Prius since 2006, and bought the 2010 in 2009 when it came out. This is the first winter I'm having a problem with the splash guards under the engine coming loose and hanging down.. I went to the dealer on 1/27 and had them put back in place. I went back again on 2/10. I looked under the car and again one side is hanging down. They dealer explained that it is a plastic clip that holds them in place. I don't drive over big lumps of snow & ice.
View 2 RepliesSuddenly I discovered a loose cable under my engine .... what kind of cable this is?
View 9 RepliesI have a 2006 F250 and my 7pin and 4 pin connectors are just hanging loose. I'm not sure what happened to the factory bracket. What is the part number for this bracket? Also, where does it mount to? I looked under the truck and couldnt tell where the factory one mounts.
View 4 RepliesMy friend and I both have the MK4 R32. He had a bunch of stuff replaced in the engine. (a bunch of plastic parts that are super expense, the timing chain, something related to the guide, basically the plastics that holds the engine cushion/absorb) Anyways, his engine sounds great and quiet at the same time with a little high pitch noise when the RPM is hanging in between 1K and 2K.
Our cars were in the garage and I did the same thing and it sounded NOT quiet, a lot more noise than his. There was an obvious difference in noise coming from the engine with the hood open. I do have cams and a light weight pulley. Can that have an affect on the engine noise? If I am not making sense, then i should probably video record the sound or take it to the dealership for a check up. Also, I am at 93K.
After a bit of a crunch to the underside, i've noticed some circular metal covering broke back and some wires are torn and exposed just behind the front passenger wheel on the bottom.
View 5 RepliesA month ago, when I got into my car I saw that my rear view mirror was hanging freely with the tension of the rain sensor cables. My windshield was changed last winter. The thing is insurance company didn't change it with the original factory version. So I think they removed the rain sensor from the old one and tried to stick it to the new one. And the whether was so hot at that time so the glue just came off. The only part of the mirror that didn't came off was a black sticker kind of thing with a hole for the rain sensor in the middle of it. Then I tried to stick it back using super glue. Well it worked for a month but yesterday my mirror fell of again. So I cleaned the residue of the super glue from windshield using acetone and left it like that.
I'm thinking of taking the car to service now. Oh and btw the rain sensor part is a bit bumpy right now. I mean it doesn't stay in a fixed position. It stays a little bit in front of the hole it should stay in so gluing the mirror back is possible only if I apply the glue to the rain sensor.
Replacing the factory pos cable from the alt to the bat in the rear yet? if you have what is the path and was it a pain to do? I have not had the chance to get the car on a lift yet to check and don't know even if it needs to be on a lift to do.
View 8 RepliesRemoving the negative battery cable piece that connects the cable to the terminal. Where I can get the screw that tightens the connector around the terminal.
View 4 RepliesOk so I was putting a drill bit into the home slot under the shifter boot. I didn't realize it was so deep and the piece dropped all the way down the hole. Is this bad? If so, what can I do to get in there and get it?
View 5 RepliesMy R is an earlier model with the Aux-in in the glovebox. I cannot think of a more inconvenient place to put an aux in cable which is why they change it I am sure. I would like to reroute the existing one or at least add an extender cable from the glove box to one of the unused buttons near the ash tray.
View 2 RepliesMy R has the aux input in the glove box. Connecting to my iPod works, but the cable I have is too fat/thick to let me close the door. Any nice, thin/flat audio connector that would work so I can close the glove box and leave the iPod out where I can control it? If I can find one I'd get a portable nav and connect it via its headphone jack for Bluetooth phone use.
View 9 RepliesThe MDI cable that came with my car is way too short.. What is the part number or where I can get a longer version of this cable?
View 4 RepliesI have iPhone, how to connect to the stereo with AUX. Plus, I don't know where and what kind of AUX cable I should buy?
View 10 RepliesI bought a 2011 golf 6 2.5 litre 5 door. The second day driving it I discovered a noise coming from under the middle vents in the dash. I took it back to the dealer and they said it was a noise coming because the cable shift was missing some clips and it was rattling in the undercarriage. They replaced the entire cable and I'm finding the same problem only not as loud as before (however it is still there). I'm finding it is making noise around 1200 rpm when going up or down a hill (especially when he car has back passengers in the back or any form of weight in the trunk). The moment I accelerate the noise goes away. Noise is also more pronounced when I have the summer rims and tires on (18s oem). At this point the sound is intermediate however it's something i want to get out of the way. What it could be.?
View 2 RepliesI own a 2002 Jetta 1.8T now here is my story.
A week ago whiles driving lost power when accelerating, EPC light illuminates so I turned on my hazard light and limped home since I was far away from home. As I limped home, all the lights on the dash went off. I got home, shut engine off, restarted the car but car wont accelerate.
I popped the hood and saw the dreaded melted fuse box on top of battery with charred alternator cable. I ordered the fuse box and alternator cable and prepared to replace them.
I realized that with the driver side door open with no key in ignition, I could hear a clicking sound with inside lights blinking. Didn't worry because I believed it had to do with the melted fuse box and charred alternator cable. I noticed that the clock was off too.
I replaced.the fuse box and alternator cable. My battery is just a year old so when I tried starting the car and it won't crank, I tried to jump start it but no sound. Car won't start. Dead silence,no click nothing.
As the title states, I've noticed that the music on my iPhone starts playing automatically when I plug it in to my MDI cable. Is there any way to stop this? I've looked through the settings in the head unit and in my phone and cannot find anything to shut it off.
