Couple of days ago I started hearing a wobble noise coming from the right front. Almost sounds like a worn wheel bearing. Driving the car there is no signs of misalignment, and unbalanced wheels. Haven't hit any curbs or large potholes.
View 15 RepliesI have a Jetta with 130,000 miles. At around 35-50mph during acceleration, I can feel a wobble that would seem to be coming from the driver side drive train. I don't hear any noise with this just the wobble/vibration.
Never wrecked, 5spd manual. If I am not accelerating or putting stress on the drive train, the wobble stops.
I am guessing it could be bad tranny mount, I've looked at it put some hand force on it and jiggled it around a bit and mount seems to have a little bit of play not sure if that's normal if i really try the mount it moves back and forth very little movement but some and if i can move it easily I am sure the engine can beat it up
ALSO my axle came out or broke recently so replaced it with one from advanced auto parts also another possible culprit.
I have a 2012 Camry LE 4 cylinder non-hybrid at 31,000 miles. I was changing the oil yesterday and noticed a repetitive squeaking noise from the front passenger side of the engine. Upon looking closer, the belt tensioner has a constant wobble. Maybe around 1 cm of deflection with the belt. The AC condenser was running. Is this normal? Do I need to replace the tensioner? If so, what the torque spec is for the main tensioner bolt (pivot bolt)?
View 1 RepliesI've got this bad wobble that occurs when I accelerate its also followed by a rumble coming from the passenger side. A friend sitting in the pass also said she felt it under her feet. I have put in new control arms tie rods and ball joints, but before I put those parts in I had a vibration at around 50-75mph which is the reason I put in new control arms and ball joints. Then Driving after the new CAs In my Jetta was driving a bit more smoother but still small vibration under harder acceleration stress.
After taking a rough turn and minimal beating I now randomly have this pretty bad wobble and rumbling noise from 2nd-5th gear early in rpms, the more stress the Louder and rougher the wobble gets. I plan on getting an alignment this week, my only other thought would be an axle? I replaced my pass side axle less then a year ago because my original one snapped but it was with one from autozone...
I have these in 225/40R-18 on VW Goal rims (MkVI GTi). Last month I hit a nice size pot hole and put a very small bend in the outer lip of the right front rim. No mark on the rim, so the tire took the hit. Had a peak inside and the tire was bruised pretty good. Around this same time I noticed a faint humming that seemed to be coming from the front. Figured an inner ply shifted so I replaced that single tire (10,000 on the others).
So the humming is still there and getting a little louder. I've rotated a couple times but the sound is the same. Non-distinct location; seems like it could be coming from all 4 corners.
I have a squeaky noise coming from the front of my R. Here is a recording from inside my garage: [URL] .....
A few observations:
- I would say it is coming from the belt on the left side, but I can't narrow it down
- It doesn't sound like the hamster wheel sounds I've seen in the archives, but I haven't ruled it out
- It doesn't change when the clutch is depressed
- It tends to go away after a 30+ minute drive
I just finished my suspension refresh and I notice a noise coming from the front end. I really think that my end-links are the source of the noise. When I push the car up and down from the center, no noise. When I shake the car from right to left, I can ear a clunk coming from my end-links.

It also appears while braking a clunking noise as the weight shifts.I replaced all control arm bushing, cv joints, and ball joints. The only other thing I could imagine is tie rods so I got under the car and had my gf turn the wheel its not coming from the outer tie rod ends but towards the middle? I am curious if maybe its some time of bushing towards the middle.
View 6 RepliesBrought the car to the dealership and have been told that it needs 2 new cooling fans. Radiator damaged and some wiring component needs to be replaced to the bottom line price of $1200. Would I do better repairing this type of fix at a non VW shop?

View 1 RepliesJust picked up my BMP R32 last week. The car is MINT, only 25k on her, seriously probably one of the cleanest, stock mkiv r32's left. I got every single service record since brand new, all done by a Volkswagen dealer.
Only problem is, a knocking noise has just started to develop, coming from the front passenger area somewhere. It is only noticeable when I brake or let off the gas after accelerating, but definitely more noticeable when braking. At first I thought it was something rolling around in the door, but now it seems clearly suspension related, or a loose bolt or something?

My R's only got 5,400 miles on it and I just lowered it Saturday on H&R Springs and when I turn my steering wheel like 3/4 either way it makes like a clunk noise at lower speeds only....any other part besides strut top mounts and bearings? It sounds like its coming from the right front.
View 9 RepliesOk so im going to try my best to explain this. Last week my passenger side motor mount broke the bolt snapped off and my engine fell on the ground and cracked the oil pan, too make a long story short someone put the wrong bolt in it and I fixed it with the right bolt. When the engine fell and the pan cracked i immediately shut the car off and coasted to the side of the road. I checked all bolts on the car to see if anything was loose but nothing was. But now when i start to take off i hear a clunk from the front end and i do not know what it is or could be. It is not the axles there is two brand new ones in it and have been checked. What it could be?
Car is a 2002 MK4 Jetta Wagon 2.0 .....
I just put on some new wheels and tires (19" VMR RS4 reps) and there is a weird clanking noise coming from the front left wheel when I am going around 10 mph. It doesn't happen when I'm moving faster, but I have checked it out and don't see anything rubbing or hitting any metal pieces. Could it be the suspension or something else? I haven't heard it around any of the other wheels.

View 4 RepliesSo i have had my r now for a lil under 2 weeks, just noticed a strange noise, seems to be coming from the front drivers side, its a low whine/hum, almost like a pump or small motor is running and is very similar to when you use your wiper fluid. the noise is only present when the engine is cold and typically only does it two to three times while stopped. Just seeing if this is a normal thing, never heard anything like this on my previous vw.

It is intermittent, sometimes doesn't show up sometimes there. Gets louder when I turn right. What am I looking at? Wheel bearing? I'm on coilovers.

View 18 RepliesI drive a 2013 4 door gti. Car has 4k miles. Just last weekend myself and my buddies threw my coils in. FK Silverline X plus'. I am not sure on the measurement from fender to ground but I am a finger gap in the front, and fingertips in the rear. After throwing my coils in on saturday, I had an alignment and the rear camber adjusted. Just today, sunday, while driving home I heard a weird clunking/knocking noise. Previously I drove a mk4 and I know the sound of sway bar on axle and this is not the sound. Its coming from the passenger side front.. and I can sort of feel it through my clutch and brake. After pulling the car over I checked everything I could. wheels are all tight, struts seem fine. The noise occurs continuously even on smooth roads. The knocking/popping is pretty loud and can be heard in cabin. My buddy had mentioned the guys the aligned my car might have forgot to tighten something so I am heading back to the shop first thing in the morning.
